Everyone who signed up for the football pick 'em....

Don't forget to get your picks in. There is a game tonight you know!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL! :thumbsup2

The pink is to get your attention! ;)

This trip is going to be a nice see what happens trip, we have ADR's but not really much in terms of plans of where we are going each day, with the exception of MNSSHP on the 18th. I know that is so unusual for me. My spreadsheet is only one page that has my ADR's and Park hours, so different from my usual page a day itinerary from past trips.

I am far too excited about my December Trip. Less than 4 months:cool1:, and my ADR's have been booked, rebooked, canceled some of the extras (not all), and downloaded a map of POR. Now, I just need to figure out how to NOT be "here, then here, then here, now HAVE FUN,!!" once we get there. Oh, and I'd like to figure out how to get building 14 or 18 at POR, so any suggestions are welcome!

Tonight our Saints begin defending their world championship vs. "the old man".. GEAUX SAINTS!!!!

Gotta love football season! Not real happy that the Saints beat my team in the Super Bowl (but then again I do have a #9 Saints jersey hanging in my closet). I was at Purdue when Drew was and had the honor of watching him play Saturdays... we sure do miss him.:worship:

Well here it is, my 1,000th post on the DIS boards. I was thinking of just putting in a quick fart joke and leaving it at that, but you guys are much too cultured and refined to accept that, right?

Actually, I just wanted to say how glad I am that I stumbled in here way back when. I'm sure you guys know well the dangers of posting messages on the internet. It's so easy to start flame wars and stupid arguments over nothing when you have the anonymity of the internet to protect you. (You don't have to look far, just check out some of the other threads here.) But this group is a rarity. As near as I can tell, we have represented among us Northerners, Southerners, East Coast, West Coast, Midwest, and everything in between, blacks, whites, Jews, Christians, agnostics, liberals, conservatives, moderates, rabid football fans, people who couldn't care less about football, doctors, lawyers, engineers, soldiers, artists, computer techs, brand new dads, grandfathers, natural fathers, adoptive fathers, Coke drinkers, Pepsi drinkers, people who appreciate the finer things, people who appreciate simple pleasures, fishermen, hunters, car geeks, golfers, movie buffs, cheese ball lovers, and cheese ball haters (actually, only one that I know of. Sorry, stopher).

The point is, we've got people from every walk of life actively participating, and talking about just about anything. And yet, I have never seen a group that is more accepting, more friendly, more tolerant (perfectly willing to state our opinions yet never denigrating those who disagree), and just plain hilarious than this group.

Of course, we have the one unifying thread among us: we're all dads. We love our families. We're invested in both their happiness and their success. My dad likes to tell me that having kids is God's way of teaching you how not to be selfish, and I think there's a lot of truth in that.

Plus, we're still kids at heart, too. We can still have our imagination captured by a place like Disney World. And we can find joy in having our children make the same discoveries we did at that age.

So thanks, guys. Thanks for making this little outpost on the interwebs great. Thanks for making me (and everyone else) feel welcome. And thanks for loving and being so invested in your children. This country needs more dads like you. As the years go by, I hope I'll have the opportunity to meet more of you in person and shake your hand. In the meantime, I'm honored to be here, and privileged to call you my friends.

Now somebody pull my finger!

Very nicely said. And congrats on achieving this milestone. I remember hitting 1,000... and 2,000, and 3,000... and in the not too distant future I'll be hitting 9,000... it's fun. And fun to be able to hang out with y'all virtually. And even from time to time meet some of you personally. I hope some time Mark, you and I will be able to meet in person. Just as Nate and I got to at Epcot on Tuesday. Here we are inside Project Tomorrow at the conclusion of Spaceship Earth.

But why apologize?!? I'm not ashamed of my individual stance on those little puffs of artificial cheese. It just means more for you! :)

Well said, a little long winded, but well said! :rotfl: Kidding, it truly is very cool to be in a "community" like this.

I'm sure the meeting of two DisDads is a historic occasion that needs to be recorded for the Disney archives but were there really that many cameras on hand that Nate didn't know which one to look at?

:lmao: Actually there were two. And the CM's we pulled aside to take the pic, decided to both take it at the same time!

I can get past it if some of you guys drink Pepsi. But if I find there are Miller drinkers, I'll have to find a new board to post to. :)

On a slightly more serious note, couldn't agree more. This group is a great place to hang out, be guys and know that there is always a support team that helps us get through whatever needs getting through. Thanks for reminding us of this Mark!
