The Delaney Girls and Their Pet Beast Do Disney *UPDATED 8/4 w/ Pics*

Hmmm....If everyone likes this fiction so much, maybe DISboards should start a fake trip report board. I like to be entertained also, but I am on DIS boards to learn "real" stuff about Disney and learn from other Disney fans experiences. Like most people, I only have so much free time to be on the internet, and just wasted a bunch of it reading this trip report. I wish we could get back to real trip reports without everyone worrying about impressing the readers.

I agree. Although it was entertaining...I felt a bit cheated. :confused3

I agree. I loved the trip report at first. Now I feel like I was being scammed!

ITA! Some of the trip reports on here are truly top notch and the threads are extremely popular with lots of people posting responses. I also think some posters feel the need to impress people too much. One (out of the many) thing that made me feel the poster of the TR was out for attention was when he was talking about "Belle's" reluctance to post pictures. He kept telling people to post asking for pictures ('...if we had a bigger response she'd cave...'/ '...make a little noise...if you want to see faces...'). But, hey, he got what he wanted. We keep adding posts to his TR. :lmao:

About 2 months ago, it was decided that Trip Reports Board made changes: Here is the link:http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1146222&highlight=TLinden

We made this change after someone posted a thread called "Clueless". It pertained to why "Off Topic stories could not be included within Trip Reports". The Thread became very long and on the thread no one posted "could we get back to real trip reports"-not a one. All wanted to be able to read "asides" in the Trip Reports.

So we have to take Trip Reports that are real and Trip Reports that are mayby not real-the moderator's and webmasters do not judge. We just make sure the reports and responses follow the DIS guidelines: The biggest being no profanity, no sexual overtones or references, no attacking other DIS members in any way.

Yes Trip Reports are finding out information and reading about other DIS members that went on vacation to WDW. But we also have other boards on the DIS - like the Theme Park Strategies Board that have up to the minute information, also the Resorts boards, Code's and Discounts boards, just to name a few.

I suspected this was a hoax from the 9/11 discrepancy - in fact I suspect there have been a couple of similar inconsistencies to alert us to the fictional nature of this report ;)

I just can't understand why people are upset - I'm quite relieved to know that a family who act like they're a script straight out of a soap and have more money than sense are actually not 'REAL' !!

I've looked for the next post just like I anticipate the next episode of a 'serial drama' (that's what we UK folk call soaps nowadays - is it the same in the US?)

C'mon Bellesbeast - finish the story or I'll have to go back to watching old episodes of Dynasty :happytv:

I also found the story over the top and was quite sure it was fiction pretty early on. However, it was entertaining in a strange way. The photos were really the clincher in determining this. I also noticed the discrepancy in the 9/11 story. Another hugh clue was the attack by the "would be" thieves at DTD. Way too much "knight in shining armor" stuff!

I don't understand why some posters seem angry about this fake post? It was fun and no harm was done. If you want just the facts then the official disneyworld site may be the place for that.

I, too, noticed the 9/11 thing ... even went back to reread. I didn't think of the fiction angle until you all pointed it out, though. And I missed the pics - wish the "Beast" would re-post them! This Beast guy is a genius "fiction" writer :goodvibes Anyway - Beast if you're out there - Repost your pics and finish your story! You had to have an ending in mind and we'd like to read it. We want to know how the story ends. Its like an unfinished novel ... :sad2:

I don't understand why some posters aren't angry that they were lied to. Yes, I agree it was a very entertaining story but it was misrepresented as a trip report. My understanding was that trip reports were real people's experiences, not fiction. That is what fanfics sights are for.
Yes I do want the facts and I thought disboards was the place for that.
In my opinion, harm was done. I still feel deceived.

I'm with the "who cares" camp.. :rolleyes1 ..In fact, I think something would be taken away if I knew it was fiction from the beginning. This is a great report/story. I hope the OP continues the tale! I have to work all night and this is great entertainment! :happytv:

I do see what you mean, but I just kind of took it as a joke. Of course it hadn't occured to me that it might not be real until later on. And if there suddenly became tons of fake ones and it were difficult to tell between the real and the fake it would annoy me. But just this one time I found the shock that it wasn't true to be kind of entertaining! I guess he/she is gone anyway, since they've stopped posting. The thing is - will we all be questioning new trip reports to see if they are real or not? I do think most people read them for the tips and insights as well as entertainment, so I hope that fake TRs don't become a pattern... to me it was one of those things that was funny the first time, but wouldn't be if it were done again. Of course I haven't been here that long , so maybe it has been done before???

It may be fiction it may not ?????????????????

But I'm waiting for the next episode PLEASE

it WAS entertaining!

You haven't "met" Not-So-Snow-White yet. You will, she's going when we take a short trip at the end of August.... assuming I survive to write the trip report.
QUOTE]

Okay--I will be there at the end of August as well! I will be looking for the hotties, the beast and the baby beauty! I love drama so can you promise a knockdown dragout just about the time I am watching???

This report is a fantastic tale! I only have a few weeks to finish my own trip report from my June trip before I return in August. I have been terribly distracted by your report though!

My husband thought I was crazy as i sat staring dumbfounded at the screen with my mouth agape while reading the part about the charges and girlfriends taking over the room! Great story fiction or not!

i have no problem with hoaxes, fiction or the like, as a matter of fact i usually enjoy them - with the notable exception being when they come at the expense of trivialising or demeaning actual events and people who truly were (and are) heroes and whose actions stand in strong relief to your own all for the goal of inspiring respect, awe or sympathy from someone you've never met or spoken with on an internet message board...what exactly is the gain and/or entertainment value of that?

on a lighter note i did appreciate your manly thrashing of those pesky argentinian gold thieves...i cannot tell you the number of times i've been out clubbing with my spandexcladmodelbusinessmogulsuperherowife and those darned necklace snatchers ignore my schwarzenegger-like physique and obvious all around alpha-maleness and proceed to reach for her throat...they were like dogs and you, sir, dealt with them...thank you

"belle'sbeast" had me until the pictures got posted. i will give he/she credit: the writing skills were good and entertaining. but the photoshop skills were not good!
that definately busted whoever was writing the tale.

i thought it was kinda funny, but i did feel cheated, and i'll tell you why: this was no ordinary couple of pages trip report. this report was VERY long and VERY detailed. someone spent a lot of time on it. it just seems sad to spend so much time on something that is deceitful. its almost like this person was hoping to be heralded as one of the greatest trip report writers ever.

i think the mods should close the thread now. personally, i believe the trip reports should be based on actual experiences.

I totally agree, while it was very entertaining, if it was a work of fiction. Why bring in the tragic events of 9/11? I don't believe that was appropriate. Just my opinion, of course. :confused3

This post early on REALLY reminded me of one of thhe books I read. I think the author is DeMille? Maybe not - the authors name escapes me- his main character is an over the top detective who plops lots of money down on clothes etc- and in different books was involved in FLight 800 investigation and 9/11. (The character is John Corey- married to a high up in FBI who was heroic in 9/11, c'mon you guys remember this book)
I swear it is the same writing.
I thought I was crazy at first but now see I am not alone.

I ignored my balonie-metor early on but the part where he gets the pearl made into a necklace to the tune of $138.47 (or whatever faux number it was) for his very young daughter made me quinge and think, are all multi-millionares this daft? I dont think Donald Trump would even do that! Do rich people brag about the money they spend?
Now that I've re-read this fabrication over again, I sort of feel bad for the OP.
"WHO" would do something like this??? How sad. :sad2:

What I find most annoying is that the OP was on just a couple days ago, and is no longer replying. Just sitting back enjoying how so many people got mad about it! I say if the OP isn't going to post any more, why not close this thread? But then again, no moderator here seems to close threads no matter how mean they get...

wow! I cant believe you guys are getting mad about this. I mean seriously it was entertaining and although It may not be 100 % accurate there could be some truth in it. Even if not come on there is so much in this world to get upset about, I cant believe you would let this be one of them. I really enjoyed the story and would like the OP to finish it. I would suggest to all those offended dont read any longer and please OP finish the story.

Quoted by Dopeyfanatic: I say if the OP isn't going to post any more, why not close this thread? But then again, no moderator here seems to close threads no matter how mean they get...

We will not be closing this Trip Report. And if you ever see a thread that is mean? - please report the thread to us as soon as you see it. We all try to read as many Trip Reports as we can, but sometimes it is next to impossible to see ever post.

I posted this back a few posts:

About 2 months ago, it was decided that Trip Reports Board made changes: Here is the link:http://www.disboards.com/showthread...ghlight=TLinden

We may not all like what a DIS member may post in their Trip Report, but as long as it doesn't attack another DIS member, have profanity, or sexual overtones, it can remain on the DIS site. Some subjects may offend you, (I have a hard time reading when people describe things that should happen in the bathroom with the door-shut), but people sure do like to share. We have the choice to read it or not and move on.
