You have every right to feel frustrated! Working with a control freak can be the most exasperating thing ever! I think you may have the right idea with just stepping back and telling the VBS lady that it looks like she has things well in hand, and obviously doesn't need your help.

I wish I could do something more than just listen, but since I can't you can use my ear anytime :listen: (is it just me, or is this guy vaguely disturbing?).
This would be my advice as well.

It's not just you! He reminds me of that mouse that grew a human ear in a lab! It doesn't quite look right! :rotfl:

I am a procrastinator but I was organized before the kids. Since I didn't really have routines, things got out of control after I had them. My control journal is a little "out of control" at the moment but I like having everything in one place. Wish lists, lists of movies we own & those we want, addresses, sizes for everyone, my to-do list (for this, I follow the rules from my Getting Things Done book by David Allen), etc.

I've only just started pulling my journal together - I like the sound of putting wish lists and stuff like that in it :thumbsup2

Might check out that David Allen book too :)

What I like about the book is he talks about technology and that the to-do lists of yesterday aren't practical in our fast paced society. We don't have time to determine what is urgent, critical, etc. I've read many, many books on organizing day-to-day work and this is the first one that helped. Flylady is great but the one piece that was still missing for me was filled by Getting Things Done.

I hope everyone had a good weekend! We're still working hard trying to get all of the baby stuff cleaned and put away. We got a lot done yesterday but we still have a lot to do. I have so many piles everywhere we can hardly walk through the house!

A word of warning to anyone storing clothes, especially baby clothes. DO NOT store them in mothballs. My SIL loaned me some beautiful clothes when Christopher was born that she had stored in mothballs. I was able to air them out and he wore them a few times. I kept them in case the next child was a boy not realizing that the smell wasn't really gone. Well, I stored them with ALL of Christopher's sleepers that I *would have* been able to re-use with this baby. I looked up how to get the smell on the Internet and read several places that the smell and chemicals can still be toxic even if you can't actually smell it. So...I threw away every bit of clothing that even remotely had the smell. That means tons of sleepers (Christopher had reflux so bad we couldn't keep up with the washing so we had lots and lots of sleepers), onesies, socks, booties, gowns, etc. Plus all of the preemie clothes he wore in the beginning. I could just cry.

Plus, the same SIL offered me some of her daughter's clothes but I'm sure they were packed the same way and so I won't be able to use them :(.

On a positive note, Christopher starts swimming lessons today and we're really excited. He regressed last year so I hope he remembers this year and we get the most out of the next two weeks.

Have a good day everyone!

Dawn - that sucks about the clothes!!!

I just realized that I think I am going to have to quit VBS anyway - it is a week after the festival and the bulk of the work will have to be done at the end of May - probably right when I will be having surgery (assuming I have surgery)

I can not have both of these HUGE projects happening at once - Steve is helping me with the Festival workers but the VBS is all me and I can not have that sort of commitment

WOO HOO - I have an easy out - I am going to wait and see what the doctor says on Wednesday and then I will probably let her know that I will have to bow out - it is early enough that she can find a replacement - or do it herself

Thanks for the info. I've added them to my list. I'll definitely be checking out the Yuletide Fantasy tour. We like tours. It says it starts at Epcot but mentions parks so hopefully would include Magic Kingdom. That is so cool. I had never heard of that one.

Our whole family did this tour a few years ago (maybe more than a few ;) ) and liked it very much. It started out at Epcot and included MK and MGM as well as Wilderness Lodge. I have heard reports from others since then that say they have done a few different things than we did, but I still loved seeing how they get WDW ready for Christmas and where they store everything when it is not in use. My dear family did not enjoy it as much as I did, I have to admit. But we were very fortunate... there were just the 4 of us and a driver and a guide. So the information we got and the attention we received was just super!

:bounce: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JENNIFER :bounce:

(This is as fancy as I can get since I am having an AWFUL time with the DIS today!)

Kate, just tell the festival control freak to back off. As for VBS :yay: for having an easy out.

Hope Nick is feeling like his old self in no time. :wizard: :grouphug:

Hi everyone! Life here has finally gotten back to normal after a busy weekend. My parents left this morning, right before I took Alyssa to preschool. Poor Alyssa cried and cried. But they are coming down again in 2 weeks, for Mother's Day weekend.

I have been reading and keeping up, but I don't even want to try to remember everything because I know someone will get left out and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes for Alyssa. She loved them all and felt very special.

To all the sick, injured and sad, know that you all in my prayers that things turn around for you. :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

Kate-

Hope Nick feels better shortly.

Sounds like your knee is giving you a wonderful "out".
So frustrating working with not one but two control freaks!!

I am sitting here flabbergasted

I made a reservation using my DVC points for my MIL about 10 days ago - and I have never received a confirmation from them - so I called today to ask them to fax it to her (she arrives on Wednesday)

the lady told me they can't fax out confirmations :confused3 what the hell is that all about

and don't they know that this will NOT be okay with my MIL who is OCD when it comes to details?!?!?!

I don't know what to do b/c I don't want to call and tell her they won't fax it

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it's smart to quit the VBS. You definitely don't need to overload yourself with your knee the way it is.

Nice to see you back, Tammi! I'm glad the weekend was fun for everyone. Did you end up at IHOP?

How fun that you'll get to see your parents again for Mother's Day! I wish I could see my mom then. Unfortunately, that's not in the cards, so I'll settle for a nice long phone chat with her. Luckily, I get to spend 2 and a half weeks with her in June so I think I can wait until then.

Thanks Glynis. I've missed being able to chat with everyone on here. How far away from you is your mother?

We didn't end up at IHOP. Once I told her that they don't sing happy birthday at IHOP she opted for the 'peanut place' (where you get a bucket of peanuts on the table and you can throw the shells on the floor), otherwise known as Logan's Steakhouse. YUM! Our waiter took her up front and center in the restaurant and announced to everyone that it was her 4th bday and everyone sang. She felt so special. I will post some pics when I have time.

Woohoo!!! My Dec. trip is booked! Chuck & I will be at Disney Dec. 1-5 at POR. We arrive about 1:00 pm on Friday and leave at 3:30pm on Tuesday. I'm calling to see if I can get MVMCP tickets for Dec. 4. I will be upgrading to AP's before the trip since we'll be going again in March (& hopefully Oct. 2007).

So now I need to research what else we want to do while we are there. We want to spend our time seeing the things that are special for the holidays. We probably won't ride many rides (except POTC since it was upgraded since we were there). So ... what are your favorite holiday things to see?

 We definitely need to meet up since we are staying there too!!!!!!!!!!! You can meet my MIL! :rotfl2:

Well, I had been debating and debating sneaking down for my birthday and then saw the stuff about Priceline and $36 at Music and Sports. I decided to take a chance and ended up with 5/21 at Music and 5/22-24 at Sports. I am going to add the 20th today at AP rate hopefully. Looking at airfare I think we'll get to MCO around 3. I was thinking Spectro and Wishes that night as well. I'm going to figure out today what we're doing the other days as soon as I get the airfare locked in.

Tia!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited for you!!!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc

 Hi to the rest of the DDA!!

Happy Birthday Paul, Alyssa and Jennifer!

Denise- glad Rees is doing better. I have my fingers toes and anything else I can think of crossed that he won't need surgery

Kate- Ditto to you on the surgery too! :goodvibes I'm glad Nick seems to be improving. When I was about 6 I had the same kind of thing with the yo-yo fever. I didn't feel that horrible, but my Mom was a wreck! It lasted about a week if memory serves (but what do I remember- I was 6!!) Hang in there!

Amy- sorry about the open house :( I hated having them when we were selling. We only did the one weekend and said never again! We sold by owner using a local firm that posts virtual tours on the internet and that kept a lot of traffic down since people had already seen the house on-line. Only serious buyers actually walked through. We were on the market for 1 week with NOTHING, had 2 people walk it the second week and we had 3 offers the third week. Hang in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :grouphug:

To everyone else :wave2: I am doing my best to stay caught up!! I may even go design today :rolleyes1
