We mix ketchup and mayo and some people add some tobasco sauce for a kick and it is yummy.
What are funeral potatoes???

American Ketchup = ????

Funeral potatoes are sometimes called Company potatoes, too. It's a side dish casserole made with hash browns, cream of mushroom or chicken soup, onions, sour cream and lots of cheese. It's really good. My mom would always make some to take to funeral luncheons, and I loved it because she would make some for us as well. She never just made them for us, we always had to wait for a funeral. Hence the name, funeral potatoes.

Hello Skunka
I hope your are feeling better. :flower3:

How is that stomach problem of yours?? :headache: If you think it was the chicken then maybe you need to stay away from it next time. You might have gotten a bad piece of it. Since your name is Skunka anyway I am assuming it wasn't a very aromatic evening at ya'lls place. Here is some nice smelly flowers that I am sending Marti's way......hope it helps. :flower2: :rose: :flower2:

As a matter of fact, stomach is still screwed up. I'm sure Marti will appreciate the flowers as the ones Matthew and I gave her last week are on the outs. As far as aromatic I just had to light three candles due to DS and DH. I think Marti might have to invest in a porta potty for the backyard.

Paul,
So sorry to hear you are still not feeling well. :flower3: Just keep drinking lots of water so you will not become dehydrated.

Hope you have gotten your furnance & tub fixed :wizard:

Good morning all...

Woke up to find the furnace is not working...it's 58 degrees and falling. Plus my laundry tub is clogged. So basically, we're frigid in dirty clothes!

Sorry your evening did not go as planned, but like you said as least you were alone :goodvibes I have heard this is a good movie, I don't care to much for spiders either

Well, it could have been better. We had planned on going to a theater here that has a restaurant in it so we could eat dinner while watching the movie. Unfortunately the showing was sold out, so we tried to find another theater. We finally found one with a showing that would get us home before midnight, and I thought, "ok, I won't get dinner, but I can at least get a pickle." No such luck! They didn't sell them there. DH got a huge Diet Coke and a large popcorn. Boy was I wanting to cheat, but I didn't!

And the movie! I love the story of King Kong, but they added so many creepy crawly things like 8 foot spiders, 15 foot long centipedes, killer crickets, etc. that I was squirming for at least 1 of the 3 hours. Once they got off that island it was a fantastic movie for me. However, DH loved it, so I guess it was good! To each his own, right.

It was nice just being the 2 of us. I do enjoy that!

How bad is It's Tough To Be A Bug? Everyone is wanting to me see it this time & I am still not sure I will like it. I do not care for bugs either & the thought of a spider or something like that coming at me gives me the heebie jeebies :scared1:

We do not do Tough to be a Bug. First time DS was 6 (12 now) and DD was 4. DS still talks about how is scared him and he does not want to return!

ETA: He is a pretty tough kid otherwise!

Instead of the Hokey Pokey at Christmas, i have used the Reindeer Pokey

You put your antlers in, you put your antlers out.
You put your antlers in and shake them all about.
You do the Reindeer Pokey and turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about.

Continue with:
You put your hooves in...
You put your red nose in...
You put your fluffy tail in...
You put your reindeer body in..

Becky
that is way cute.

This sounds good! I think I need to come eat at your house :teeth:

Just wondering if anyone has a child who wears hearing aids?
Grace got hers in October and it has been a royal pain in the behind! They seem to come apart so often. I got her a "necklace", the kind like you put on eyeglasses. It got pulled on at recess and then the hearing aids pulled apart. The inner ear piece was lost. Amazingly, one of the children at school found it in the mulch the next day!

Anyone have any great advice on keeping these safe and in one piece?

BTW, Grace is 6. Her hearing loss is mild, but she really needs them in the classroom to hear sound distinctions.

Thanks!

Hmmm that does not sound to promising for me. Thanks for the feedback!

I started out my career teaching Elementary School music. Took 10 years off to be a SAHM and have a second child. When we moved back to Virginia I started out substitute teaching and quickly remembered why I had been ready to leave the teaching profession 10 years prior :teeth: It was the POLITICS of public schools that got to me, not the teaching itself.

When I knew it was time for me to go back to work I thought about private lessons in my home or in a rental studio. But there was an ad in the local paper that offered a job in a private music school and I went in for the interview and was hooked! Once I passed all the exams to become a Yamaha teacher I was hired full time. I teach 6 days a week, by my own choice.

I teach classroom lessons to 3year olds through adults and private piano in my own studio in the school. I also teach voice and music composition. I started this job back in 1992 and it seems as if I just began. I LOVE what I do!

I have kept my hand in conducting too, as I am the assistant director of a choral group at my alma mater, which is a University located in our city.

Thanks for asking!

WOW! That's a pretty impressive resume you have there!! Isn't it wonderful to have a job you just adore? IF I could play the piano (Like I said before- I play almost everything else BUT the piano) I would spend my days playing, singing and teaching it. I love music and I love to sing. There's just something about music that lifts your soul! You are one lucky (and obviously very skilled) lady!
So- did you teach your girls as well??

Both are fixed!!! Furnace needed a thermo-coupler (whatever that is) and the plumber gave me a lecture about "you should always use lint traps" The temp is up to 60 degrees...it was getting mighty cold in here.
