:scared1: I just took my son to school, Holy Beverly, after a good day and night of rain that melted alot of snow, you can actully see grass in some open spots:cool1:, and now you can also see how much damage the plows did:scared1: sides of diveways and roads ripped up. landscape tie shavings everywhere, stone, pavers, small fences destroyed, piles of dirt from the front of yards:eek: The piles of snow are still taller than me, so who knows what else lies underneth:scared1: By june the rest should be gone:eek:

Wow man, that's too bad....it's rained a good bit here over the past few days (Monday was a total wash...unless you were fishing, which, I was:woohoo::rotfl2:)

It's going to be 70 the next couple of days....I feel like I might be getting sick right now, and may have to be out sick tomorrow...

You can tell FL is gearing up for spring break, lots of WDW spring break type commercials being played....I feel a long weekend may be in order sson:thumbsup2

Hello Boys,
I've been in a bit of a funk recently. Too much stuff going on to really get in the Disney spirit. That all changed today, however. Disney streamed the Christening of the Disney Dream this morning live online. This being Disney, it wasn't just a few suits talking and someone breaking a bottle of champagne. It as full 45 minutes of high quality Disney production. Pirates, Princesses and just about any character you can think of.
The ship was anchored out in the harbor, probably a hundred yards or so from the stage. Also out there, a few hundred feet from the Dream was a bottle of champagne on it's own barge. Oh yeah, the bottle was about 30 feet tall. :)
Bob Iger asked Mickey if the bottle was full of champagne. Mickey said anyone can use champagne, and that we had to fill the bottle with our dreams.
Que a Pirate musical number, complete with Jack Sparrow sailing in on the Black Pearl in front of the Dream.
Princesses (and their Princes) then filled the stage, singing and dancing. Mickey did a quick change into a sort of hip-hop outfit and performed with with a hundred or so dancers and drummers (including Goofy on the drum set in back!)
Jennifer Hudson was introduced as the Godmother of the Disney Dream. (Before American Idol, she was a singer on the Disney Wonder). She did a musical number, and then everyone joined her on stage. And I mean everyone: Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, every princess and prince, Baloo, Louie, Mr & Mrs Incredible, Frozone, Buzz, Woody, Jessie, Pinocchio, Gepetto, Alice, the mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, Mike & Sully, Russle & Dug.... every time they switched to anther camera, you saw another character intermixing with random dancers and host of school children.

A helicopter flew in, picked up the huge champagne bottle, and few it over to the bow of the ship. It's not much, but I did get this screen shot:

Jennifer said the traditional Christening blessing and the bottle exploded in a shower of fireworks.

I seriously can't wait until I'm on that boat in October!!!!!

You could literally eat non-stop for 24 hours a day if you wanted to. There's always someplace open that will give you food (room service for late-night snacks).

Basically all food on the ship is included in the price of the cruise

Elbows and slurping are not only allowed, they are encouraged.:thumbsup2

These are great! Thanks for the "talking points" to sell my wife on a cruise!

Barry----

Sorry your in a funk... must be all that remodeling you've been doing. :confused3

That christening sounds awesome!!!! Can you find it online yet or could you only see it live?

GIve it a few hours and I'm sure it will be on youtube like everything else.

Sorry about your funk, Barry! This winter is getting everyone down. One of my friends from college, Jeff Civillico, is a performer on the Disney Cruise line. He doesn't have his schedule yet for the fall, but as time gets closer, I'll find out for you. Maybe he can give you guys some extra attention for your cruise experience!

Another update:

The Wild Africa Trek is now booking into April!

:cool1::banana::cool1::banana:

So for those of you who are hoping to do this, the phone lines are open! My daughter is a huge animal nut, and is going to plotz with this!

One thing in particular that impressed me with the Christening of the Dream: they had a pastor say a blessing for the ship. In a world where every company seems to be so "P.C.", I like that they did not skip this tradition.

Kudos to Disney!

I noticed that too. He did a good job - kept it very non-denominational, but still blessed the ship.

I did chuckle a little watching Buzz and Jessie try to bow their heads in prayer.

just one more of the original rides gone. i know it wasnt the greateast but ill be sad to see it go.

Agreed. Glad I was able to get my kids on that ride last month. Too bad they'll never see Mr Toad!

its funny, we will watch old tapes of epcot and dd will ask, were was that? i think the land ride is the only thing thats still the same other than theres not a guide on the boat with you. i still miss horizons and the gm building.(now test track) ya well, someone said thing will always be changing and discovering new ideas.

I was looking at 2 days for Busch Gardens & Water Country USA, 2 days in Kings Dominion (by far the best coasters on the east coast:cool1:), I'm not a History buff so the other 3 days are kinda open, my wife was talking about a few places in Virginia Beach & Newport News:confused3, But if all else fails Don lives close by:lmao:

Hey! Keep me in the loop here :thumbsup2 I'm sure we could cook up a meet sometime in there.

If that doesn't work, http://disneycruiselineevents.com/dcl2011/ is replaying it.

Grrrrrr.... says video can't be found. I'm assuming this is another blocked feed by our lovely firewall at work :headache: Sounds like a must-see christening to me!

AMEN!

If you’ve been wondering just what the Imagineers have been doing with all those photos and videos that they were asking folk to upload, we now have an answer. There is a new show at MK where there are projecting images onto the castle (like the way they use the water screens as “Fantasmic”) with music, voice-over and a bit of fireworks. It’s called: “The Magic, The Memories and You!" and they’ve posted a video of the world premier on the boards:

http://www.disboards.com/announcement.php?f=23&a=302

It is absolutely incredible. “N-V-T-S, nuts!”

Try http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/. They say they're replaying it. It wouldn't load for me, but you might have better luck.

Just watched it. Wow. I love how Disney doesn't do anything half-way. Makes me want to get cruisin'!

It would have been better if someone yelled, "Spalding, get your foot off the boat!"

Sorry- can't think of ship christenings without thinking of that scene.

If you meet any of the above qualifications, just reply to this thread and you are a member! We'd like to know more about you when you join... as much as you are comfortable with sharing... first name, next Disney trip (if one is planned), etc. Come on in!
I've seen the tags, but haven't had a chance to seek you out until today. I love the criteria list and found myself checking off several. My first name is Matt and I'm planning for summer 2012 (mini family reunion trip.) I work in a tech support call center for a wireless provider in the Public Safety division (supporting smartphones & mobile broadband cards for police/fire/ems/military/govt accounts.) I'm also the media pastor at church (I get to play with all the cool toys), my wife and I have 2 daughters ages 8 and 6 and I just ordered my first HD TV today. (I gotta say I'm pretty stoked about that.) I feel the urge to flatulate when ever someone sends "pixie dust" my way and I enjoy mocking those who take themselves too seriously.
