Well here it is, my 1,000th post on the DIS boards.
Of course, we have the one unifying thread among us: we're all dads.
Now somebody pull my finger!

What a great 1000th post. I would have to be :drinking1 a lot to come up with something like that.

... and that smell!!!

welcome back stopher!!!!! i see your lights on, must be working on the pics!!!:woohoo:

Not yet... but soon.

Welcome home! Can't wait to read all about it... ummmm you are doing a TR right? popcorn::popcorn::

Well that is the plan, but it won't happen right away with all of the other stuff going on here at home right now... so in the meantime, here is a quick and dirty version... but know it's a glimpse, not the entire thing. There's more that we did that isn't mentioned in here at all... (and this way, if I never do get around to doing an actual TR - I'm covered with this mini-version! :cool2: )

We stayed at Kidani - and actually ended up in the exact studio that my folks were in in January when we had a 2 BR. It was a crack-up. I thought the number was right at check-in. Then walking down the hall I thought it again... then sure enough when I fired up the computer that evening and looked at the pics - it WAS! The exact same room. (I always take room number pics to document our trips - at least I have for the past 6 years or so).

It was a very girly trip. Lots of princessy stuff; lots of time on the buses; Soarin' 3x in a row (thanks to EMH morning and getting a FP right away - definitely made up for a Soarin'-less trip in January) all with less than 10 min waits; BBB at the DTD location; Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus; MSEP; hanging out in the pool at Kidani; watching Peter Pan in the room - then later meeting him in the mess they call Fantasyland (SOOOOO many construction walls everywhere); BTMRR 3x in a row; Goofy's Barnstormer 2x in a row; Zebra Domes!; Itzakadoozies!; Mickey Premium bars!; fun; laughter; snuggle time while watching the movie in the room; watching animals from the balcony; park hopping; riding Star Tours 3x on it's penultimate day before going down for the lengthy rehab & redo; giggles; tickles; memories and more galore.

Well here it is, my 1,000th post on the DIS boards. I was thinking of just putting in a quick fart joke and leaving it at that, but you guys are much too cultured and refined to accept that, right?

Actually, I just wanted to say how glad I am that I stumbled in here way back when.......

“I don't care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members.”

Seriously though… Nicely said. This is exactly why I enjoy being part of this little group (that and the fart jokes of course).

Now while I’m here… CRUD!!!
I’d like to jump in here more often, but there’s just too much going on in our house this time of year. I’ll keep trying to read along at least. To all the folks who are dealing with tough times, we’re keeping you in our thoughts. To those that are heading down to The World in the next few weeks, have fun (and take me with you… Please!). Well that’s enough of my whining. Time to go down to the school and help build an Aztec Pyramid (Oh the things we do for our kids). :rolleyes1

Now, did somebody mention cheese balls? Mmmmmmmm.

Very nicely said.

Thanks! I see Nate remembered to wear the infamous t-shirt. :thumbsup2

We're like It's a Small World....:dance3:....without the singing.

I call dibs on being the native kid hitting the dog in the head with the boomerang!

Someone has obviously been on this ride wayyyy too much.

I was honestly bummed thinking that the fart joke was missing....thanks for not letting us down Capt!!!
Well said, a little long winded, but well said! :rotfl: Kidding, it truly is very cool to be in a "community" like this.

Long-winded? Me?

Very well said sir......:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Consider your finger pulled
anim_fart.gif

We have a new nominee for best smiley. It's either this or AJRitz's vomiting smiley.

:thumbsup2 no fart joke???? (make it dis dads and two or three moms and i bet the thread would be locked in an hour):lmao: fart joke, fart joke, fart joke, fart joke, fart joke!!!!:dance3:

I said PULL MY FINGER!!!

I can get past it if some of you guys drink Pepsi. But if I find there are Miller drinkers, I'll have to find a new board to post to. :)

Is A&W ok? :drinking1

Still working on the whole Philly / Chicago hatred... pirate:

badaba badaba badaba badaba

*shudder* Maybe we should amend the list so there are no Amstel Light drinkers...

On a slightly more serious note, couldn't agree more. This group is a great place to hang out, be guys and know that there is always a support team that helps us get through whatever needs getting through. Thanks for reminding us of this Mark!

:thumbsup2

What a great 1000th post. I would have to be :drinking1 a lot to come up with something like that.

Thanks, man. And sorry about the smell. Taco Bell kills me every time.

Looking forward to a PTR on the POR. We have yet to stay there but it is our home this december.

Well, I haven't done a pre-Trip Report yet, and I wasn't planning to. I figure I don't really have anything to say other than, "Hey, we're going to Disney World!"

But rest assured...once I get back, I'll post a TR that is every bit as long-winded, incoherent and irrelevant as my previous 1,000 posts! :woohoo:

PAGE 131 OWNED

Sounds fun! We should have a new category for these mini-TR's. We can call them the McTrip Reports.

Hey guys,

We got back late on Monday night and had a blast. It was a short trip but well worth it.

I would love to quote a bunch of stuff but ...

CRUD....

The drive down and back were pretty awesome. The mountains were amazing, we drove I79 / I77 / I26 / I95. I never expected it would be as easy and enjoyable ride. The rest areas and welcome centers were great. We stayed in Statesville NC on the way down and Charlotte NC on the way back up.

It was a little different having our van with us. Being able to go out and eat and drive to the parks made it a lot easier to get around on a short trip.

Over all a great trip and a ton of fun. I actually really enjoyed driving and we will try it again. I think next time we may stop in a few places and actually see some of the places we drove past going 80 MPH.....oops sorry FED I mean 70 MPH. :lmao:

Welcome back glad to hear you had a good drive, we are about to embark on out first driving adventure as well. Looking forward to it.

The pink is to get your attention! ;)
Riiiiight. If tutter is the kid in small world beating the dog with boomerang, you've got to be the alligator with the pink umbrella.:rotfl2:

Well here it is, my 1,000th post on the DIS boards. I was thinking of just putting in a quick fart joke and leaving it at that, but you guys are much too cultured and refined to accept that, right?

Actually, I just wanted to say how glad I am that I stumbled in here way back when. I'm sure you guys know well the dangers of posting messages on the internet. It's so easy to start flame wars and stupid arguments over nothing when you have the anonymity of the internet to protect you. (You don't have to look far, just check out some of the other threads here.) But this group is a rarity. As near as I can tell, we have represented among us Northerners, Southerners, East Coast, West Coast, Midwest, and everything in between, blacks, whites, Jews, Christians, agnostics, liberals, conservatives, moderates, rabid football fans, people who couldn't care less about football, doctors, lawyers, engineers, soldiers, artists, computer techs, brand new dads, grandfathers, natural fathers, adoptive fathers, Coke drinkers, Pepsi drinkers, people who appreciate the finer things, people who appreciate simple pleasures, fishermen, hunters, car geeks, golfers, movie buffs, cheese ball lovers, and cheese ball haters (actually, only one that I know of. Sorry, stopher).

The point is, we've got people from every walk of life actively participating, and talking about just about anything. And yet, I have never seen a group that is more accepting, more friendly, more tolerant (perfectly willing to state our opinions yet never denigrating those who disagree), and just plain hilarious than this group.

Of course, we have the one unifying thread among us: we're all dads. We love our families. We're invested in both their happiness and their success. My dad likes to tell me that having kids is God's way of teaching you how not to be selfish, and I think there's a lot of truth in that.

Plus, we're still kids at heart, too. We can still have our imagination captured by a place like Disney World. And we can find joy in having our children make the same discoveries we did at that age.

So thanks, guys. Thanks for making this little outpost on the interwebs great. Thanks for making me (and everyone else) feel welcome. And thanks for loving and being so invested in your children. This country needs more dads like you. As the years go by, I hope I'll have the opportunity to meet more of you in person and shake your hand. In the meantime, I'm honored to be here, and privileged to call you my friends.

Now somebody pull my finger!
I used my 1,000th post to say some similar things. But I believe, sir, that you have put it so much better than I did. "You use your tonge prettier than..." (the rest of that quote is not family friendly, so if anyone isn't familiar with it, you'll have to Google it to get the rest.)

On a related note - the card that DS3 got me for Father's Day was one of those talking cards with a little speaker in it. It was a Transformers card, and whenever I opened it, Optimus Prime goes on and on about how great of a father I am and how the Universe needs more father's like me. For some reason, this went to my head and DW had to take the card away because I was opening it too much. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I see Nate remembered to wear the infamous t-shirt. :thumbsup2
My theory - he wasn't wearing a shirt. He had that tattooed on.

Hey guys,

We got back late on Monday night and had a blast. It was a short trip but well worth it.
Welcome back! Now fire up the griddle - there's a whole mess of hungry people in Canada!

Well I guess I'll have a job for aleast the next 6 months:goodvibes We had inventory today:scared1: Without knowing the number they were looking for and a outside company doing it, I came within less then $300 short in a 6 month period:cool1: They were looking for over 100K , Boss said our number was almost unherd of:banana: Guess that kinda makes us Golden:confused3

In case you didn't know our thread was The Dis Dad's was on the podcast this week:cool1: But listen to it and let us know what you think:confused3

I'd be happy to but in my line of work I haven't found a way to do this yet. Maybe if I were to get a desk gig.... :rolleyes1

If I can do it..anyone can do it...:lmao:

Of course, I'm sitting in Iraq right now, so why would you listen to anything I say---oh, and of course, I HATE sitting behind a desk all the time..HATE HATE HATE HATE it.....(which is why I'm still on the SWAT Team)..

Desk jobs aren't good for guys like you and me:thumbsup2

Over all a great trip and a ton of fun. I actually really enjoyed driving and we will try it again. I think next time we may stop in a few places and actually see some of the places we drove past going 80 MPH.....oops sorry FED I mean 70 MPH. :lmao:

If you were going 80 mph on any of those interstates in SC, GA or FL, you were getting passed like you were standing still...:scared1::lmao:

You passed within 4 miles of my house at Exit 1 on 95 in Georgia (Saint Mary's Road)

But listen to it and let us know what you think:confused3

Ok, I can't get them out here...what do they say?
