This is what I have so far. I think I'll have Chris wear some brightly colored shorts and a tank and make him some "beer goggles" and put a lampshade on his head. I was thinking of using plastic beer mugs for the goggles with picures of a beautiful "10" woman taped to them. I haven't worked out all the details yet, but what do you guys think? I'm thinking of wearing one shoe and a table cloth with lots of Marid Gras Beads :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Any suggestions on what kind of table cloth would be obvious and Marti Gras looking? I think one of my kids could go as a boombox. That would be easy to make using a box. He could even have music blaring. Colby wants to be the bee hive so I might have to add beads to the bees or something to add a Mardi Gras feel. I haven't come up with anything for the third kid yet.
Deb

:confused3 ok - we don't have mardi gras over here... what's with the lampshade and only one shoe?? :confused3 :rotfl: I'm sure there is a perfectly good explanation but I'm baffled! :confused3

If I understand I might be able to make suggestions :goodvibes

What are chiggers???
Common chiggers, also known as “jiggers” and “redbugs,” are tiny pests which belie their size in the amount of torment they cause humans. Chiggers attach themselves to tender skin areas to feed. The bites cause intense itching and small reddish welts. Because chiggers are so small, they are hard to avoid. Most persons cannot see them without a magnifying glass and so the bites may be the only indication that the bugs have infested a certain area.
Of the major chigger species in Texas, probably only two are annoying to humans. One species lives in upland areas. It likes fields, grass and weed areas, wild berry patches and forest underbrush. Besides humans, it attacks a variety of domestic and wild animals, including birds, reptiles, and some amphibians. The other chigger species prefers moist habitats such as swamps, bogs, rotten logs and stumps. However, both species often live in the same general region.

POFQ. We stayed there in October, standard view. It was nice. We ended up with a courtyard view. It was nice and quiet. Short walk to the pool, laundry, main building and parking lot. I think we were in building 4. I wouldn't pay extra for a water view as the grounds are wonderful no matter where you look.

I think that I am feeling better today. Since the aches and pains keep moving I feel strange going to the doctor with no specifics. It is probably the low pressure system that has been sitting over Vermont the last week plus. I really feel fine other than moving aches and pains. If it gets worse again or other symptoms develop I'll get to the doctors. We have crappy insurance so I really hate to go for anything, especially if I don't think that it's treatable. I did promise myself that I would get a yearly exam this year as I haven't had one in 3 years, which is the new standard anyway.

I spoke with Hunter's teacher this morning and she had just finished his state reading assessment and she was so happy with his results. It seems that he tested way above the standards and was in the top band. I'm so proud of him and am actually impressed that he has started reading for enjoyment in his spare time. He has a science fair project due next Friday so we will be working on that this weekend. He is going to make various sizes of egg drop protectors using upholstery foam. The teacher suggested that he make 3 different sizes and we will test them from different heights. We already have an 8" cube made. We'll probably make a 6" cube and a 4" cube. If the 4" cube protects the egg we might have to make a 2" and test that too. Nick has a big project due on Vermont. He has chosen the Maple Syrup industry as his topic which make sense as he already knows tons about it as we have done it for years. I know that I took a lot of video a couple of years ago, but I've got to find it and hope that we took video of all the steps, otherwise he'll be making a scrapbook or brochure of some kind.

The second weekend in June we are camping and they are having a themed weekend. The theme is Mardi Gras. One of the fun events is a costume contest at the Mardi Gras dance on Saturday night. Last year I won first prize. I had a short black dress with green, gold and pink diamond patterns in the front with a mask that I had made. I wore hot pink heels and thigh high fish net stocking which sealed the deal for the dj who apparently had a thing for fish net stocking :rotfl: :rotfl: They give free nights camping as adult prizes and small gift certificates for kid prizes. Prizes go to the top 3 adults and top 3 kids. So I put my thinking cap on today to see what unusual ideas I can come up with. So please anyone not on their way to WDW could you give me ideas/opinions. I am trying to do this without buying much as it doesn't make sense to spend a bunch of money for one night.

We are doing a Hawaiian Luau at the same campground in July. I thought we were going last year, but got the weekends mixed up. I had made the costumes so I will be able to use them this year. Chris is a bottle of Hawaiian Tropic Suntan Oil, Hunter is a Palm Tree, Colby is a blue sparkly fish, I am a Tiki God Totem Pole and Nick is a Bear in a grass skirt. Those are all done.

Thanks for reading this long winded post.

Deb

I'm so glad that you seem to be feeling better today. Here's some PD that you have no problems and all the aches and pain are gone! :wizard:

All the costumes ideas sound great -- can't wait to see pictures!

As for the tablecloth, maybe a metallic one with colored squares? Would the "table" also be decorated with a feather boa? We saw lots of people with those on the last time we were on Bourbon street.

Congrats to Hunter on his school achievements!

Dawn -- sorry you have to go through that test -- it's so NOT fun, but it's great news that everything else seems to be in order.

You take care of yourself -- I hope your DH moved that mixer!

Congrats to Christopher on the swim team and last day of school.

Mardi Gras is a huge celebration in Louisiana. It is known for alcohol consumption, women flashing their b00bs in public and receiving beads for it. Lots of college students, promiscuity, beer, beads and a huge parade. People come home with boxes of beads that they have received over the course of the week. Someone else might have a better explanation as I have never been, but from the news coverage that I have seen that about covers it in a nut shell.

Good Morning DDA!!!!!!!!
Today is going to be a LONG day..Im working at my mom's work answering phones til 1230, then im working at the day care center until 6..Then i have to go shopping with mom..
My sinus infection will not go away and its driving me crazy!! i went to the ear nose and throat dr and he gave me "super strong medicine" and its not helping..my stomach is very queasy and im tired of it! i go for a ct scan next tuesday and then back to the ENT june 13..He said he may have to do sinus surgery or something if this medicine doesnt help..has anyone had surgery on their sinus before? was it horrible? Im such a medical chicken!

have a great day!
I have terrible sinus problems so I feel your pain (literally ;) ). I have had 2 sinus surgeries and I don't know if I'd recommend it or not. I guess it depends on your particular situation. I don't think I had any other options.
PM me if you want details.

As for now, I'd recommend antibiotic and cortisone shots. What meds are you taking? It takes me quite a while to start feeling better on oral meds only. Allergies trigger a lot of my sinus infections, could that be your problem too? Also a prescription nasal spray should help, though it takes a while to start feeling better on that too. Other than that I'd recommend irrigating your sinuses. It can be uncomfortable but does help.
