June - actually to all the DDA - you really are all amazing women who handle life's struggles with grace, support friends in their times of need, show compassion, warmth and generosity - and I say if wearing fanny packs make us a DUFUS

well then:

I hope that Marti hasn't been offended. I just thought that they were busy. I miss Skunka's song of the day.

Kristine. You daughter looked beautiful in that dress.

Beth. Please report that man's behavior to the local Boy Scout Council. I wouldn't want him to be around other kids and lose it like that. It could be devasting to a lot of boys.

I worked again tonight so I have nothing new to share.

How about this one:

Do you know how
Unbelievable it is to have
Friends that are completely
Unmistakenly devoted to their family and friends... I consider them
Super Women and could care less about their fashion choices.

I just noticed that Marti posted on that fanny pack thread on Sunday (before the Coach bag lady). She hasn't posted here in ages. What's up with that? I don't remember seeing anything on here that would offend her, or did I miss something?
None of you offended Marti or Paul

why don't you all PM her and let her know you miss her!

Someone else told me that...I myself don't see it...

what a day...I also took her bra shopping...and then had the "joy of shaving" class with her :rotfl2:

All right I was trying to catch up before replying but I gotta say "No Fair!!" You got a whole extra year than I did before the shaving lesson. :rotfl:

Something disturbing happened tonight, and I'm not really sure what I should have done. I just know that I didn't do the right thing.

I was walking home from a very lovely Art Show/Ice Cream Social at the elementary school. Thank goodness my kids weren't with me. This man that I know only a little (though he has become the Scout Master for our Cub Scout pack and is an assistant leader in Miles' den), started screaming horrible things to his older (perhaps 4th grade) son. Something happened between him and the younger son (1st grade), and the 1st grader was bleeding on his face. I didn't see what happened, but I got the sense that it was accidental, not malicious. I just couldn't believe the words that this man was screaming at his son. The mother was doing nothing. I am very embarrassed to say that I also did nothing, though I came home sobbing (and I'm getting teary as I write this). Dh said that I was right to stay out of it, but I just can't help feeling for that little boy. I can't believe this is a one time thing. You don't flip out in public like that. He was truly awful. I can't even write the things he was saying, absolute obscenities and things that must have made that child feel like an absolute nothing. Even if the older one did something on purpose, the man's behavior was totally uncalled for.

Miles will no longer be allowed to be anywhere near that man, but what should I have done for the son? The boys don't know me at all, nor does the mother. I feel like I let a helpless child down completely. And I'm in tears again...

Beth

:grouphug: That had to be so hard to witness. I agree that you did the right thing. If you had stepped in, someone could have really gotten hurt there, or at home. These kinds of people don't think rationally. I do think that you should report his behavior to someone.

Is it possible for you to talk to the boy, without specifically mentioning the incident perhaps, and just let him know that if he ever needs someone to talk to, you would listen? Even if he never did, he would know that someone out there cares about him.

All right let me see if I remember at this late hour!!

Beth: I agree with what everyone else has said and your call will totally be confidential. We had someone call CPS as a payback for something I did (ummm I called the police on her arsonist child) and the only reason I know for sure it was her was she was proud of it and crowing.

Kate: hope all goes well at the Dr's tomorrow

June: Some of the mobile homes I have toured are so cool!! We went looking right before we left Billings and they were better than what we could rent. That woman made my blood boil!!

We went and saw Cars tonight. Usually when we have the free screening passes we have to be there an hour and half before the screening...the theater wasn't even half full. The one the night before from what I heard was so full they turned some away. Cars is once again a great piece of Pixar animation and I giggled a lot. :rotfl:
The irony and expense of the night? the screening was sponsored by State Farm and guess who had to use their roadside assistance with State Farm immediately after the movie? Yup we had a flat/blowout!! This was after Jim paid $700 this afternoon for the brakes....whatever money we had saved is quickly being eaten by our car!! 4 new tires are in our future!!

I've been told that they fit. His feet don't fit right in the feet of the costumes but they work. Let me know what you find out! I've seen pictures of a Pal in a Tigger costume and I've been told by the same lady that the Dumbo one is really cute on them. She's also got one other one but I don't remember which one.

Hmm, Vicki, you REALLY like that Pal Mickey, don't you! You need some grandkids!

Ok, Becky needs some pixiedust tomorrow. She is taking her drivers test to get her real license. She just wasn't ready before but the last couple of months has really wanted to drive and has done so every chance she could. The only thing I'm really worried about is the parallel parking. We don't have much of that here so it is hard to practice. We'll be spending a few hours practicing in the morning. I'll set some stakes up in the driveway. She spent 1/2 hour just driving down and backing up our driveway getting used to the feel of backing up. It was amazing how much she improved in just that 1/2 hour. There is a selfish side of me that hopes she won't pass but then the real mom side wants her to accomplish this!!!!!
:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: Some pixie dust from me and Brian :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I've had my drivers license for 21 years, and I've probably parallel parked twice since I took driver's training.

Wow! I can't believe I got all caught up!!!!! It's good to be back with my DDA family! The bad thing is that we're leaving again for a week on Monday. Try to keep it down to a dull roar, would ya?

Our trip was really fun! I'll try to post a mini trip report here tomorrow. But first I just have to say a few things (bear in mind I'm doing this from memory):

Happy belated birthday, June!! I thought about you the whole time we were at Universal Studios on your birthday! I hope it was happy!

Happy belated anniversary to Chuck and Vicki, and to Terry and her DH. Hopefully you all had good times together! Did that even make sense? Oh well!

Denise - MEGA CONGRATULATIONS ON THE JOB!!!!!!! That is so cool! You will be a wonderful teacher! I'll keep my eyes open for anything you could use to decorate your room! Also, I was so relieved to hear that things went well for Rees! DH and I had a special prayer session for him before we headed off to DL on Monday! He was so thrilled to hear that Rees is doing well, and then I was able to show him the pictures you posted, and I saw his heart swell! He's really getting into the whole DDA as family thing.

Heidi - I was able to get the Mickey ears, etc. at BABW, and I put them in the mail today. I don't have the receipts right in front of me, but I'll PM you the total! It was so fun to get that for you! And you got the last set that they had. There was almost a fight between me and another lady, but when she got a look at my gorilla of a hubby, she backed off! He wasn't about to let me disappoint you!

Amy - Sounds like your house showing is picking up! That's good and bad, right? Good, because it means people are interested, but bad because it means you always have to be ready. I'll continue to pray that your house sells quickly, and that you have a smooth transition to the new house. I love the pictures, by the way!

Kristine - Wow, on all the pictures of your family! What wonderful accomplishments, and what darling children!

Congrats to Emma on losing another tooth! That's a very big deal here at our house, too!

Paula - It's nice to see you posting again! I loved the pictures of your girls! What little darlings! I just have to say that you are amazing! The pillowcases you made for the triples are just darling! No wonder you are always so busy!

Vicki - Step away from the computer! Do not bid on anything else for PM. Just kidding. Go ahead, girl! You deserve it! Sounds like things are looking up for Chuck if they've ruled out all those bad things. I'll just have to keep praying that they find out what is going on with him.

Kate - All I have to say about the fanny pack picture is YOU GO GIRL! I looked just like that at DL and Universal studios, and I saw too many other people to count that also wore them. I love my fanny pack. I love my crocs/airwalks (with socks), and I love matching T-shirts. What would that woman say if she ran into the entire DDA looking that way! Can you picture the look on her face?

Jennifer - Good luck with the wisdom tooth! You have made up my mind for me, and I'm going to have mine out soon! I do NOT want an abcess!

Jen - Congrats on passing the NCLEX!!!! I hope you're having a wonderful time on your cruise!

Clare - Congrats on your passing grade in the one class. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the next 2 grades! I love your new avatar! It's just darling!

Steffy - It's so great to see you posting again! I've missed your posts! You always brighten my day!

Now, I know that I've missed someone, so I apologize for that! I'm having post Disney trauma, so blame it on that! Pixie dust for anyone that needs it!

I'm going to bed, and tomorrow I'll report on my trip!

Nighty night!

She is way too young to be a grandma!! We'll let her have her grandstuffies and only plan an intervention if it goes too much further!! :rotfl:

I knew I forgot someone!!

Jo-

It was really, really late when I got in tonight and the package was here!!

I hate not knowing what's all in a package so I opened it up and just saw one of the containers.....they are awesome!! :cheer2: Thanks for your generosity!!

Chuck's results are back. Negative for lupus, lyme disease, and rheumatoid arthritis. However, they did find some kind of imflammatory joint disease but don't know what. Chuck has an appointment with a specialist in Green Bay now on June 21st to have more tests.

I'm glad to hear he doesn't have lupus. I hope they figure out what is wrong soon though, and he starts feeling better soon.

I thank you all for the pixie dust. Becky passed her drivers license and is now a licensed State of Michigan driver. Of course, it wasn't as smooth sailing as it could have been. I asked her the other day about her Level 1 Learner's Permit and her Level 2 Certificate of Completion. She tells me both are in her purse. Now mind you, if Becky has to hang onto something important, she is very responsible and can be trusted to have it.

So, 2 hours before her test, we are going to leave and do some more practicing in a parking lot in town. Before we leave the house, I ask to see the documents. Guess what! She doesn't have her learners permit - she has her level 1 certificate of completion. Heaven forbid! We end up at the Secretary of State to get proof that she has had her learners permit for more than 6 months. Of course, we are talking the secretary of state shortly after the lunch hour. The wait is 45 minutes to an hour. So much for practice time. She gets herself all worked up and screws up the parking test and ends up crying. She passed it but just barely according to the tester. She then did her road test and passed. Thank goodness that is all over. I'm going upstairs to have a drink!!!!!

Yeah for Becky!!! Watch out Michigan!!!

I wish we would get a sunny day! One of my co-workers gave me a lady bug stepping stone (I have a thing for lady bugs) that is supposed to glow in the dark. However, it has to be charged by the sun first. We haven't had any sun, and I want to see it glow!!

June -- Send it to either Jennifer (bear74) or me here in TX. We have nothing but sun and hot, hot, hot temps. It's supposed to be 98 for the high tomorrow. Tomorrow night when we are the NASCAR trucks race at TX Motorspeedway, it will be a balmy 96 at 7 pm. :sunny:

Ok, if you insist, although, she's not THAT young :rotfl2: ;) Let me know when (not if)you start planning the intervention, I would like to help.

I'm all caught up!!! Yeah, now ladies, don't post anything else until I wake up tomorrow. I need some sleep!

Good morning, DDA... I cannot belive that no one has posted since 2:15 this morning! Y'all are making it easy to keep up these days :)

Hope you all have wonderful days today. I have another day off and plan to do...

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! A rare thing for me.
