DIS Dads The Dis Dad's Club II

So, 11 days before we're to leave for vacation, my water heater springs a leak and soaks my basement. A few hundred dollars on a new one, 3 trips to the hardware store to get the right fittings to get it hooked up, and one very heavy, wet and disgusting trip up the stairs with the old one and my water is hot again. How do you get ready for vacation?

what brand did you put in? i sell bradford white !! i feel your pain, 2 years ago the pump on our washer let loose the day before we left, i got up at 6am the day we were leaving and went to lowes to get another one. come home from vacation with no washer? last year came home and i had 3 roof shingles in my front yard, had to put a new roof on the house!

Dave: Yep, it was on the front page of the Morning Call. I don't know what the driver was thinking. It sounds like he tried to pass someone on a blind spot in the road. It's really sad and it happens around here way too often.

Yup.
*We're the ones gleefully skipping along from attraction to show to store to restaurant and back, while our families lag behind trying to keep up.
*We're the ones that are waiting in line in Epcot's Mexico pavilion to get a picture with Donald, because he's in his Mexican outfit. Never mind that we got a picture yesterday at Animal Kingdom in his safari outfit and two days ago at Magic Kingdom in his regular outfit.
*We're the ones complaining the most about that infernal song from "it's a small world", yet always seem to ride it like 8 times in 3 days, just because its our daughter's favorite ride.
*We're the ones that that walk by the father having a meltdown because "we spent a lot of money on this vacation and we're going to have fun whether you like it or not!" and think, geez, what's that guy's problem?
*We're the ones that begrudgingly hand the credit card over to the wives whenever we're in any of stores, but secretly toss a few items for ourselves in the basket when she's not looking.

Well, today count is a One and a Two!!! 2 Days left. I have not even started to pack yet!! Wife is having a Southern LIving party tonight (one of those girly things where they spned money and eat at the same time) so today my honeydo list is long...Oh I am so ready for Thursday to get here!!

We leave in 9 days, and my wife has the kids packed and is stressing out that her and I haven't packed yet. It's kind of fun to watch her stress out.
She has a friend who gets into all of those parties. Tastefully simple, tupperware, home interiors, "adult" products. Wife gets invited to all of them, but is starting to run out of excuses to avoid them!

I just realized something VERY tragic...my vacation is over in 13 days!!

Now I'm being told "No earlier than 05DEC09".

Sucks too, because I was walking out the door to call Disney and make our reservation for 12-19DEC....can't take that risk!

Never good when you get called into the boss's office and get the door closed--I'm middle management, so now I know how the guys feel when I do it to them...

DAMIAN BEATTY FOUNDATION​

On September 22, 2009 Damian Beatty a 17 year old Dudley High School senior was involved in a car accident on Highway 29 at the 16th street exit. At approximately 8pm on that rainy Tuesday Damian was in a minor collision with a car in which the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene. Damian was left paralyzed from the waist down. He is currently at Moses Cone Hospital recovering from surgeries, one in which a rod was placed in his back to help correct the damage done to his spine in the collision. Damian is a great student and exceptional football player. He is a former Page High School football player. The Damian Beatty Foundation is working to get Damian to The Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA where he can receive the best treatment from some of the nations best spine rehabilitation specialist. We are accepting donations of any kind to assist us in Damian’s recovery. This will be an on going treatment.
