Some people! :badpc: (not quite deserving of a "furious" smiley, so just pretend with me :rotfl: )

I posted some of my Zoo Blooms pics on the photography board. Lots of nice comments made, other Cincinnatians joined in and shared theirs, it was going well. And the thread still IS going well, which I should be thankful for. But someone had the nerve to PM me and ask if they could have a copy of the original lion file. At first I thought nothing of it. A few people have asked for pics, and I don't mind sharing.

She goes on to say she "can't bear to look at it anymore" because the photo is "so sucked of color". ***?! I look to see if I can figure out what she's talking about. Sure enough, picture looks perfectly fine to me -- even the grass is bright green, so I didn't know what she was talking about. I was a little insulted!

But then I figured it out. And PMed her saying, "I don't mind sharing the copy at all. Can I ask though, what you found was lacking in color?" Sure enough it was the lion that was making her not be able to "bear looking at it anymore". Sheesh! So I politely replied, "I don't mind if you play with it still, but it's one of Seigfried and Roy's white lions...... so he is supposed to be that color". :rotfl:

ETA: Still no response from her. I'm hoping to see what she "did with it" to "fix it", becasue I'm SURE she just upped the saturation or (please no,) COLORED the lion yellow!
:scared1

Some people are just so rude :furious:

Can't believe she thought you messed up the colour though, maybe she doesn't know about white lions :rotfl2:

Oh come on!!! Beowulf is great! Adventure, gore, supernatural villains, etc. That was one thing I taught my seniors that the boys all loved. Of course, they didn't have to read it in Olde English like I did in University. That makes a big difference. The right translation can make or break a story. What about Chaucer? Anyone up for some Canterbury Tales?

I'm glad that you enjoyed Shakespeare, though. Too many people don't, and I can't understand that!

I haven't done any Olde English except for Shakespeare - and I think he rocks! I love Midsummer night's dream and Hamlet. Haven't read a lot of his plays though so I should really go through some more.

Oh here's a funny tale.

I never read Romeo and Juliet but knew he died in it... so I went to the cinema to see the leonardo movie and spent the whole time waiting for him to die... then there was the whole death scene and I had tears streaming down my face and was so angry that Shakespeare killed them both! My friends couldn't figure out why I was so upset until they realised I didn't have a clue how it was going to end :rotfl2:

Hope you are all doing well, the kids fevers are better, & spring is sprung for us all.
Pear-shaped! Perfect word for my day yesterday too :thumbsup2

We got married in the middle of a semester. We had a freak blizzard, the priest was an hour late, even though the parsonage was across the parking lot, his sermon was on how a woman should stay home and procreate, my FIL got in a bar fight, Jim went the wrong way down a one way in front of the cop, then we realized we had run out of gas. Have 2 wedding pictures because our photographer never gave us the rest. We always say we survived the wedding we can survive anything.

Theresa -- Your story re: the sermon made me chuckle because it reminded me of my friend's wedding last Sept. First the rabbi said they should have a baby soon after the wedding. Then her father mentioned it during his toast. Then the best man said something in his toast. Then the groom's brother went on and on about keeping the spark alive and not denying each other's wants and needs, etc, etc. (the brother's wife must have been dying since he basically announced that he feels she has cut him off from "turtle time"). :rotfl2: :lmao:

The whole thing was funny to me because it wasn't happening to me. God forbid that should come up at my wedding!

Well, the computer gods were obviously not listening to you.

I got all set up to do my presentation, and was taking notes on the other student who was presenting, when all of a sudden my computer shuts down. Completely. It wasn't the electricity, because the lights stayed on and the TV in the other room was on; just the computer. I panic, turn the computer back on and, as fast as my fingers can, I log back on to the University site. I calm down as I realize the other student is still presenting, so I take a couple of deep breaths, and....yup, you guessed it, the computer shut down again. I repeat the above steps, with an added emphasis on panicking, get all set up again, and the computer shuts down again.

This time, I know I'm missing my turn to present, so I grab my cell phone, and call the professor. He's understanding, and agrees to help me record my presentation tomorrow so he can put it on the Discussion site, and I won't be out any grade, since it's not my problem.

Let's just say it's not the way I wanted it to go, but oh well! Life goes on, right! Someday I'll laugh about it. Well, I'll probably laugh about it tomorrow morning, but right now, I'm just flummoxed! :confused3
:scared1 :faint:

Oh no Glynis - after all of your prep and being all dressed up and ready! You'll do just as great today on the recording though - and :thumbsup2 to your prof for being so understanding and helpful :grouphug:

Ok, DDA listen to this story. Apparently the brain travels to the family members as well, somehow :confused3

I was telling my family about about "wonky" at dinner this evening. And IMMEDIATELY, my dad says "well, caddy whompus is a word too, but when I used it at work they thought I was nuts". I really thought I had alread told the story or something, but nope -- he was just ahead of me! :rotfl:

:rotfl:

Glad to hear you're teaching your family some useful words Jen :thumbsup2

Wow it's busy here this morning!

Kate - I love the poems for Jen - they're perfect. Glad Nick is on the mend and that you had a great time at the show.

I have a song for the day if that's ok... if y'all know it... DH started singing it in bed last night and then I picked up and we were so surprised I could remember all the words to a kids song I haven't heard in years - he was :rotfl:

So here goes:

There were 10 in the bed and the little one said
roll over roll over
so they all rolled over and one fell out and bumped his head and gave a shout
please remember to tie a know it your pajamas
single beds are only made for
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
9 in the bed and the little one said... (repeat until no one in the bed...)

Who's up for the next verse?

:goodvibes:

I'm running late late late for work now - gotta dash... agghhh and still gotta get that right croc in the dryer

I think it was the gore that bothered me. Yep I read Chaucer as well. I like Shakespeare's comedies more than the tragedies.

As I seem to have diarrhea of the mouth (or fingers) tonight, as my mother would say, just one last story before I hop off to bed.

I went to a literary reading by David Sedaris earlier this week. Haven't laughed like that in ages. He is hysterical! If you haven't read any of his work, do yourself a favor and pick up one of his books. They include Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day (about living in France as an American), and the Santaland Diaries (about his experiences as a Macy's Christmas elf wearing green tights). He read us some of his new work and we laughed until our cheeks hurt.

Not so unlike being on the DDA some nights!

DBF, some friends and I are off to see Jimmy Buffet on Friday night (tomorrow for me, today for the early risers!). Wish us luck as it is supposed to rain and we have lawn seats! It hasn't rained all week, and isn't supposed to the rest of the weekend, but it is supposed to pour all day tomorrow and tomorrow night. Yuck! I hate mud.

Then Saturday night, two girl friends and I are having a grown-up princess party! We are going to watch Princess Diaries 1 and 2, Princess Bride, and probably Cinderella. We are going to use Amy's famous cookie recipe and make cookies in tiara, shoes and other girly shapes. I have several tiaras which we will all have perched on our heads. Think we are going to run around in our jammies too. All of this while the guys are at Hooters and Dave & Buster's for a bachelor party. I'd say it's a fair trade, wouldn't you?! Frankly, I think we'll have more fun!!

The girls and I are dying to go to the new Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo-tique at Downtown WDW. I haven't seen where it has an age maximum, and we want to get princess up-dos with sparkly tiaras and glitter in our hair. What is Disney if not a place to be a child again. So bring on the princess fun!!

As you can tell from all my posts tonight, I have my serious side (work, literature such as Shakespeare, Junior League) and my fun side (Disney!, DDA, BABW, Princess stuff and anything pink).

Okay, time for bed. Talk to you all at some point this weekend or on Monday!!

The highlight of my wedding night was having my husband use the F word when his brother blocked us in the driveway. Mind you, my husband doesn't swear!!! He was very stressed out because of his family. We got one night at a hotel and then had to head back to school. Chuck started grad school on Monday and I started summer classes on Monday.
I spent my wedding night with another man. My DH spent most of the evening after the reception with his business partner drinking and talking(true definition of a workaholic is whether your willing to discuss business on your wedding night. :rotfl: ) A friend of both of ours stayed to keep me company so we visited. At least we had all that extra time in the limo on the way from the church to the country club reception for me to meet the turtle. ;)

I HATE when Bob does that! And I bet he looked at you like you were nuts when you were short tempered with him. I don't think DHs realize how mujch it takes to get ready to travel, especially when there are children involved. I hope the night ended better, Kristine and that today is a tad brighter for you....... and Bill ;)

Colby had another guardian angel on duty today. We have a slide in our back yard that comes out of the top of their "tree House". It is about 15 feet tall. Colby was going down it today and about 1/2 way down fell off the side. I was in the house and heard him scream/cry. I'm guessing that he fell about 6 feet and according to him he landed on his head. Judging by the dirt on his shoulder I think that may have taken the brunt of the fall. He complained of his head hurting for at least 1/2 an hour and he wanted me to lay down and go to sleep with him. I kept him awake and his pupils were equal and reactive, he was able to move everything and visually seemed ok. I got the impression that he was more scared than anything. He wants us to take the slide down now, and it might be a good idea until he is older and able to better control himself. As a treat I had planned to take him to work with me this afternnoon for about 45 minutes until Chris got out of work and could pick him up as he can't go to my parents house with the Whopping Cough. I was glad to have him with me as I could keep an eye on him. He absolutely loved working with me and kept calling himself my helper. He did not want to leave and the customers really enjoyed having him seat them. He also said that he was all better before he left. Chris said that he acted completely normal tonight. I plan to wake him before I go to sleep just to make sure that he can be awakened easily and give me a little peace of mind. So there is my unfortunate story for today, but I'm thankful that all seems to be ok.

Deb

Deb - that must have been scary for both you and Colby. I am glad that he appears to be OK. Give him a hug from all his DDA PseudoMoms :grouphug:

OMG! Glynis, I am so sorry. That must have been a terrible panic moment (or several). I'm glad you have such a positive attitude, and that the professor was so understanding. Good luck today recording it, I am sure you will do great. It sounds like you are very prepared.

My life isn't as bad as you all seem to think. I am doing better I go through this every once in awhile that I feel I am doing to much. In a few days I will be over with it until the next time. I have always been involved in everything under the sun and very busy. Sometimes it just really gets to me, most of the time I don't mind.

Have a good night. I have to gather some stuff for the sleepover tomorrow and head to bed.

Becky

It is not that we think your life is bad, Becky.... it is that yesterday you were hurting because of all the choices that you have made and the actions of others concerning those choices. We wanted to try to make you feel better because we love you.
