Just home from our teacher workday, so I'm done with school for this year. Still have no idea what I'm teaching or days for next fall, and I'm still waiting to hear if I got the new job at my home church. Rumor is at my current school I will be offered the music teacher job. I hope so.

Rees has to go at 8:15 in the am. Ultrasound at 9:30am, Endoscopy at 11:15am. I'm wiped out and barely holding it together at the moment. I've been crying on and off since yesterday. I am so stressed and just ready for this to be over. We're going to church tonight for the dinner, prayer shawl presentation so I may not be back on again until tomorrow night late. I will try to post here or call someone to let you know how Rees did.

Thanks for the prayers and support.

Denise, we are praying for you and Rees and the others in your family. Please know how important you are to our family! We are so privileged to have you in our group! Please draw on our strength at this time. I know you have to be feeling at your wit's end! From now, until tomorrow after the procedure, I will be sending you good, positive thoughts. I wish that I lived closer so that I could do more. Please don't hesitate to call if you need us!

I went to the doctors today for my yearly "girl" exam. It had actually been 3 years since my last visit. Everything went well and if the pap comes back normal I don't need to go again for 3 more years :cool1: . We discussed my weight loss as I was nearly 200 lbs at my last visit. She had asked me about bladder control issues which I had been having since the kids were born. I hadn't even realized that the issues had gone away with the weight  I discussed losing more weight and she really jumped down my throat about not worry about what others think and just being at a medically healthy weight. I assured her that "medically" I could still stand to lose a few lbs. She pulled up my BMI and I am at 27% which she said was really good although on the high end of normal for my height. So she agreed that I could lose 10 - 20 lbs, but that I did not NEED too. She then told me that she expects me (all women) to gain 15 to 20 lbs between the ages of 40 - 50. That is when women gain belly fat which has something to do with the ovaries shutting down and the belly fat actually produces low levels of estrogen keeping us healthier :confused3 . So I told her that I'd better get my butt in gear and lose weight now if she expects me to gain it back in a few short year :lmao: :lmao: She got a chuckle out of that.

Funny Thing: We did a skit on our campout and my 3 yr old Colby was the dentist. He had to say "Open Wide, This won't hurt a bit, HeHehehehehehe" When Colby did it he was so cute and the laugh was evil. So today when I'm in the stirups I kept hearing him say that. It was hard not to laugh.

Deb

Glad to hear things went well at the doctor's. Interesting about the weight. Makes me glad I got the weight off now!

Beth, congratulations on your new clippie!!

Kate, Kristine and Tammie I enjoyed your reports and pictures. Now if Marti, Paul and Bernadette will post theirs!

:wizard: to all who need it.

Paula, have fun tonight!

Cassidy was honored for Rocky Mountain Talent Search and Presidential Academic Excellence....we have no clue what the first one means!! Any ideas? :confused3

I think it has to do with this, based at University of Denver

http://www.du.edu/education/ces/rmts.html

We had something similar around here (a different "talent search"), in that you are offered to take the SAT/ACT early (at no charge, at least then) ... I don't think it counts for anything as far as college (the test scores), but it gives you exposure to the testing style and if you do well, you get more information from the sponsoring college about various programs they have for high school students.

I'm sure it depends on the area, but I did something similar in 8th grade. I did not end up having any interest in any of the programs offered, but I guess it was still a good experience to take the test :confused3

I would imagine you will get more info from the program at some point :confused3

ETA: Lots of congratulations to Cassidy!! :cheer2:

Rocky Mountain Talent Search (RMTS) is an academic talent search program providing opportunities for assessment, recognition, and summer enrichment programs for academically talented youth. Beginning its 24th year, RMTS invites capable and motivated 6th through 9th grade students to take the SAT or ACT college entrance test not usually taken until high school. 5th & 6th graders may take the challenging PLUS Academic Abilities Assessment, and 3rd - 6th grade students may take the exciting Explore test.

Is it this?

You beat me to it, Jennifer! Matthew has been offered several chances to take the SAT's through some program (beginning in 7th grade), but they have all been expensive ($65+test fees). He hasn't tried it yet.

I forgot before...CONGRATULATIONS, Cassidy!!!!
