I guess I will introduce myself.
The name is Joe. (TekMickey)
40 yr old Single Dad.
My daughter is 11 and her name is Ariel. Yes it was my choice.

My requirements off the list start at the bottom with #137.

Anyway, Emma's Dad, if you would review my request and let the Newb hazing begin.

Welcome.

DW's not a member of the DISboards, and whenever she sees me posting, she just rolls her eyes. My wife is not as...lets say "interested"...in what I post as other DisDads wives. :rotfl:
TL

My wife doesn't do the boards either. But she sure does read over my shoulder when I'm surfing or posting.

Thing is, I don't wanna wait that long to go back, so I've been thinking about doing a quickie trip for just the three of us. TL

DW and I did a long weekend trip a couple of years ago and it was awesome. We did everything that we wanted to do and then some, plus on our last day, we did all 4 parks and ended up the day by catching Fantasmic, then hopping a bus to catch Wishes. And, we weren't exhausted, but it was a GREAT weekend for us. Gonna try to do it again this November too:)

As of now, we're still just going along with the plan. Obviously, the fact that there's water standing doesn't help matters, but there is some other ground that isn't under water that we could be planting in the next couple of days if we don't get any more rain. We had a 13" rain in 10 hours back in June 2008 and had to replant hundreds of acres around the 15th of June and we still finished harvest by Thanksgiving. It will just depend on the growing season and early fall weather to finish the crop off. By the time my 45 days rolls around, I should have a good idea of whether we'll have to move dates or not.

Hopefully you'll have good weather from here on out so you can get everything done in time.

Then I realized I would probably land on several branches of the qualification tree.

I do have a question: Why isn't "You name your first born after a Disney character" one of the top ten qualifications?

Welcome Joe. Nice waffle maker. With a name like tekMickey are you a fan of BetaMouse?

Kathy must be getting a kick out of moderating this thread. :lmao: I'm sure a book could be written with the wealth of knowledge that is exposed here... :rotfl:

If it's a book, its probably one of them there bathroom readers.

Wow I forgot to say what ride, see what happens when your tired & had a few:lmao:

Never been on Arstro-Orbiter and have no intrest of ever going on it, got a hieght issue there:scared1:
You could just go at night and close your eyes, that might lessen the experience though.

oXar's trip planning:
"What do you guys want to do today?"
"I don't know, I'm kind of bored"
"Want to go to Disney World?"
"OK"
"Let me get my keys"
I thought that was Stopher's typical afternoon, or maybe his logic is

if (Scouts != Tonight) {
goto Disney;
}

Do we still have to put DIS DADS - in front of all our thrads, after all they all reside in the new luxury condo.

<disdads> No </disdads>
It may make it easier for people who don't know about the subforum to find the threads?

We have our own threads I figure our next stop is our own html 5 markup meta tag

So, is there a Fantasy Football League and are there any open spots. If so, I'm in.

Cheers,
Indy

WELCOME!

Two worst things:

1) When I went gluten free with my wife to support her the worst thing was finding out that I have a pretty severe reaction to gluten that was only made evident when I separated myself from it. That means that I need to be very careful as to what I eat from here forward or I pay severe consequences.

2) The worst thing today? My mom wants to take us out to dinner at the Texas Steakhouse & Saloon (one of my favorites) but I can't tell if they have a gluten-free (gf) menu.

Seriously - I thought the first time I got "dosed" with gluten that it was a fluke that I became violently ill. The second time it happened I started to get worried. This weekend we used some of our "gf" butter that my mom had inadvertantly used to make herself some toast and dropped a bunch of toast crumbs into the butter. That butter made it into the rice cooker which permeated the rice that I had with dinner and I was in the bathroom for 3 hours. BEVERLY! It does, however, make sense why I had to stock up on immodium before we took trips. I had subconsciously selected a list of approved food items and we'd been eating essentially GF for quite a while before we made the swap. This whole process is fascinating.

My wife has seen very little in the way of improvements so that's disconcerting. I, however, have seen my meals for the rest of the forseeable future transformed. Greeeeeeeat.

My DW has celiac disease and also lives on a wheat/gluten free diet. It's tough but she manages most of the time. Our favorite response from a waitress at a diner when she says she can't have bread: "Can you have potatoes?" Hmmmmmmmm. Of course, WDW is the easiest place for her to dine. You'd think she'd want to go more often!

For those interested, the Blue Angels will be participating in an air show in Indianapolis this coming weekend!

No that comes from being an IT guy/PC geek kind of person.
I was trying to come up with something clever while hiding my identity in case co-workers were on here, catching my post while on the clock.
Kathy figured it out anyway. I may have given her a hint.:wave2:

Thanks for the welcomes guys. Someone slide over a little so I can get my barca lounger in the circle.

That is exactly how it was with my sister for a couple of years. She had essentially diagnosed the cause and effect before the doctor diagnosed her with the acutal allergy.

As far as Texas Roadhouse goes... well it sucks that you won't be able to eat the rolls, because I like them just about as much as the steaks. I know my sister has eaten there since she's had to be GF, and I'm pretty sure they can tell you what does/doesn't have gluten in it if you ask. She's not quite as sensitive as you are though, so something like the bread crumbs in the butter in the rice probably wouldn't bother her so I'm not sure what kind of cross-contamination there might be.
Mmm! Guess what I had!

That's right! A side salad with no croutons or dressing and a baked sweet potato. EVERYTHING they cook has gluten in it. The spices, the sauces - all of it. If I wanted something specific they COULD make it but they'd have to stop cooking, clean the whole grill, then make mine separate before cooking anything for anyone else and it would take twice as long. As it was we still waited nearly 30 minutes for our food. My mom got us queso while we waited and I had one chip before I realized that it wasn't a bagged chip but that they made their own. That means that it was in the same fryer with their chicken nuggets and onion petals (both are breaded before frying). My tummy is gurgling now.

DANGIT! All I wanted was a big slab of beef! Grr...

GOT 2..(seriously I do)...picked them up from DTD the day they were issued last trip in December. We were shopping at the Pin store in DTD and the lady noticed my other Monorail pins and told us that they were being released the next day. We were there when the doors were opening to get ours.
I think I'm going to try to order one from Disney if I can. That would be awesome if I could get one.

:rotfl:

I will say that when I lived 10 minutes from Disneyland... ummmm yeah... that was DEFINITELY the logic. We were there 3-4-5 times each and every week....or more.
