I did the same thing when Robyn was first posting! I just thought "Emmer's Nemo", but then once we learned the girls' names, then it clicked! :goodvibes

I never noticed how it really does look like Nemo at the end. I can't believe that Emma's nickname is longer than her actual name.

Life around here pretty much sucks today. The weather is crappy and it is predicted to rain right through the weekend. Each time I look at a report it looks worse :furious: I have packed our rain coats, but I'm beginning to think that boots might be in order too.

I called our Vet this morning he couldn't get Tiffany in until Monday unless I was willing to schedule an emergency visit (complete with the emergency price). Since I had no idea what we were dealing with I decided to find a different Vet. I ended up finding one that could see her 45 minutes later and it was just a regular visit charge (*** ? This Vet has never even seen us?) So we went and the Vet was absolutely wonderful. She spent 45 minutes checking her out and ran a few tests. She has a urinary tract infection and she suspects that she is suffering from an Immuno Deficiancy disease. She is now on Pretisone and an antibiotic. We could have a biopsy done for $400 or treat her this way. The thought is that the problems will clear up then reappear periodically for the rest of her life requiring repeat treatments. She said that it is like Lupus in humans. The biopsy would probably just confirm the diagnosis which would end up with the same treatment. Elin posted how her dog is pretisone and has to go potty NOW. I have been warned that Tiffany will have this issue while on the meds and to expect some accidents :sad2: I guess it might be a good thing that we are camping this weekend as she will be outside a lot.

:cheer2: To all the kiddos taking swiming lessons. I have taught lessons in the past I cannot stress how important it is for kids to learn how to swim and to do it young. Water is all around us and keeping our kids safe is so important. I love to hear how the kids are meeting these new challenges. As an added benefit swimming is such good exercise. Kudos to all the kids and parents out there.

:rolleyes2 I'm green with envy over all these upcoming trips. They sound marvelous.

:grouphug: :grouphug: and :wizard: :wizard: to all those out there that need a little today.

Hi all...

Been very busy lately...nothing fun either.

Somehow I am on this committee running the 5th grade gradation party...(kids go to middle school around here) Anyway...I find the whole thing insane...I feel like we are planning for a visit from the Pope!! It's no longer about the kids..it's about the crazy ideas of the parents...thankfully most of the time I can just sit and laugh about it!

Plus busy with work..have a couple of contracts that I need to firm up...

Try to post later...
Kristine

Isn't it amazing the things parents think up nowadays?

I heard someone mention an 8th grade continuation party, ummmm I don't think so, it's not like graduation from HS and not like they are going out in the real work world after 8th grade like their grandparents. They are just moving from one school building to another.
Up until this year the 5th graders in our school did DARE graduation instead of a continuation. We(some 4th grade parents) are trying to slap something together as we got notice just a couple of weeks ago that there would be a continuation.

I will get off my soap box now.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Before I was a Mom... I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth every day.

Before I was a Mom...
I cleaned my house each day.
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom...I had never been puked on.
Pooped on. Spit on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom...

I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.

I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom...

I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.

I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom...
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to f eed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom...

I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

And before I was a Grandma...

I didn't know that all those "Mom" feelings more than doubled!
Send this to someone who you think is a special Mom or Grandma

Tears again. So true, So very very true.

Okay, maybe I should be glad I'm not going on the DDA trip. It seems to have been made a rule that your life must be really hectic and crazy the week or two before leaving. I guess that just adds you to the list of those REALLY needing the trip. I hope things calm down for you soon! :wizard:

My middle name is Lynne, and when I was in my early 20's my best friend decided to change the spelling of my first name to Robyne. Thought it looked better. And to this day she stills adds that e. Which of course I don't mind, it is just when my named is spelled Robin that I hate. I have an aversion to the letter "i" I think. Emma's middle name is Elyse and everyone thinks it should have been Elise. And Molly should have been spelled Mollie.

ETA: My sister's name is Sara Anne. Most people spell her name Sarah Ann. My mom wanted her all 3 of her names to be 4 letters.

I have the same aversion but with the letter y. You can have all the y's that people try to give me and you can give me all the i's. Most people spell my name with a y at the end.

Some of you may have seen this before, but it is still worth reading again, especially with Mother's Day approaching. Warning - you will need a tissue!

This is for the mothers who have sat up all night with sick toddlers in their arms, wiping up barf laced with Oscar Mayer wieners and cherry Kool-Aid saying, "It's okay honey, Mommy's here."

Who have sat in rocking chairs for hours on end soothing crying
babies who can't be comforted.

This is for all the mothers who show up at work with spit-up in
their hair and milk stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse.

For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew
Halloween costumes. And all the mothers who DON'T.

This is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they'll never see. And the mothers who took those babies and gave them homes.

This is for the mothers whose priceless art collections are hanging on their refrigerator doors.

And for all the mothers who froze their buns on metal bleachers at football or soccer games instead of watching from the warmth of their cars.

And that when their kids asked, "Did you see me, Mom?" they could say, "Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world," and mean it.

This is for all the mothers who yell at their kids in the grocery store and swat them in despair when they stomp their feet and scream for ice cream before dinner. And for all the mothers who count to ten instead, but realize how child abuse happens.

This is for all the mothers who sat down with their children and
explained all about making babies. And for all the (grand)mothers who wanted to, but just couldn't find the words.

This is for all the mothers who go hungry, so their children can eat.

For all the mothers who read "Goodnight, Moon" twice a night for a year. And then read it again. "Just one more time."

This is for all the mothers who taught their children to tie their shoelaces before they started school. And for all the mothers who opted for Velcro instead.

This is for all the mothers who teach their sons to cook and their daughters to sink a jump shot.

This is for every mother whose head turns automatically when a
little voice calls "Mom?" in a crowd, even though they know their own offspring are at home -- or even away at college ~or have their own families.

This is for all the mothers who sent their kids to school with
stomach aches, assuring them they'd be just FINE once they got
there, only to get calls from the school nurse an hour later asking them to please pick them up. Right away.

This is for mothers whose children have gone astray, who can't find the words to reach them.

For all the mothers who bite their lips until they bleed when their 14 year olds dye their hair green.

For all the mothers of the victims of recent school shootings, and the mothers of those who did the shooting.

For the mothers of the survivors, and the mothers who sat in front of their TVs in horror, hugging their child who just came home from school, safely.

This is for all the mothers who taught their children to be
peaceful, and now pray they come home safely from a war.

What makes a good Mother anyway? Is it patience? Compassion? Broad hips?

The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and sew a button on a
shirt, all at the same time?

Or is it in her heart?

Is it the ache you feel when you watch your son or daughter
disappear down the street, walking to school alone for the very
first time?

The jolt that takes you from sleep to dread, from bed to crib at 2 A.M. to put your hand on the back of a sleeping baby?

The panic, years later, that comes again at 2 A.M. when you just
want to hear their key in the door and know they are safe again in your home?

Or the need to flee from wherever you are and hug your child when you hear news of a fire, a car accident, a child dying?

The emotions of motherhood are universal and so our thoughts are for young mothers stumbling through diaper changes and sleep
deprivation... And mature mothers learning to let go.

For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers.

Single mothers and married mothers.

Mothers with money, mothers without.

This is for you all. For all of us...

Thanks, Tammi! This always gets to me! I love to read it and think about all the mother's in my life. This year I'm extra blessed to be able to count all of you (whether you are mothers or not) as friends!

What's funny is that Vicki to me should have an "i" at the end. My one girlfriend has a thing with names that all the letters need to be above the line. ie. she doesn't like the letters g j p q y. Both of her kids names are above the line as is her husband's. Her first name is Kelly and she says the y really bugs her.

I checked our Target earlier and they didn't have any. Hopefully you or Vicki can find them

Ok, after all the talk about Zizzlingers yesterday, I had to see if I could find them. I went to one Walmart and found the superhero ones near the "value" toys. They were completely out of Princess ones. Next we went to Target and they had no superheros, but they did have 3 Princess ones. I bought them all up. We are going to use them as motivators for the kids to keep their rooms picked up, or some other chore that they despise. So, I won't be able to see them in action for a few days. Once they are "opened", I'll post which ones we got. Apparently they are very popular here, so you have to snap them up fast!
