Another quick question. Is Photopass worth it? I've been debating this with my wife and we leave tomorrow AM.

Thanks again,

I pre-ordered the cd this year. I put a photo book together for my DD every year and last year there were some shots I took that just didn't come out well. I feel like the photopass just gives me more chances at a good shot and puts less pressure to find someone to take our picture together. There is a discount code floating around the board (sorry don't remember it) that can be stacked with the pre-order discount. I think I paid around $78? We plan on hitting up every single photopass opportunity we see and take advantage of the "magic" shots. And don't forget you can add the Test Track ride photo to your photopass and they now have some deal where if you buy a SM ride photo you also get it added to your photopass.

I've been doing some ADR stalking again. (Disney-related item... go fig).
i don't want to keep others from getting ADR's, but until i confirm with the 5 adults when they want to do stuff, I have 2 times for breakfasts/lunches/dinners. Is this... common? I will cancel my other ressies, probably by September, but until then, i want to keep the 7:20 and 9:00 Chef Mickey, and the 11:50 LeCellier and 12:10 Rose & Crown, because I can't think for the whole group.

so, just making sure that I'm not the only person doing it. Like speeding on the highway....

i, for the first time have made 2 dups myself this time. they wont come out with the candle light din. pkgs. yet and i dont want to get srewed out of eating some where.when they do, ill cancell the dups.:thumbsup2

If you pre-order it online I think they are still running a $99 deal, last year we got it we had over 350 pics on it, the best part was everyone was in the pic:goodvibes, plus you own the rights to the pics.

If you have a Disney Visa or Mastercard, don't forget to get your free pic in epcot just for cardholders:cool1:

Have a Great Trip, don't forget some food and a pillow for the Autotrain:woohoo:

Hey...We are headed to Myrtle Beach next weekend and I am trying to decide whether to take I-77 to Charlotte and then over or if I need to go to Winston and Greensboro...going to stay the night Friday night in one of those place but did not know which might be the shorter route...any ideas???

Hummmmm… :scratchin
We live just south of Charlotte and actually just got back from MB. If you already know the cross-country route from Charlotte over to the “Strand” I’d go that way because, I-77 through NC to Charlotte is a straight shot with little meandering east or west and little work being done on the roads. I haven’t driven the I-73/I-74 corridor in NC, but I know it’s still a work in progress so I’d be concerned by how often you run into construction barrels of find yourself on a congested two-lane (Y’all up in the Triangle feel free to contradict me here if you know better).

There are several opinions on getting from Charlotte over to the coast, how were you planning to make the trek? (Just curious, as that might change my opinion).

I knew if anyone would know it would be you!!! I dont have a route from Charlotte to "The Strand" never gone that way before...we have alway gone the new 73/74 corridor. Was just kicking around ideas...I can get a cheaper room on Hotwire in Charlotte than in Greensboro ha ha. I am off on Friday so we will leave sometime around noon or so. I have to run a few errands first before hand. Plus, I am on call every freaking day Crud! between now and then so I might even have to pack the day we leave. I guess I will call and get a triptik from AAA tomorrow. Where did you stay when you were there? We got a condo off of VRBO this year and are staying at Brigadune. No idea really where it is either...can you say unprepared?? We usually stay at Sea Watch up by Arcadian SHore and the Super Wal Mart LOL

Sunday Aug 15th & Mon 16th we will be hitting Doswell VA. Going to Kings Dom, I don't know if any of you guys that live close by have passes, but if you do would love to meet up with you:goodvibes

Traveled the 74 route yesterday. No road construction to speak of. I just wish that they would complete a better connection to MB.

That settles it then...just going to go the I-74 route...went ahead and got a room in Winston on Hotwire for 53 bucks..that is half way for us so that will make it easier with the kids and not wear them out too much before we even start.

A little something for Fed...

We normally stay at a small condo on the second row in Garden City at the south end of the Grand Strand right at the Horry/Georgetown county boarder. Y’all are going to actually be in Myrtle Beach proper a good bit north of where we stay. Brigadune is just a smidgen south of the Arcadian Shore area between the shore line and the Dunes Golf Course. Given that you’ve been in that area before, I don’t think you’ll have any problems finding it once you get there. Since you’ve driven the 73/74 route before you actually know more about it’s condition then I do. Getting a good deal on a place sound’s like a good reason for at least considering a different route, but I’d also be interested in seeing what AAA suggested.

Now, if you were to go via Charlotte... There are several ways folks around here do it. Here’s the “easy-method”:
Follow I-77 South to I-20 East in Columbia
Follow that to I-95 North in Florence
Exit I-95 onto SC-327 (Exit-170) which takes you a few miles down to:
US-76 East
From there the normal rout into MB you’ve probably done before (US-76 – SC-576 – US-501 – SC-22 and your in the Arcadian Shore area). The advantage of this method is the fairly high speed limit throughout and fewer road changes. The down side is a few extra miles that could be saved (but the speeds make up most of the time difference).

You can shave a bit off of this route by leaving I-77 at SC-34 in Ridgeway, following that over to US-601 in Lugoff and then taking that south to I-20 (the rest is the same).

OK, that’s the easy one. Now the “Direct Route” (about 3.5 hours form Charlotte) goes cross-country away from the Interstates until you get to Florence. And it goes like this (hold on to you hats folks ):
From Charlotte take I-77 South to US-21/SC-5 in Rock Hill SC
Follow the SC-5 part (which will leave US-21 after a bit) over to US-521 South
Follow that to SC-9 Bypass East in Lancaster.
Follow that to SC-903 East (on the other side of Lancaster).
Follow that until is ends at SC-151 South
Follow that to US-52 East in Darlington
Follow that to I-95 North in Florence
The rest is that same:
I-95 to SC-327 South
To US-76 East
To SC-576 (Marion Bypass)
To US -501
To SC-22 :thumbsup2

I’ve driven this route so many times it’s just about become second nature. I could even recommend an interesting stop or two along the way. Well… You did ask. :lmao:

I was writing up my little thesis here and missed the final decision. :thumbsup2 Hope y’all have a great trip either way and just in case you’re feeling adventurous (or have just plain lost your mind), you now have alternate routes to consider. :rotfl:

The Big Fireworks Shop (can't remember the name) in between the North and Southbound lanes on 501!!!

Love that place, used to drive my wife crazy stopping there on our way to MIL's in Myrtle Beach from where I was a cop in upstate SC!:lmao:

Told ya....

A little more geared to the Saltwater guys than us Bass Fishermen (which you 'd expect based on where it is...), but still a must do when visiting MIL...

She lives in Soccastee off 544 a little inland from Surfside....and also right on the "freshwater" side of the intercoastal and Waccamaw River (which you cross on 501 right outside of Conway)...Anyone care to guess what I do when we go?? (:fish:)

Goooood BBQ joint in Conway by the way.:thumbsup2

Sounds like either Sparky’s or Jimmy Carter’s. The Sparky’s, on 501 outside of Raines, SC, is still flourishing and keeps adding new ‘specialties’ (most recently Bike Leathers and even BBQ though I haven’t tried that yet). Carter’s didn’t make it. That one was in the median between North and South US-76 just west of Marion, SC. That was a major landmark for decades, but someone built a big Convenience/Gas/Fast-Food stop just a little bit beyond on the same island and drove Jimmy’s under. The remnants of that place are a sad site indeed.

Which BBQ shop in Conway are you referring to, you got me Jonesing for some?
