I'm still making progress today!!! I dragged all of the wet camping stuff out of the back of Chris's truck and it is now drying on the lawn. I have also cleaned out Hunter's closet and bureau, putting away the winter stuff/small stuff and putting in the summer clothes. I think I may need to do a little shopping for him this year. Now I'm off to work on Nick's clothes.

I thought he looked the same. One of the many Clay post on the CB, has side by side pictures of how he looked than and now.

Is it just me or does anyone else think he looked like he had some work done to his face? Maybe it was just the new hairstyle that made him look different. :confused3

Wow -- that is wonderful news. Way to go, Alex! :sunny:

Can I get some advice please?

My parent's 40th wedding anniversary is Dec. 17 and I would like to do something for them. What I am thinking is a vow renewal at their church with about 25 guests (people that would definitely show up), then a reception afterwards. My parents didn't have a big wedding, so I thought this would be nice. I would invite more than 25 people, but the rest would be out-of-towners and I don't know how many would actually travel for something like this. Plus, it would be in the winter and the weather would play a big role (snow). Here are my questions:

1. Their anniv. is Dec. 17. Would it be okay to have this on Nov. 25 instead of around their actual anniv. This would work better for me, as that is Thanksgiving weekend and we will already be home, instead of going up there for the 17th and then back again at Christmas time.

2. I would like it to be a surprise (if the secret could be kept), or is this something that I should tell them and let them help plan? I'm afraid if I do tell, they would say that I don't have to do it or wouldn't want it.

3. Would it be better to just make dinner reservations at a restaurant with a banquet room or rent a room where I can have something catered and have a dj w/ dancing and such?

4. Or should I scrap the vow renewal and just have a party/reception?

Feel free to make any suggestions. I really need some input.

Glad to hear that you are feeling better, as for the female problem, try Breyers Yougert with Probiotic Plus= extra live cultures.

:lmao: on the idea you have for your future son in-law.

Coming right along, although the antibiotics are causing another female
problem, time for yogurt again. The invites have been sent and the menu is
planned, most of the decorations have been picked up, I still need
to order the cake and rent a helium tank. I've been so tied up at work lately,
I really couldn't afford to miss the time I did last week. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to staff a business here on the coast now, after the storm I sat in a daze wondering what we were going to do, my job was destroyed and my husbands was flooded under twelve feet of water. I thought we were in for a long haul as far as employment goes, but his job "dug out" and
because he is in management he went right back to work helping with the process. My company had four stores here, two of which were destroyed,
they placed any of us that wanted to work in the two stores that remained and both of those stores are still struggling to keep them staffed. I took over the HR position and it is a nightmare, in a store that only had 51 employees prior to the storm we have had over 300 turnovers.

Thanks so much for asking, I'm still trying get it straight as to who goes with what screenname, I feel like I've stumbled across a very tight knit group here that honestly care about each other and it is great. Not to mention that I love the designs.

My DD's boyfriend will be going with us on the Congrats trip and is getting really nervous about all the t-shirts I'm making. Everytime he comes over the pile is bigger. He told my DD that one of his friends said he was going to be one of "Those" people that wears matching shirts and walks around smiling and holding hands at WDW. I'm working on a design to tease him with, it's says "Yes, I'm one of those people", my oldest DD wants me to put Zip a Dee Do Da on the back, and we thought we would tell him that it's our family tradition to hold hands and skip down Main Street singing Zip A Dee Do Da, but not until we are there so he can't back out.

Hope everyone has a great day and I pray that little Rees does well with his tests.

I work in an office. We are off on the 4th but not on Monday the 3rd. I say give it to them. The employees will definitely appreciate it.

I've already tentatively marked it out, but I'm curious to see how other companies are handling it.

Hey! We have these in our Disney store .... do you have one nearby, you could call and see if they do? I can't remember all the details right off hand, but I know there was Mickey and Stitch, and they both had "Class of 2006" on the cap. Let me know if you can't find them, and I can pick some up for you!

ETA: Just reread your post, and realize you are looking for next year. Well, I guess if nothing else you can keep an eye on Disney Stores then if you remember! Sorry I'm not more help :confused3

Sorry, Jen. I can't help you. But I'm sure Kate can when she comes on. She was more of the shopper than I was, and she did buy the ears for Jennifer.

Deb -- congrats on getting so much accomplished! It's a great feeling isn't it?! I always love the feeling I get when I get to see what color carpet we have on the bedroom floor again! :rotfl:

If you want it to be a surprise, scrap the vow renewal.

I am not sure how many people would be able to make it to a Thanksgiving weekend event. That is a busy time for families.

The event doesn't have to be their anniversary date so work around it if you need to.

Speaking of which, Kate -- do you want me to pick these up? Get them in the mail? Meet somewhere? Just let me know how much I owe you, and how you want to 'complete the transaction'. Thanks again for picking them up! :teeth:

Guess what?! I got a postcard today from the World, and I didn't even realize I was on the contact list! :rotfl: I think Kate was resourceful and added me from another time she has mailed something. Or maybe I'm just losing my mind.... either scenario is quite possible. And regardless, it was a very nice idea! Thanks :teeth:

I hope everyone is well! I have to post and run. I got up really early to get a jump start on NCLEX stuff, but then I just had a 3-hour break while Kyle and I went to a meeting. Back to work if I don't want to be working until bedtime again.

"See" you soon! :goodvibes

He scared the beejeebers outta me too.

We got our postcard today too! Thank you! :goodvibes

And thank you for all the good wishes regarding our closing later today. I didn't get a babysitter, so hopefully Alyssa will be on her best behavior (and I'm taking plenty to "bribe" her with ;) ).

I hope everyone is having a great day!
Amy :)

Tammi -- I haven't done an anniversary party -- just a joint 60th birthday party for my parents, but they loved it. I don't have a lot of answers -- more like questions to ask yourself to help answer your own questions.

1. I think any time you have it, they will appreciate it. I did my parents party between their two birthdays (July 23 and Sept 27th) Since you are starting early and aren't inviting a lot of people, I would think Thanksgiving would work well. That gives time for people to adjust their schedules.

2. I love surprising people. I surprised my DH with a cruise on his 40th birthday -- went by his office (after planning with his boss) picked him up, and off to the airport we went. If your parents like surprises, I would stay with it as a surprise.

3. Location may depend on what vendors are working on Thanksgiving weekend. If the Church has a nice reception area, I would use it, and just have music playing in the background. I wouldn't go the DJ/band route with a small intimate party. If you decide not to do the vow renewal, then I would do a party in a restaurant that has a party room.

4. Has your mom ever talked about a vow renewal? Is she the type that would really like one? Although I absolutely loved my reception, it was the vows that meant the most to me, and I'm always telling my DH that I'd like to do a vow renewal.

If you do decide to do it, start looking now for old pictures that you can use for invitations and/or posters around the room.

WHATEVER you decide, you are a great daughter for doing it!

You send any contact info you feel comfortable sending to Kate. She is keeping the contact list in case we need to hunt someone down because they haven't posted in a while. She has a backup but I can't remember who the backup is. That is why I hunted Denise down myself while Kate was at Disney.
This is proabbly already answered. But I think Tammy is the back up.
