Beowulf I loved!!! I think, for me, with Les Mis, it was all the unnecessary description of places, clothing, etc., that I had a hard time with. I just wanted the story to move along!

School is going well. I do my final presentation at 6:00 tonight, and I can't wait for it to be over. I'm really stressing about it, even though I know I'm prepared. I just feel so inadequate having been out of school longer than any of the other people in the class, so I feel like I have to prove something to myself, and everyone else. Once I get this presentation over, I can start studying for the final exam which is Monday, and then I'm done! I feel quite confident about the exam, so I'm not worried about that. With this semester over, I only have one more required class, one elective class, and student teaching and then I'll have my Library Media certification. I'm pretty excited about that!
Good luck tonight Glynis. :wizard:

Paula -

did you PM me Bethie's fever?

At 5:30 am we heard Nick sobbing - Steve found him on his way down the steps and very disoriented - he brought him into bed and I didn't even have to take his temp to know he had a fever! He refused any medicine and fell asleep immediately (Nick always refuses meds so the Doctor has told me as long as he is able to sleep and is drinking I can let the fever go as long as it doesn't go too high)

He woke up this morning at about 8:30 and asked for the TV - I asked if he wanted a drink or meds and he said no - he says nothing hurts - so I let him lay there - my wild child has not gotten off my bed yet today - he did drink some juice and the fever is about 102 (he won't sit still for me to know for sure)

I am so tired!!

on the upside - DH brought me graeter's chocolate chip ice cream home last night - I stopped myself short of eating the whole pint!!!
I hope Nick gets better as fast as Bethie did! :wizard:

Clare, what are you working toward with your schooling? How much longer do you have? I know it was much harder for me working and going to school at the same time. Definitely worth it in the end though!!!!

:wave2:

I just started in January studying towards a Masters in e-business. It's a three year course and I study over the internet. (I already have two under-grad degrees, one from uni, and the other was a distance learning course when I started work)

I work as a website editor and spend my life on the net so this is a great course for me - it's like a business studies course but all centered around the internet.

It's hard work but I'm enjoying it :thumbsup2

Who wants to help me write scavenger hunt clues?! :rolleyes1

Here's the (vague) plan. I have a spot I'm going to leave a note for Kyle telling him to be on the lookout for pieces of the puzzle.

Each day (or however often it needs to be), I plan on giving him a clue that leads him to a particular place/item/etc around the house. Once he's there, there will be a ziploc bag of color coordinated puzzle pieces I am in the process of decorating.

Eventually, he'll have all the pieces to multiple mini-puzzles (although I will not tell him how many, but the colors should make it not SO hard ;) ), that will spell out why we're going on this trip....

and the final one will be of the Wonder!

Kind of cheesy, but I need to start now if I want to reveal it by May 4th (see weight loss thread for that one  ).

SO.... any ideas? I'd love for them to be rhyming, mystery-like as opposed to just "something you wear on your feet :rotfl: ".

PM me if you come up with something, or post here -- whatever works!

ETA: I'm off to run errands and then eat at a Sri Lankan restaurant with a friend of mine. Who knew there was one nearby?! :confused3

I'll check back once I get back, in case there are any clarifications that need made, etc. You all have always been so good at this stuff, so I hope someone is up for it! :teeth:
OOhhh....like the Amazing Race, only different...

So I really don’t want to post about my last week as it will probably bring me to tears again but I feel I need to update my DDA family and also to get some of these things off my chest to perhaps reduce my stress level.
Becky, I am speechless. I wish there was something that I could do or say to take away some of the stress and frustration you are feeling. When you are feeling bad, just hop on the DIS and one of us will be around to make you :teeth: , even if it is just for a short time. This place is so uplifting.

I hope you can make it to the DC meet. I would love to meet you!

Last thing and then back to bed (worst migraine I've ever had)

My Uncle Gerald passed away last night. I just can't handle all the saddness anymore. Good man, good family. Makes me miss my mom (breast cancer) I'm going back under the covers
I'm so sorry, Marti. :grouphug: :grouphug:

I hadn't heard of it either. Merriam-Webster says the definitions are British. So maybe Theresa's family picked it up somewhere? :confused3 Her definition was right on!

http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/wonky

You weren't alone though! I like the word, it's fun :teeth:

ETA: I'm a nerd, aren't I? :rotfl:

I'm really leaving now, running late in fact -- but I had to know why I had never heard the word

We've always used wonky, too, and I didn't even realize that it was British.

Rees goes tomorrow morning at 7:30am for his Upper Endoscopy and Bravo pH Probe test at Scottish Rite hospital in the surgery center. Rees will have General Anesthesia for the tests, so I'm not sure when we will get home tomorrow.

He has been off the Reflux meds since Wed am. After the Bravo pH probe is placed during the surgery, we will feed him the acidic diet through Sunday morning. We turn in the monitoring device either on Sunday or Monday am to get the results of the pH probe test. Once the doctor reads it, then he will decide if Rees needs to have his Fundo surgery repeated.

Thank you all for the emails, prayers, and calls. I will keep you updated on his progress.

Becky,

I want to say first off I wish I could give you a hug.

Now, this is JMO but girl you do way too much. You need to slow down. You need to do something for yourself. I am not saying quit the scouts or quit one of your jobs, I am saying SLOW DOWN.

I do however think you should do some things for you. Go take a pottery class, or buy yourself gift certificate for a few massages and then send your self a card that is funny with the gift certificate in it.

I don’t have any idea where you live so I can’t search for fun new things for you to try, but….. IMO you need Becky time. Oh, go get your hair done, new style (make sure they wash, dry and style it for you (that’s the fun part) and a manicure.

This may sound not so nice, but what did your work do before you worked for them? What will they do when you move on? What about the GS? They haven’t had you forever. What did they do before Becky? What will they do after you? They will make it happen.

Becky the military has taught me that just because I am good at what I do, I will not always be in that exact job and they will have to go on with out me. And they do.

As far as this man is concerned, I agree with ***. Maybe you could ask him to have his wife go out with you both when she gets back. (I am not sure if I meant that in a funny way or serious because it could be taken either way).

Take care of yourself and don’t forget to check in. Or the Queen will give you a talking to.

Bless you!

Is it dumb that even though this is an Internet class, and I don't actually see anyone, we just use a microphone link up, I am "power dressed" for this presentation? I even did my hair and makeup. It gives me confidence I think. I am wearing my Mickey Mouse earrings, and my 50th Anniversary Disneyland bracelet! Makes me happy!

I'll pop in tonight and report on how it went.

It's not crazy at all! It's just like Flylady's dressed to shoes. Also, the founder of Mary Kay (I think) always insisted that reps be dressed for business before making phone calls because the clothes change everything. It it makes you feel confident, then that it just what you should do. Plus you've got the Mickey thing going for extra luck. :wizard: :) :thumbsup2

We'll be praying for Rees tomorrow and that he handles the hospital and procedure well. I hope that the tests give the doctors the info they need without too much discomfort for Rees. Many :grouphug: , prayers and :wizard: for you all. :grouphug:

Good luck tonight, Glynis! I think your outfit (and your attitude) sound fabulous! Knock 'em dead! :thumbsup2

Kate - hope Nick is feeling better.

Denise - thanks for the update on Rees. We will be praying for the little guy. My parents and in-laws are always asking me for updates on him. :goodvibes

I love the addition of "wonky" to our vocabulary. I've been trying to add it to my vocabulary today - it just makes me smile. :)

Dawn - I hope you get to feeling better, too.

You mean you don't use wonky?? What kind of language do you have over there?? :rolleyes1

Wonky - means askew or wobbly - or just not quite right...

As in - my dining table is wonky as one of the legs is shorter than the other...

:teacher:

Which reminds me - I must go put my right croc in the dryer :)

Clare, the West coast language is different than the East and the South, well lets not go down that road.

SSP#2 is on hold for the day, the embroidery machine needs a good cleaning after the last SSP, the sewing machine needs to be lubed, and my surger (sp) needs to be rethreaded.

You all will be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow. Try to get some rest tonight in case the next week or so is rough. Is the procedure tomorrow an outpatient thing or will they keep him?
