I just jumped in to this. Two more hours and the madness begins. Woo-hoo:banana:

Fellas,
Mike (Wherem I Now) posted on my TR that he was sitting in Milwaukee waiting for a flight and it got me thinking. I work right next to the airport, so any of you are in the area, let me know. I can easily pop over for a few minutes for a meet up if you're in the mood for some company.

So ok guys - I said I wasn't going to write a TR for our recent anniversary trip and I'm not - but I did say I'd post a few pics - so here are just a few pics with some light commentary. I'll post a few more later as well.

On our first night we headed over to BOMA for dinner.

While there we were treated to this nice little bonus of yummy treats in honor of our anniversary
2010-0310-41.jpg

This was a trip in celebration of our 16th anniversary. In total we've only actually gotten away for our anniversary 3 times, (7, 12 and now 16) since for 10 of our 16 years we've lived 2200+ miles from any family members - and we have never wanted to leave our kids with just anyone - so it was pretty darn special to be able to do so. My in-laws came in for a nearly 2 week stay with us, which made it quite good for us to get away. Our boys are finally old enough to be mostly self-sufficient except for driving capabilities, so really it was more for our DD and to transport them to their various activities while we were gone.

After dinner we enjoyed wandering around AKV for a while.

Then headed back up to the MK to catch the boat over to the Wilderness Lodge again. While waiting for and then riding the boat, Wishes began. That made the ride pretty fun.

Thanks to the rain and not wanting to go into the parks, we enjoyed seeing Alice in Wonderland twice. After the movie and lunch the first time DW found this little beauty at the WOD after the film and made me put it on. Crazy stuff, but still fun.

We ate at Wolfgang Puck Cafe while at DTD one day, and then Cookes of Dublin the next.

I kept thinking Winnie the Pooh that afternoon, as the rain, rain, rain came down, down, down...

Where are you staying?

I usually roll the dice with Hotwire. Last September we stayed at the Crowne Plaza near the Jacksonville Airport off 95.

I haven't booked anything for the trip in 30 days, know any good ones with a decent rate?

That area is pretty good because you have the Rivercity Marketplace right there with chow (and Starbucks...:thumbsup2)

I'm just up the road off Exit 3 in Kingsland, there's a new Hampton Inn and La Quinta that are pretty nice, right next to Cracker Barrel.;)

Cool, I had no idea this group was around but just saw the post on the Podcast board. I would like to join as well if I am so allowed. I am 40 years young and have 3 kids (DS9, DD7, DS4) and have been married to my beautiful wife  for 13.5 years. I am a total Disney addict and am ashamed to admit that I meet SEVERAL of the criteria on the first post. :lmao: We go to WDW or DL anywhere from 2 - 6 times a year and our next trip is with the DIS ABD trip in April in California. Hopefully I have what it takes to be a proud member of this group and I would be honored to join you all. :worship:

:)

- Bill

Hi, Bill!! Glad you joined us! You are member # 437! :thumbsup2

Hi Im Dennis and im a Disney DAD!!!!

Welcome, Dennis! You are member # 438! :thumbsup2

I gave up and stopped reading criteria at number 11. Can I stil join the thread? ;)

You sure can! You are member # 439! :thumbsup2

Hi all! Another Disney Dad here. I spend most of my time lurking on the podcast board so I didn't even know this group existed until someone posted about it over there. My name is Daniel and I find myself answering yes to so many of the "qualification" questions at the beginning of the thread. I have a wife and two kids that are all huge Disney fans as well. I look forward to getting to know everyone and hope to get over to this thread often! :)

Daniel! Stop lurking and start talking! :lmao: Cause you are now member # 440! :thumbsup2

:welcome: WELCOME TO THE DIS DAD'S CLUB! :welcome:

You have been added to the DIS Dad's Club list :thumbsup2

440 dads?! The membership drive is going well. Any thoughts on what #450 will need to do? Am I the only one who will have to buy beer?

You guys are killing me!! Gone for a day or so and there are 7 pages to catch up on. Welcome again to all the new dads! OK.... here's my catch-up comments:

I had a Caprice back in the early-mid 90s....it freaking flew, much faster than the "new body" crown vic I got later.....that 350 was something else man...no replacement for displacement...

Trooper buddy had a new style Camaro back in the day...he hurt a Vette's feelings one night---I drove by him, rolled down the window and yelled "hey that's cheating":lmao::lmao: The Vette driver (a local attorney) was less than amused...

God I loved "testing" the new cars out at the airport---the slick tops always outran the ones with the bar lights (aerodynamics)...I had an unmarked since I was a Detective, but I made sure I picked a quick one before they got assigned:lmao::lmao:

I would SOOOO love to test out those cars! No one needs to know what I drive... Fed Fuzz would pull me over first! :lmao: (rice-burner :rolleyes1)

Hey Fed! Guess where I went Sunday?

Nice photo!

Hey fellas-

We are finally home! Walked in the door tonight at 9pm. I will be doing a TR but I need a few days to get back in the swing of things. Hope I didn't miss too much here!!!:goodvibes

Welcome back!! Look forward to reading the TR!

Question for all you fellow Dads that do PTR and TR's..Do I need to do an individual PTR or does the Dec PTR cover all the Dads going?:confused3Notice I said do reports and not finish reports???? So yes Don this means you can answer my question:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:Your 24 hrs is up:lmao::lmao:

Just messing with ya Don you are doing a fine job on your report.I know its not Disney but Sea World is always on our list to do when we go to Fla.

Yes... you are going to have to do an individual report... WITH VIDEOS! :rotfl2: Of course, I cannot impose/enforce any time limits :rolleyes1

Welcome to the graduating class of 11:27am. The next ceremony will begin in approximately 45 minutes.

Sorry, the rules state that if the round has not been bought before the next milestone the 400th member must buy nachos to go with the beer. Its in the DisDad Handbook, you did get yours in the mail right?

You poor poor man....:lmao::lmao::lmao:
My niece was down from Canada, we were actually heading to Myrtle Beach but I decided to stop at S.O.B. and tell her it was our final destination: A fun filled day of mini golf, unsafe rides, cheap souvenirs, and stomach viruses.

Another cool mini-TR from the great Stopher! OK... so how much will it take for you to finish my TR??

It would have been great to meet up with a fellow Dis Dad on his home turf! I just seem to have lousy timing. Same thing happened in January. I visited Noblesville, IN just as the local Dad there was heading to WDW.

I was actually in Port Washington, WI for a couple of days and and relocated to the Fairfield Inn at the airport late last night for my 5:45 flight home this morning.:headache:

Not to worry though, somehow I was able to find a beer or two in the area. :drinking1 Maybe we can get together on a future trip. Lots of activity in different areas around Milwaukee and Chicago in the next year or so.

Lots of activity everywhere else too... :upsidedow

Great pics Stopher! Glad you enjoyed your getaway with DW. I really like the idea of seeing Wishes from the boat but I'm guessing that's one of the places that doesn't pipe in the music.

No way!!! That's exactly where I live too!!! I knew you were coming to Indy as I was heading out, but know you were actually going to be in Noblesville. (If you told me then wow, I just forgot - sorry - must have been the excitement of heading south to WDW and all that)

stopher1, thanks for the pics! :thumbsup2 That Mad Hatter wig/poncho combo is definitely a keeper! :lmao:

Yeah - I threw that one in for you all to have a laugh at. I was totally embarrassed putting it on in the store, but she was just cracking up that several other people came around to see what was going on, and then suddenly lots of other folks were trying them on too... so then I didn't care as much. :confused3

STOPHER, dw and i went down last may without dd for our 25th anv., it was a little strange without her along. how did it feel with out the kids along? we went down at least once a year before she was born but it took a few days to get use to just the two of us. i told dw after next june trip, dd starts college and she wont be able to go along as much. just another step in getting old i guess.:lmao: glad you guys had a good time.:thumbsup2

:confused3 I don't know Don, there were a few things I wouldn't have minded picking up while were there but one thing led to another and I never did. But honestly, I'm thinking you probably just need to throw in the towel at this point and start focusing on getting ready for the next go around...
