I have been given the task to take our best friends daughter (4yo) to Disney for the first time. If any other Dis Dads have advice of must things to do for a little girl please let me know!

I know I need to:
A)go see Tink and the gang ( I think I need to be there by 9:45)
B)ride it's a small world
C)Carousel

:

C) Carousel: There is one horse that is Cinderella's. It has been a few years since we were there, but I will do my best to describe it...
White horse, purple trim. Head/nose rises way up, all others, nose goes horizontal or down(?). But the biggest tip off is that there is a gold ring/band around the horses tail. Very easy to spot if you know what you are loooking for. This is the only horse with the gold ring/band on the tail.

The horse to the outside of Cindy's in that row is Prince Charmings.

Got this straight from the Fairy Godmother. So we then marched over to the carousel and thought, ok let's check it out. Not thinking very much of it. But when we watched the carousel go around and then spotted Cindy's horse it was like OMG.

I don't think many people are aware of this information.

Have a great trip.:thumbsup2

One other thing,
If there is still time(availability), you may want to make an ADR for Cinderella's Royal Table in the castle.

Angry people...I'm not really hiding, so much as "waiting"...:lmao::lmao:

Mod last night was very professional...

That is perfect ! Thank you so much for the info, it's little things like this that will make her first day a memorable one! Keep em coming!

on the pricey side - but beloved by all little girls (and their Dads) - is eating at Cinderella's Royal Table in the Castle. Starting this month, all 3 meals feature the Princesses.

Cinderella's Royal Table is great and all because of the experience of eating in the castle, but if you want to eat with the princesses and not break the bank, then go to Akershus in Epcot. This is both of my daughter's favorite princess breakfast. You will get your photo taken with Belle in her gold dress at the door (which the price of the photo is included in the meal) and then there are princesses that come around to the table. The first couple of times we were there we saw Mulan, Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White. When we were there in December we saw around the table, Cinderella, Aeriel (as a human), Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty.

As far as "girly things" to do, another favorite is the Belle's Enchanted Storytime. It is located behind the castle and they get the kids, and some adults, involved in the story with Belle. When we went to MVMCP in December I was lucky enough to be picked as the Beast in her story complete with props and costume, my daughters were picked to be lumiere (sp) and Cogsworth....it was great.

Is there a certain time for the storytime? That sounds like another item to add to the agenda!

I almost forgot about that! DD loves Story Time.

I think it's in the Times Guide you pick up at the park entrance. They do it 5 or 6 times per day. They also have a small sign at the entrance to the "theatre" that lists that day's performances. In between the storytimes you can usually find the Stepmother and Stepsisters in there at a meet & greet. They're hilarious.

I have been given the task to take our best friends daughter (4yo) to Disney for the first time. I have been going to disney ever since they first opened (of course I was only 2 and was toted around in one of those backpack cariers) and have done the same for my two boys but I have never taken a little girl. To say the least I am pretty pumped! There seems to be so much more for little girls to enjoy than boys. My wife and her friend will also be going but they put the "Big Kid" :goodvibes in charge of the activities. If any other Dis Dads have advice of must things to do for a little girl please let me know!

She comes over to the house while her mom works during the week and she LOVES watching "The Three Mouseketeers" and told me that when she goes to Mickey's house she wants to become a Mouseketeer........ Maybe I can sneak away and get a hat and a sword and then ask one of the cast members to give them to her and dub her a mouseketeer....

I have until April to get a good plan together. What an awesome task this is going to be.. I get to be a part of her first Disney experience!:cloud9:

My advice would be to just try and put yourself in their shoes (Be A kid yourself). There are so many thing to do as a young child in Disney.I would give them a little guidance but let them kind of lead the way, they know what they want and will steer you in the way of great memories.
It also depends on what time of the yr you go.

Dang it!! I knew I should have fired up the laptop last night! I missed out on all the fun. For those of you who joined the fray on "the other thread", I salute you. :thumbsup2 Reminds me of when the good guys dropped behind enemy lines in WW2. You made us, your mommas and good-hearted DISers everywhere proud. I leave you with a parting, Shakespearean thought which sums up the pride with which every DISdad should be filled today.

Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say, 'These wounds I had on Bus Etiquette Day.'
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember, with advantages,
What posts he made that day.
From this day to the ending of the Dis Boards,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that posts his opinions online with me
Shall be my fellow DISdad; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in Orlando now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon 'Bus Etiquette Day.'

Okay, Henry V was a little more well-spoken, but you get the point.

Kinda like Cool Hand Luke.:bored:

"What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men". :thumbsup2

Spontainiously started whistling "When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again"

After the drama of yesterday, I think it's time for some good ol' fashioned DisDads fun. I was listening to a WDW podcast on my way home from work yesterday, and they were coming up with WDW-centered "Olympic events". I wasn't really that impressed with most of what they came up with. I think we DisDads can do better. So c'mon DisDads, what'cha got?

My first entry (in honor of yesterday's thread): The Child Lift, Carry, and Balance: This event requires participants to lift a minimum of two small children, walk up the steps onto a crowded Epcot-to-Wilderness Lodge bus, and ride all the way from Epcot to WL without sitting, putting down a child, or falling. (As in Olympic weightlifting, you get three "lifts". Points are awarded for the total weight of lifted children. A bonus is awarded for lifting more than two children.

How about a Luggage cart pack and race. :scratchin

How about the 1,200 Meter FastPast Sprint? You're standing at Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road, and one of your kids says "Dad, I want to ride Space Mountain!" It's 11:50 and you have a noon reservation at Tony's. You grab the family's tickets (or if you're like me, you already have them in your pocket). The train just pulled out of Frontierland station, so you don't have time to wait. Google Earth has the route from BTMRR to Space Mountain to Tony's a just over 1,200 Meters. Can you make it in time to eat?

Excellent!

And, of course, one obvious event is the Kitchen Sink Eating Contest. The only real question is whether hands and/or utensils are allowed.

How about a straight up Test of endurance Where one would have to walk to the bus stop and then just stand there waiting to enter an empty bus.One may not enter a bus where all seats are taken, must have empty seats. You will be awards points based on style and lenght of time you have to wait.

What about The Rope Drop Fast Pass Dash W/Stroller.

Then there is the Disney biathlon where one will have to ride the three mountains. One would have to start at Splash, ride it.Then proceed to Big thunder, ride it.Then past the frontier land shooting gallery stopping to hit 10 targets. After hitting your ten targets you will proceed to go and ride Space mountain. This will be a timed event

now then boys.....i tried to stay awake for round two last night but these old bones couldn't do it....well done to all and thanks for the mention.....very much appreciated. :thumbsup2
i dont think we can miss out the drinks and snacks around the world marathon.now this is the good bit....as the countries in epcot are built in the shape of a giant track we can make it a three lap race or till no man (or woman....lets not get the trolls going again) is left able to walk.just make sure that you are aware that people my not give up a seat for you on the bus on the way back to the Olympic village ( or Saratoga springs as some like to call it)
