Cool...a 2nd option...wonder if WDW accepts Dollywood passes? :confused3

You should try when you get there. But make sure you dont have a reservation becuase then they will have no choice BUT to take them! Bring your ballpark hotdog/drink voucher and use that in leui of the dining plan.

You're welcome! It was fun!

I agree. Ron, I'd love to hear more about this.

Also, does anyone have any experience with park closing due to capacity? From reading the interwebs, seems fairly likely during my trip. I think that we'll be okay (our plans are to get there at rope drop every day and we don't do any park hopping to MK or AK in the afternoon)

It has happened to us twice. Once at AKL and the other at MK. It was hard to tell at AKL because you are so spread out. When it happened at MK the gates were closed by 11am. There was a line for some of the mens restrooms the place was so crowded. We left earley and went to Epcot and it seemed like WS was deserted.

Morning all, and congrats to the Husky fans. That was more of a brawl then a game, but it was an interesting brawl.

As for length of stay at the World… Well, we can rarely pull of more then 5 or 6ish days. It ain’t for a lack of desire (although sometimes for a lack of funds). The real problem for me is that DANG BLASTED BEVERLY WORK Thing. **Ehem… Ok, I’m back in control again** My masters have restrictions in place that rule out all travel for over 30 out of a the possible 52 weeks every year and they don’t allow me to be out more then about a 5 to 6 consecutive days without having conniptions. Tack on the point that travel during the school year is impossible with a young’in in high school, add a minimum of two days travel time and even with two possible weekends built in, you can see out limitations. In a perfect “world”, we’d stay about 8 to 10 days with a l-o-t of time out of the parks. Maybe someday…

I cant truely speak for Ron but after meeting him a few times I can say I got a good feel for his thinking lol.
I am going to go out and say that he really just enjoys taking in all the aspects of main street.Main street in its self is like a attraction. It covers all of your 5 senses. It has sight(beautiful view of castle and shops). It has sound ( music and the chatter of the people). It has SMELL ( the smell of the bakery and other shops) It has tastes (again the bakery and some other shops) and finally it has touch ( shops). When you ride down main st in a trolley you get to take in the beauty of it from a different perspective then trying to walk ( and have people bumping into you etc).Ron is the type of guy that likes to see all the little details of the parks. They are not really hidden details cause they are right there on Main st lol.

Let me know if I am close Ron :thumbsup2

Thanks, Carl! We will definitely try the trolley this time :thumbsup2

Very well put about soaking in Main Street! There's something magical about that street and it's nice to see that even a Commando takes time to smell the roses!

It's not quite the same (because nothing compares to the Magic Kingdom), but if anyone has the opportunity, take the Around the World Segway Tour at Epcot. Touring around an empty Epcot (and 18 inches higher than usual) really helps to let you appreciate the incredible details that they put into the World Showcase.

I have a question about buying tickets....

I have $600 worth of Disney gift cards (thanks to a points program through my employer) that I'm using to buy admission for everyone for our one day trip to MK on the 19th.

Does anyone know if the ticket kiosks accept the gift cards or do I have to go wait in a ticket booth line to purchase them?

I'm just trying to take up as little time as possible to buy them so I'm not wasting any of our day in line for tickets!

I'd love to be able to buy them before hand...but our local disney stores only sell 3 day tickets or longer.

Any advice would be much appreciated!! :thumbsup2

I believe you have to go to guest relations to buy tix with gift cards. One important thing that I recently learned is that they can only accept 4 forms of payment (that's all their system is set up to take). Each physical card is a separate form of payment, because it has a unique number to track it's value. If you have more than four cards (or three, if you need to cover an extra amount on a credit card), you need to take the cards to the Disney Store and have them consolidate the gift cards for you.

Thanks on all the congratulations... here is a few observations on the game from a UCONN fan that watches very game...

1) It was an ugly game and the first half was Uconn's worst half of the year.
2) Both teams played great defense
3) Uconn played 10 minutes in the first half with out 3 starters who were in foul trouble.
4) Charles Okwandu (uconn's backup center) has NO hands. He has only been playing basketball for 5 years after being converted from soccer.
5) Uconn's starters consist of 3 freshman, 1 sophomore, and 1 junior.
6) Charles Okwandu C and Donnell Beverly G are the only seniors on the team.. but Kemba is graduating this spring and most likely will enter the draft.
7) Uconn held Butler to 22% (or something like that) shooting in the first half and an astonishing 18.8% for the GAME.
8) Uconn held Butler to 3... yes 3, 2 point baskets for the entire game.
9) Kemba probably had one of his worst games of the year, but he still makes his teamates better.
10) Jeremy Lamb is going to be the next Uconn superstar.
11) Calhoun WILL be back next year.

I watched the second half 2 times last night and once Uconn got a few transition baskets, they got into a rhythm that Butler didn't have an answer for. Uconn is without a doubt the better team but I give Butler a lot of credit. They controlled the game in the first half. I know a lot of writers are going to say this was the worst championship game in history... and they are probably right. They will still be hanging the banner in Storrs regardless.

Uconn's run through the BE tourney and NCAA was amazing! Also Uconn was 22-0 vs non-Big East opponents.

Now where is my BBQ? I'm hungry! popcorn::

we leave 3:30am. we drive and its 16 1/2-17 hour trip. i have to be at work the next morning at 4:30am.:scared1:

Okay, Dave! We'll talk more. I'm on hour 26 of a 30 hour work-day. My wife called me this am and expressly forbid me from making any Disney related plans until I get some sleep! :confused3

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! Thats sweet!!! The interactive que, then interactive ghost????!!!!! Thats so awesome!

It looks pretty sweet, but I hope it doesn't make the wait times longer. Also, I just read today that they've put a "real" ring into the pavement somewhere around the attraction. I find the hillarious, because of the remains of that old post that looked like a ring that they removed after the referb a few years back, and the denying it was a ring etc etc...

Thanks for the tip Aaron. Luckily I have only two gift cards and they will cover the 1 day ticket for 5 adults and one child.

I'm only hoping that we're not waiting in line forever. I'm going to try and convince the fam' to get up real early that day so we can make the 1 hour 15 min drive from Daytona and get there early enough. I believe MK opens at 8am that day.

It would also be a bonus if I found a CM at the ticket booth that said my 3 year old looked really tall for a 2 year old! :thumbsup2

I am not sure Lamb will be back. With a number of other top players electing to stay I think a number of freshman will be enticed to leave early beacuse their draft status is improving.

This raises a question for me. What does everyone feel the ideal trip length is? Our trips are usually in the 4-6 day range. We enjoy it and are always sad to leave. If you do a longer stay, do you or your kids feel like you are kind of done with Disney for a while when you leave?

We usually average 8-10 days, although I don't think we've actually done more then 8 days in the parks. We don't do any parks the first day, to get over the fact we get up in the middle of the night for the flight out. We try to get the most we can out of it, because we can never be sure when the next trip will be (funny though, they seem to be getting more frequent). This August will be interesting, we have a late flight getting back, so will have an extra day to wrap things up (thanks to flying in/out of the States this year, instead of Toronto).

As they've refurbed POFQ they've swapped the beds to queen beds. When we were there a couple of weeks ago most of the resort had been upgraded. Now there is another moderate with queen size beds.

Seriously? That's news to me. Good to know!!!
:thumbsup2

Kind of a departure from the commando stereotype. Most people that don't understand the commando touring style always seem to think it involves skipping over the details.

11) Calhoun WILL be back next year.
Not for at least 3 of the games.;)
They will still be hanging the banner in Storrs regardless.
For the time being, anyway.:rolleyes1

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist your set-up. I don't mean to just pick on UConn, I'm at the point that I'm pretty much fed up with the NCAA. Nothing but violations all the time in football and basketball anymore. I want to see them get things cleaned up so that we can quit seeing championships and wins stripped from a program after the players and coaches responsible have gone on to greener pastures. It isn't a UConn problem, it is an NCAA problem, but UConn is just on top of the pile at the moment. I rip on any team coached by Calipari and USC and Ohio State football just as much, if not more.:lmao:

Honestly though, on the basketball court, UConn was the best team. They played well down the stretch through the Big East tournament and the NCAA tournament. I kind of wanted to pick them in my bracket, I just felt like the run in NYC was going to leave them running on fumes and I thought it would eventually catch up to them. That kind of logical thinking is also why my bracket sucked.:rotfl2: After the UK game, it looked like they were losing their legs, but they rebounded to win a defensive slugfest last night. Congratulations to UConn. :thumbsup2

Congrats on 500, John!

And OWN

So...is owning a page like owning a property in Monopoly?

If we land/post on it...we owe people money?

Thankfully Tripple D doesn't have any houses or Hotels on this page...

Here I'll pay with a few Captain O's Beverly Slogan Contest points.

If so, which page numbers are Boardwalk and Park Place? I want to own those.
