I knew it! You are giving off that "I want to be a Grandma vibe" Your brother doesn't live close by, does he? (Japan?) I would share my baby with you, if you didn't live up in no man's land, but at three she isn't exactly a baby anymore  I guess you will just have to keep playing with your Pal mickey!

I keep telling my kids to befriend someone that is pregnant so that I can be an honorary grandma but they just aren't listening. Luckily, they are both listening to the important lesson and have no plans to make me a grandma anytime soon.

Good girls! Thankfully, my sister is fulfilling my baby needs. She should be having my nephew any day now! I can hardly wait!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Just a fly by post. Checking to see if Kate has any news on her knee or Denise on the pathology report or Marci on her dh's arm. I guess no news is good news. Glynis, can't wait to hear about your trip.

Tammi - I posted that on the other thread - someone else posted after me like she was the one who posted about the coach bag but it was a different identity with less posts - makes me wonder if she has a troll identity and forgot to use it!

Marci - Julia is excited for Cars too - as long as Sally is involved - I am making them shirts to wear to the movie tomorrow - Nick loves Mater and Lightning McQueen and Julia loves Sally - last night my dad and I were teasing her and told her Cars were for boys and she didn't have to go see the movie - her reply "MOM - you HAVE a car!!" :rotfl:

Kate -- thanks for the info. I have boys, so I know they will like it, but wondered if my 4 year old niece would like it. I just LOVE hearing Julia's responses. She is one smart little girl!

BTW -- how do you know so much about the character names -- is there a book out, or is it from all the advertising?

Thanks again for the info!

No news here. I'll call again after lunch. Rees seems to feel fantastic, but I think Brantley-Kate is getting a cold. As long as everyone is well by next Saturday for our beach trip. Thanks for thinking of us, Deb. Is it still raining?

Has anyone else received email from Disney after entering the sweepstakes? I got and email today, it was just more advertising, telling me to add them to my contacts so I don't miss anything from them.

yes, I got the same email...I was hoping it was a notification that I won! :teeth:

They sent me a welcome last night with another short video saying there is more coming soon.

Marci-

Your niece will love it!! My girls (not all that into cars and a bit older) were spouting the lines back and forth last night as we waited for roadside assistance. It was a great movie, you almost forgot that they are 1)animated and 2)cars. My favorite is Mater!!

This site has a really cool movie trailer. It got me excited to go see the movie!!!! It also has Pirates of the Caribbean trailer. I can't wait for that show either.

Deb -- thanks so much for asking about Randy's arm. We are in a wait and see mode. It won't get any bigger, we just aren't sure if it will open up, or if we got the antibiotics and other medicine's in time.

We now take spider's very seriously around my house -- even had out a company called "Spider Be Gone" yesterday. Interesting concept, and they guarantee to get rid of dirtdobbers, yellowjackets and cut down on mosquitos.

Hope you have fun with the activities you have planned instead of camping.

Thinking about booking a Disney Cruise for next summer. This will be our first cruise ever. I've been trying to read and find out info, but I could use some help. I posted this on the Cruise Line forum also.

  • I think it would make sense to get Adjoining rooms in a lower category vs a Family Suite so we'd have 2 bathrooms. Which category would you suggest?
  • Any advantage of going in June vs July? The kids birthday is at the end of June. Would it be fun to go for their birthday?
  • Will there be Double Dip cruises again next summer? Where can I see itinerary plans?
  • I'm leaning towards the Eastern route. Pros/cons for a first time cruise?
Any other information would be greatly appreciated. I am so nervous about booking a cruise, but I think it would be great fun.

Ok, I promised you all a trip report, so here goes:

Saturday June 3rd:

Today was packing day! I had to get all 4 kids ready to go to my sister's tonight. Since we are leaving so early tomorrow morning, she asked me to bring them over tonight. So, I spent the morning doing laundry and packing and getting them ready to go. Katie and Jacob were excited at the prospect of staying with their cousins, but Mary and Leslie were a little nervous! Frankly, I was too. I know they will be fine, but it's hard to leave your babies!

By late afternoon, I had packed for all 4 kids and myself. I had also made a run to Salt Lake City for a quick appointment with the eye doctor and to order and pick up 2 new pairs of glasses. My old ones broke yesterday, and there's no way I am going to Disneyland with cracked glasses. I really like the new glasses. I guess that I really needed them as my prescription had changed quite a lot. It made for a big headache as I tried to get used to them, but it was worth it.

At 7:00 I took the kids to my sister's house and prepared for the tears and wailing. No such luck! The kids blew me kisses and headed for the trampoline. So much for a traumatic good bye! Back at home, Alan was frantically trying to finish up a freelance job, so I ended up packing most of his clothes as well. It was a long night for Alan and I felt really badly for him. I got to bed by midnight, but Alan didn't drag himself to bed until nearly 2:30.

Unfortunately for him, the alarm went off at 3:30 as he had to drive to SLC to pick up the rental car. We got a really good deal! $139 for the week! Between us and the Bradfield's (the other couple we're travelling with) it was a fantastic deal! I stayed home while Alan went to get the car. I had planned to make a big breakfast for us and the Bradfield's. By the time they all arrived at the house at 6:30 I had Toffee Apple French Toast, Strawberry Breadsticks, scrambled eggs, and sausage on the table. We ate, and visited but were too excited to eat a lot. By 7:15 we were on the road.

We made a couple of stops along the way and ended up in Las Vegas by about 1:00. We had lunch at Memphis Championship Barbecue (fabulous place, by the way!), and then were on our way. It was so hot in Vegas that we were happy to get away. By now, we were all starting to droop, so lot's of caffeine and music were in order. It really wasn't a bad trip, though. We enjoy each others company and had a lot to catch up on.

We arrived in Anaheim by 6:30 and checked into the Anaheim Plaza hotel. This hotel is one block away from the entrance to Disneyland, so it was perfect for us! We got checked into our rooms and then decided what to do. We were hungry, so we stopped in at IHOP to eat and discuss our options. I had yummy broccoli soup and a salad (I'm trying to be good here). We decided to walk to Downtown Disney and see the DaVinci Code. After we ate, we leisurely walked to DD. It's a pleasant walk, in between the 2 parks, and it was a gorgeous night! While we were in DD I stopped in at the Build a Bear Workshop to pick up a set of Mickey ears for Heidi. It was crowded, but not bad at all. However, I was glad that I didn't have to stand in line to make an animal. I found the outfit (there was only one left, and another woman wanted it, too. Luckily, I got there first, and had my big strong hubby to glare at her as she reached out for it), paid for it, and we headed to the theater.

By this time, I was drooping really badly! We sat in the theater, and I fell asleep during the previews. It was all downhill from there. I dozed on and off through the whole movie. I was the only one, though, since I couldn't have any diet coke on the trip. I guess I'll have to see the movie again when it comes to our local dollar theater. Alan and the Bradfield's liked the movie, but agreed that the book was better. We walked back to the hotel with plans to meet in the lobby at 8:00 to head over to Disneyland.

Well, that's our first day. I'll get more later, but now I have to start packing for our camping trip!

Hi everyone..quick post here!!

Kate, hope your surgery goes well. I like your analogy of Nick's room changing like in TS. I have seen this happen here too..kinda sad.

Denise, glad to hear Rees is doing great! I can't be of too much help on your cruise questions..I was looking into doing this as well a few months ago & I was convinced that the 2 cat 9 or 10 rooms would be better than a cat 4 family suite. More space, 2 bathrooms, & less cost.

Glynis, welcome back..looking foward to hearing more about your trip.

Beth, I think you did the right thing..the guy sounds like a jerk.

Tammi, hey I didn't get an email from Disney!!!

Busy weekend ahead...all the kids have separate birthday parties to attend, Daniel has a baseball signing thing at our local sport shop. Free autographs & free ice cream for all the boys in little league, so we can't pass that one up!
BBQ on Sunday at a friends....I still have to put the winter clothes in my attic & there is so much to do around the house...Poor DH got poison ivy from gardening in the yard. We cannot locate the stuff so I am nervous letting the kids out there til we find it.

I was hoping summer would be slower than the school year but it looks to be pretty hectic as well. Just signed Katie up for volleyball & basketball camp - she really wanted to go & she likes both sports. Daniel is going to baseball camp run by the Mets so that should be cool for him. We are planning a few overnight trips (Cooperstown - anyone have any suggestions on this? never been) Hershey or Lake Compounce & maybe a run up to Newport..love love love it there..anyway then the kids have vacation bible school in mid August & then we are off to Disney in late August..then they go back to school!! Whew...

Hope everyone is well..have a great weekend! :wave2:

DO IT!!! DO IT!!!

I love cruises. We have been on 4 and 2 of them the kids went with us. My next one will definitely be a Disney Cruise. Here is some of my opinions......
*I would go with the two adjoining rooms instead of the family suite. You get the extra bathroom plus more space. Definitely get a room with a balcony. Coffee in the morning out there while the kids are still sleeping is priceless.
*I don't think there is a big difference between June/July. Early June would be less crowded since most schools up north aren't out until mid-June
*You have to tell me about Double Dip Cruises.....I have never heard about that but would like to know
*I have done western 4 times and I am done with it. It is pretty but I have heard that the 7 days Eastern are beautiful.

Remember dinner w/ Julia at Cheesecake Factory.......that was my deciding moment that my next one would be a Disney Cruise. My husband really enjoys the casinos so I had to tell him he would have to give that up on a Disney cruise.

I hope the planning goes well.

Lynn
