Tia, please keep us posted. You, Terra, and Phil are in my prayers. I am so glad he is coming to you ASAP and then to the doctor. It must be such a struggle and so stressful for you to hold your entire family together. I don't think the move to St Louis can come quick enough! Hugs to you!

Thank you Denise and everyone who has responded. I will definitely keep you posted. I was just thinking the same thing about moving just a minute ago. It will be such a relief to know that someone in my family could pick Terra up in a matter of minutes if needed. While on the phone earlier I was feeling so horrible knowing there wasn't even a neighbor that we could call on in an emergency situation.

What Deb said!!

I also want to comment on how whenever someone comes here with a problem or trouble in their lives, the amount of compassion shown by others is remarkable. When one of us is down, there is always someone willing to lift her/him up.

I agree with both Deb and Tammi. We are very lucky to have found each other!

Does anyone have any info on Niagra Falls? It's about a 3 hr drive from my parents house, so we are thinking of going up for a night or 2 the next time we visit them. I'm looking for nice places to stay, things to do that would interest the kids. I'd prefer to stay on the US side, as I don't know how difficult it is now to go into Canada. If it isn't a hassle, I hear the Canadian side is nicer.
Tammi, it isn't a hassle to go into Canada, and it's much nicer than the American side. You still only need a birth certificate. The Sheraton at the Falls is a beautiful hotel. It costs more, but you can get a room overlooking the falls - gorgeous. There's even an electric fireplace in the room. If you choose a non-falls view, there are huge windows overlooking the falls in the restaurant. It's right near the casino, too. For kids, there's the usual "Maid of the Mist" boat ride, the tunnels under the falls, there's an aquarium and amusement park, and endless tours. There's also a whole bunch of hoaky places like a small wax museum (I call these the money-wasters, but kids would probably love them). It's a nice palce to visit for a weekend or a few days. Don't forget, if you stay on the Canadian side, you can get back any taxes you pay on the room!

Please pray for Phil right now. I don't know what is going on as I'm at work, but he sounds like he is on the verge of a total breakdown. It is being caused in part because some combination of the high calcium and Vitamin D they had him taking has been keeping him so drowsy for over a week that he can barely function. Now he seems to have come to the end of his rope over these feelings. Luckily, he is of good enough mind that he has made an appointment for this afternoon with a psychologist. For now, I just need him to get himself and Terra into the city and to me safely. He won't be driving so there isn't a danger there, but they can get to me faster than I can get to them and I think time is of the essence as too relieve as much stress as possible as soon as possible. He has asked me to go to the doctor with him so hopefully I can help convey what has been going on lately if he can't. Thank you for any prayers and pixie dust you can spare as this is all a little scary.

Prayers & pixiedust: for Phil and your family! Please keep us posted as we'll all be worried until we hear more.

Tammi,
We will be in Niagara Falls June 28-29th. We always stay on the American side at a particular hotel, The Best Western Red Jacket Inn. My grandparents were born and raised there and that hotel sits on the spot where my grandmother's childhood house sat. So for sentimental reasons we choose to stay here. It is about 4 miles to the State Park which is the falls viewing area on the American Side. I have also stayed at the KOA on Grand Island which is again not far from the falls. The Canadian side used to be so much better but the American side is getting nicer and nicer.

You will definetly want to get on the Maid of the Mist, the boat that goes under the falls. What a great experience. We are going to do that along with the Cave of the Winds, which is a walking tour that goes behind the American Falls. Another thing to consider is the Cable Car that goes across the river gorge. When I was younger, my grandparents took me about 4 times and they would never let me get on either the Boat or the Cable Car. When I went with my parents and sister 9 years ago we did the boat. We tried to do the Cable Car but it was shut down due to the winds that day. I hope I can do it this trip. At night they used to do a lighting show where the Falls would be lit up and it is spectacular! HTH!

I am forewarning you all that I will more than likely not be on from this afternoon until Monday morning , maybe later. My sister and her family are on their way from New Mexico!! I get to see my nephews and have a busy weekend planned with them.

Abi was part of a Super selling troop for cookie sales and so she received 2 free tickets to Six Flags for tomorrow. :cheer2:
We then paid $40 for two more and it includes parking and lunch so we are going for most of the day there as my sister goes to see other grandparents.
We are going to the ball game with them Sunday afternoon.

My grandma is playing the "o poor me" card. She keeps saying I hope they have time to see me, when are they going to see me. My sister isn't leaving until Tuesday, leaving all day Monday for just Grandma. (Can you tell the woman is getting on my last nerve? :confused3 )

ETA: (This is post 2112 so symmetrical almost makes me want to stop posting right now for the weekend. ALMOST :teeth: )

Have a great visit with your sister & nephews.

Here's some prayers & pixiedust: that you find a new place of residence soon to help alleviate much of your stress!!!!

Hang in there. The DDA prayer warriors are out in force. Please keep us posted. You know I'm here for you. I wish I were closer to help out! My kiddos would LOVE to play with Tia. In fact, they were looking at her pictures this week and asking when they could have a playdate. They think she's very cute and looks like fun! I told them we'd have to meet at Disney one day.

Ok finally caught up from last night. DH's plane didn't come in until 2 am. He said they were flying thru lightening & the plane was so bumpy. He hates flying as it is..I felt so bad for him when he got in. He was so happy to crawl into his bed.

I've heard rumors that starting in January you will need a passport to get to Canada. Does anyone else know anything about this? There is an international bridge between the U.P. and Canada. Chuck & I want to take the snow train in Canada so I need to verify whether this is true.

Vicki, Here is what I found

The travel initiative requirements will be rolled out in phases. The proposed implementation timeline is as follows:

*
December 31, 2006 – Passport required for all air and sea travel to or from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda.
* December 31, 2007 – Passport required for all land border crossings, as well as air and sea travel.

Current Requirements for Entry Into Canada

Visas are not required for U.S. citizens entering Canada from the U.S. You will, however, need:

1.
Proof of your U.S. citizenship such as your U.S. passport (For information on obtaining a U.S. passport, check with one of the regional passport agencies located throughout the U.S.) or certified copy of your birth certificate issued by the city, county or state in the U.S. where you were born. If you are a naturalized U.S. citizen and do not have a passport, you should travel with your naturalization certificate. A driver’s license, voter’s registration card or Social Security card is NOT valid proof of citizenship.
2.
Photo identification, such as a current, valid driver’s license.
