I just wanted to point out the other side. Can you tell I'm feeling guilty for not working VBS? Just trying to validate me taking a week off. It always is the same people volunteering though, for choir, Sunday School, and VBS. You always see the same people doing it ALL in a church.
You shouldn't feel guilty. You do a lot. And after this year, you deserve a break. :thumbsup2 :wizard: Enjoy it.

I am OK...Jonathan graduates on Sunday (the same day that Kirsten turns 7) so I am running around like crazy...I can't wait for next week to end. These end of the year activities are killing me!

Bill is good (thanks for asking) The moms are, let's just say fine (for the moment).

****s are back to normal..I think Bill misses it though!! :rotfl2:

:wizard: Hope your week-end goes great.

Guys I am sorry -

I was simply expressing a frustration that the same parents always seem to do everything and it would be nice to see other people step up sometimes to give those that do everything a break or at least ease their load

why do I do what I do - b/c I love being with the kids - I love that my kids beg to go to church with me and they are so excited for VBS b/c it is one of their favorite things in the world

I actually feel sorry for univolved parents b/c I think that they miss a lot of joy and fun

I guess I thought that expressing a frustration in here would be safe
:grouphug: Everyone should feel free to express frustrations safely. I'm glad you love what you do and you're right it would be nice for those uninvolved to take the burden off those who do a lot every once in a while. I found if you need a break that sometimes simply saying no and having faith that someone else will step up to the plate. :wizard: that everything looks brighter tomorrow.
ETA: Baby is finally sleepy so off to bed an hour earlier than normal. :cheer2:

Elin, we are in trouble if you and I are sharing a brain as well as you and Amy. I mentioned the baby panda cub also and I think the National Zoo would be a great idea for the DC meet!

Robyn - as long as you and Amy are willing to share the RecitalBrain it is fine with me. Just be aware that it has very short-term memory right now. And I agree that the Zoo would make a great side trip for the DDAers in July!

Well, I'm off to bed! Hopefully, the very loud frog outside my bedroom window (remind me why we wanted a small waterfall and pond there again???!!!!) is quieter tonight. Any ideas on how to quiet him down besides fried frog legs? :lmao:

find him a turtle

Where in Michigan would you be moving?

My family lives in Portage, right outside of Kalamazoo. We would more than likely settle down there as the school system is pretty good and we really like the neighborhood they live in. It amazes me that the house we are in now, we are renting to own and will buy it in Oct, will sell for at least $275,000 and it is a 1200 sq ft duplex. Up there, we would be able to buy a 4/5 bedroom house for $225,000 and the bonus is that it has a yard. Right now we have a small backyard that has a large hill and it backs up to the storm drain causway. I have lived in MD my entire life and although all my immediate family is here, I just don't see us ever getting ahead. We couldn't afford to buy a larger house as they are upwards of $400,000.

In case I forget, I'll be gone Saturday morning to Monday night. Chuck & I are going camping to our favorite campground. We used to camp there as young newlyweds. We'll celebrate our 24th anniversary there on Monday and then come home.

I will also be gone next Saturday morning through Sunday night as well. Becky has a leadership conference to attend in Lansing and I'm supposed to drive her there. I'm trying to rearrange things someone else taking her so Chuck & I can attend my friends 25th anniversary party but don't know if I'll be able to swing it. Either way I'll be gone that Saturday & Sunday.

Congrats on your anniversary! Sounds like a great way to celebrate.

Staying at the BC August 22 - September 1. I would love to meet you too. We will have to organize a day we can say "hi!"

Right now I have my days planned like this..
8/22 - Arrival. Going to hang around BC & boardwalk & epcot at night
8/23 - MK day
8/24 - AK day
8/25 - Pool sleep in day

Any park overlaps???

8/22-Epcot for AM EMH with lunch at Le Cellier at 12:50. We could easily head over to BC and Boardwalk in the afternoon or evening.
8/23-unscheduled as of yet, but a park day
8/24-Family Magic Tour at MK/pool time at POR/Epcot in evening (Biergarten at 6:15)
8/25-Last full day: Morning unscheduled/Ending at MK

I'm usually not so unscheduled at this point, but we'll be there for 2 weeks with 11 park days, so by the end of our trip I'd like to leave a little room for the family to decide what they want to do.

All of my eBay auctions have ended. I got the stuff that I wanted the most. I can't wait for it to arrive. I've already received the Build-a-bears for my brothers step kids. They are in great condition. I also received the Air Force uniform for them. Very cute and appropriate since my brother is a civilian that works for the Air Force. Lots more clothes to arrive yet. Some for the bears and some for Pal Mickey. I can't wait for the remote control convertible to arrive so that I can play with it. Pal Mickey will be home with me to test it out around June 15th. I'll make sure to get a picture and post it if he likes it!

I love Ebay! It's so much fun, isn't it!

I am in the same position as Denise...I am not doing ANYTHING for VBS this year. I have worked very hard at many things (including running VBS for a couple of years) I can remember thinking similar thoughts in the past "providing a baby sitting services, etc" The Pastor of the Church informed me that "it is not up to the lay people to worry about what other people do or not do, and that we should feel good about sharing the word of God with the children, even with the children who's parent's may not be up to our perceived standard" I thought a lot about what he said...and I think it was a good point...sometimes we all forget why we are involved in Church....

Good to "see" you around!

Beth - one of my very favorite gifts that can be done for any teacher (that is liked and admired ;) ) and is virtually free is a well thought out and written thank you note. I am serious when I say they often reduce me to tears, and I cherish them.

Thanks! I think that I'll have my kids work on this idea. I agree with you, too. Whenever a parent writes a sweet note or a child draws me a picture, it brings me to tears. I don't know why I would think it would be different for teachers of older students.

Ok, DDAs -- I'm off to bed soon, but if I could request a few prayers that would be great! My test could use a few, but that's really less concerning than all the other stuff I have to get done before bedtime tomorrow. We have some things to take care of before we leave, but some involved parties aren't really cooperating enough to allow me to set sail stress free. :guilty:

I'm sorry I can't provide more details, but God knows what's up.... and maybe Tinkerbell does too? :confused3 ;)

Nothing is wrong with any of us.... in fact, there is nothing but good stuff going on in our lives (well, after about noon tomorrow ;) ) -- there are just a few things that have to fall into place before we leave and are unable to be contacted without $7.00/minute phone calls!

I plan on checking in tomorrow and/or Saturday, but if not then I'll talk to you soon!

Prayers and Pixie dust coming your way! :wizard: :tinker: :wizard:

I had my knee surgery today and it was a breeze. We have a new surgery center and they had me in and out in less than 21/2 hours. At the hospital two years ago when I had this same surgery it took almost 5 hours to get in and out.

They also used some differnt kind of anesthesia and i felt great and very alert when I awoke from surgery. I was very impress.

I will be on crutches until Sunday afternoon adn then will be able to walk normal.

I had a torn meniscus and that part was removed. Everthing went great. I am on pain med as I am typing this so if I sound strange please excuse me. LOL

Delinda

Welcome back! I'm glad that the surgery went so well!

I'm in Poughkeepsie, which is 75 miles north of Manhattan, so I'm 2-3 hours away from you, depending on where on Long Island you are. (Of course, it could be 7-8 hours if there's lots of traffic :rotfl: )

And you're around 3 hours south of me. Sounds like you are the place to meet!
