I am an old school computer gamer. After my C64 days I moved up to a Commodore Amiga 2000. Once I left my parents' house and joined the Air Force, I bought my first PC - a 386SX Packard Bell. This helped feed my flight simulator cravings. I upgraded to a 486-DX solely for the purpose of being able to play Falcon 4.0.

Soon after that, FPS games started becoming more prevalent. Some games that I remember spending countless hours playing (in no particular order): Doom, Quake, Rainbow 6, Tribes, Tribes 2, Quake 2, Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament 2, CounterStrike, Half-Life, half-Life 2, Jedi Knight, etc.

When the co-op team-based multiplayer war games came out I was in online gamer heaven: Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, Battlefield 2, Combat Arms, the Call of Duty series (loved CoD4 Modern Warfare!). Then I started playing more console games (PS3) because I couldn't keep up with the hardware necessary to play the newest games with the highest settings (I got married and had kids, so my priorities changed for the better.) :thumbsup2

But I am seriously thinking about upgrading my PC so I can play the new Battlefield 3 - that one looks awesome. Even though I picked up a FragFX Shark for my PS3, I still prefer the good old keyboard and mouse for FPS games - and that means PC gaming. But I give big kudos to RockStar Games for Red Dead Redemption - that is a game I am just now starting to play on the PS3 and it is stellar!

D'oh! Oh well, I figured there's no way I could pull it off in the middle of the day.

Don't tempt me to go home and clear off my desk so I can put my laptop and mouse up there to play some games. Just thinking about those old games has me half tempted to go home and find the old CounterStrike disc and load it into my laptop. I doubt they even support it or even have anyone playing it online anymore though... game's gotta be 10-12 years old now.

Steam/Valve and DOD have been around forever!! One of the best platforms for 1st shooters.

Well, it looks like we will be canceling the trip to WDW this summer - it appears the budget belt would have to be tightened a few notches to allow for a proper trip and that would be hard on us for 3 months. I am a bit bummed out. What really sucks is the fees we will have to pay to change the flights to next year (or whenever we can go.)

Looks like we will just go to San Antonio and take the kids to Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. I guess that is better than no vacation.

And hopefully next year will be a bigger, badder version than I had planned for this summer.

Bummer about the detour this summer, but on the plus side, San Antonio has MUCH better Mexican food than WDW.

If one were to consider getting a certain game to possibly join others online, would they want to get DOD or DOD: Source?:rolleyes1

Wish I could find my Rainbow 6 collection! Loved that game.

Bummer...well your welcome to join me and create a few "NOT" vacation tickers. I find it's better than no ticker at all...or maybe NOT. :confused3

My Summertime will be spent with Dollywood and Dolly's Splash Country trips as we got the Season passes.

Probably won't do a vacation at all and just have several day trips to Pigeon Forge...as it's only 2 hours away.

It is a few miles and several stoplights from I-65... but if you're interested I wonder if I can find a way to get up there for a DIS Dads meet. I haven't been on campus since last fall... I miss that place!

I have a friend who is having his 30th Birthday Party at Harry's Chocolate Shop next month, I just hope that I can make it up there for it. Kind of ironic, the main bar on campus is called Harry's Chocolate Shop and the family restaurant on the edge of campus is called Triple XXX...:confused3

That does seem a little...backwards, doesn't it?

A meet-up there would be cool. I might be heading through that area mid-morning, which might make an awkward time for a meal. There's also the Louisville Bats game, which looked fun when Barry's family went there.

:sad1::sad1: That stinks. I'm sure you guys will still have a great time in San Antonio.

My wife is doing her training now - I may start on mine tonight though I doubt it. Flight of Honor tonight and then we head home around 2130 or 2200. Fun anniversary? Yes. The way I wanted to spend it? No, but we both agree that this is better.

Happy anniversary! :thumbsup2

Spending time with the family is what matters most. Dole Whips are secondary.

Well said! :thumbsup2

Yes, I will get a couple of those windows decals. Are you also getting some mac decals? :lmao::rotfl2:

Sorry to hear it, but you do have a rather good plan-B in the works.

First I’ve noticed you anti-tickers.
Now that right there is funny.

:lmao: :lmao:
