Ok Guys open for suggestions here.During our July trip to the House of the Mouse. The wife and I will hit our 21st wedding anniversary.I am looking for something to do that night. We will leave the kids with the mother-in-law and do something just not sure what yet.Probably a dinner and of course fireworks any other ideas?Do they do the carriage rides through campgrounds all yr? or was that a Christmas thing.?

Well if it was a 21st birthday, drinking around the world would be my obvious answer. :rotfl2:

I don't know what else to suggest. I'd definitely want to do a dinner at one of the nicer resort restaurants and see the fireworks... maybe from the Poly beach or California Grill if you were to eat there but it looks like you've had those ideas already.

There are evening carriage rides at Port Orleans Riverside year-round

Just ran across this news post from the DIS:

Disney announces Fastpasses to meet Mickey Mouse

Yeah, I saw that last week... I'm not sure how I feel about it though. I really don't like the idea of having to stand in line for 40 minutes to have a brief interaction with a character, so I see how that FP could be a lifesaver. At the same time... I don't want to waste my FP on a character meet when I could be using it on a popular attraction. No matter how you look at it, you have to be the good parent and sacrifice touring time somewhere along the line to make it work.

I wonder how quick the Mickey FP will go in the morning though? That could make touring decisions become very difficult.

You can get carriage rides year round at Port Orleans Riverside and Grand Floridian.
Book Narcosee's at GF for the dinner, schedule it around the fireworks so you can eat and watch those from your table. They pipe the music into the restraunt. Then after OR before get your carriage ride at the GF.

Wow. Get busy at work for a day or two and you miss all the fun.

In light of all the comments about cars, speeding, etc. I thought I would share an E-Mail I recently received.

These are supposedly actual comments made by Troopers that were taken off their car videos:

1. "You know, stop lights don't come any redder than the one you just went through."

2. "Relax, the handcuffs are tight because they're new. They'll stretch after you wear them a while."

3. "If you take your hands off the car, I'll make your birth certificate a worthless document."

4. "If you run, you'll only go to jail tired."

5. "Can you run faster than 1200 feet per second? Because that's the speed of the bullet that'll be chasing you."

6. "You don't know how fast you were going? I guess that means I can write anything I want to on the ticket, huh?"

7. "Yes, sir, you can talk to the shift supervisor, but I don't think it will help. Oh, did I mention that I'm the shift supervisor?"

8. "Warning! You want a warning? O.K, I'm warning you not to do that again or I'll give you another ticket."

9. "The answer to this last question will determine whether you are drunk or not. Was Mickey Mouse a cat or a dog?"

10. "Fair? You want me to be fair? Listen, fair is a place where you go to ride on rides, eat cotton candy and corn dogs and step in monkey poop."

11. "Yeah, we have a quota. Two more tickets and my wife gets a toaster oven."

12. "In God we trust; all others we run through NCIC." ( National Crime Information Center )

13. "Just how big were those 'two beers' you say you had?"

14. "No sir, we don't have quotas anymore. We used to, but now we're allowed to write as many tickets as we can."

15. "I'm glad to hear that the Chief (of Police) is a personal friend of yours. So you know someone who can post your bail."

AND THE WINNER IS....

16. "You didn't think we give pretty women tickets? You're right, we don't. Sign here."

Welcome to all new Dads!!

Just ran across this news post from the DIS:

Disney announces Fastpasses to meet Mickey Mouse

Since ya'll seem to be into metrics, does anyone know if there is a supply and demand relationship with fastpasses? Will adding fastpasses to attractions that don't currently have them reduce the demand for fastpasses at other attractions in the same park? It seems like it would, because there are only a finite number of fastpasses a guest can use on a given day. There are probably other factors I'm not thinking about though. I guess what I really want to know is, "Will I get more rides in on Space Mountain now?"

Wow I am going to need to take computor courses just to follow the DDC around.
We now have pages

* here on the Dis
* page on FB
*our own Disdad.com
*now on Twitter
*podcast now on Itunes
My head is spinning in all directions

Sure wish I could get DISDads.com to display at work... I REALLY want to hear this podcast! And one day I would like to participate in one :cool1: Does anyone know how large the podcast file is? Is it something that could be emailed? (I don't want to wait until I get home! :rotfl2:). No... I can't get to iTunes either... stupid firewall :headache:

Can you access Google docs from work? The source file for the podcast just happens to still be in our DisDads Google Docs account. You can download with this link: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0Bw...JlZWQtNzBiNzM1Y2I2MzVk&hl=en&authkey=CPyihMwL
(Note: if you CAN get the Podcast through disdads.com or iTunes instead, please do. Google Docs downloads aren't part of our stats).

No.

The real beauty of the FP system for Disney is the perception it creates. Originally the system was designed to move guests out of ride lines and in to shops or restaurants while they waited...not to go on other attractions. It was designed around convenience...and profit. In reality, it causes the lines to be longer than they would be without it, reduces hourly capacity and then creates a class sytem of the haves and have nots. It drives up wait times, and causes lots of anger amongst those that don't understand the system. Those that really know it, use it to their advantage whenver possible, myself included, but it really changed the theme park experience quite a bit, and not all for the good IMO. The next generation is going to take it even further, further reducing spontaneity and causing even more uber-planning AND creating even more of a class sytem. Sorry, but I wish they would do away with them and go back to the old way.

We have a tri-state meet in the works now! If any other parts of the country want to try and set up local meets that would be great.I am trying to do a road trip out to Milwaukee to watch my Phillies take on the Brewers. If this happens Barry and I would try to meet up for the game. Maybe we could even get Mark and some other Phillie fan to make this little road trip.Maybe we could get some other dads from that area to join in?? We here in the DDC are exspanding like crazy so lets see some meets happen:thumbsup2

Remember any dad that wants to travel to Pa is also invited lol

ooh, plan it mid week and I feel a business trip coming on, surely I can find a conference in the area that would be an educational opportunity. I have training budgets to spend anyway.

Thanks Stopher. Well crud. I guess its back to making the kids play rock, paper, scissors to see whose leg we have to break before our next trip.

Hmmmmm... you both bring up interesting points I did not ponder earlier.
