We asked Kate to design a Pal Mickey Kate original for us a couple of weeks ago. I got the tees done tonight and sent off to Deb & Kristine. Here's a picture of PM in his tee.

PMidpicture.jpg

Oh he's so cute! And I love the design on the tee too... I can't wait until he comes to me for a visit :goodvibes

UP Disney said:
He wants to check out as many places as he can. This would be great. He'll have blank tees in his suitcase for people to make custom tees. As they get made, I want people to let me know and I'll order more blanks. They are only $2 a piece when you order in large enough quantities.

For our newest members to this thread, we have three Pal Mickey's that will be travelin' around the country & across the ocean to visit DDA members and see the sites. Since I can't get around to see everyone, I wanted my Pal to visit with anyone interested instead. They are pretty much booked until December at this point. Theresa (babytrees), Deb (my3princes), & myself are getting his wardrobes, etc. together. They are going to Vegas, Poconos, Utah, Disneyland, Disneyworld, Washington DC, and so many more places that I don't remember them all.

We are leaving 12/30 for our New Years Week at Disney if he is available then he is welcomed to go with us.

Lynn

OMG - my cousin lives in San Pedro - what a small world - I bet you know each other!!

You should find somewhere else to buy your gas though b/c I just talked with her this afternoon and she told me her gas is at about 2.85 a gallon there

my favorite place to go eat when we are there is Kokopelli's - do you like it?

I also like San Paulo's - have you eaten there? Her best friend was a waitress there in High School and still knows the owner so we can drink there for free!! :thumbsup2 Maybe that is why I think the food is so good ;)

Do you play golf - I have played at Paa-Ko before - what do you think of the course?

Where exactly do you live - I can't believe you live there - most people have never even heard of it!!!

julia & nicks mom said:
Okay - so we all know San Pedro is a ghost town don't we?

my DH laughed and said people were going to think my cousin lived in a ghost town - I assumed everyone knew it was one and that of course I was referring to an area outside of it -

here is a link to pictures of it -

http://www.rozylowicz.com/retirement/san-antonio/san-antonio.html

when I visit it - I always think of the brady bunch episode :lmao:

Wow! A ghost town... I wasn't sure if they only existed in the movies an on tv shows. Cool pirate:

Tell her to keep feeding that passion. I LOVED basketball. Wasn't very good but I loved it so much I practiced. In 9th grade, I started out sitting the bench. At the end of the season, I was pulled to Varsity for the tournaments and was on the varsity team my sophomore to senior year. I got all-conference honors all three years on varsity. It was the passion that fed my desire to get better. The best players aren't always the ones that start off the best. It is the passion that makes an excellent player.

Well said, Vicki! That lesson could be put to use in lots of things, don't you think?

Hi Lynn :wave2: We're catching up on the same pages!

June - I've read that story before - in fact I think another DDA posted it... but thank you for posting it... it had just as much impact as it did the first time - and does make you think about the little things that you do in life and how they can affect people.

:goodvibes

Hi DDA! I have a whole lot of pages to catch up on, but I got the following in an email today and thought I would share, since it is sort of the way the DDA is - touching each other's lives.

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was
walking home from school.

His name was Kyle.

It looked like he was carrying all of his books.

I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday?

He must really be a nerd."

I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends
tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.

As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him.

They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so
he landed in the dirt.

His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet
from him.

He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes

My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around
looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.

As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks.

They really should get lives.

" He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!"

There was a big smile on his face.

It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.

I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived.

As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him
before.
He said he had gone to private school before now.

I would have never hung out with a private school kid before.

We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books.

He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.

I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends

He said yes.

We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked
him, and my friends thought the same of him.

Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again.

I stopped him and said, "Boy, you are gonna really build some serious
muscles with this pile of books everyday!"

He just laughed and handed me half the books.

Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends.

When we were seniors, we began to think about college.

Kyle decided on Georgetown , and I was going to Duke.

I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a
problem.

He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football
scholarship.

Kyle was valedictorian of our class.

I teased him all the time about being a nerd.

He had to prepare a speech for graduation.

I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak
Graduation day, I saw Kyle.

He looked great.

He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school.

He filled out and actually looked good in glasses.

He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him.

Boy, sometimes I was jealous.

Today was one of those days.

I could see that he was nervous about his speech.

So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!"

He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and
smiled.

"Thanks," he said.

As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began

"Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those
tough years.

Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your
friends...

I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift
you can give them.

I am going to tell you a story."

I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first
day we met.

He had planned to kill himself over the weekend.

He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to
do it later and was carrying his stuff home.

He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.

"Thankfully, I was saved.

My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable."

I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us
all about his weakest moment.

I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile.

Not until that moment did I realize it's depth.

Never underestimate the power of your actions.

With one small gesture you can change a person's life.

For better or for worse.

Well it is a new day,

Song of the Day:

I Wan'na Be Like You, from The Jungle Book

You are all in trouble now. I did The Jungle Book musical the last year I taught in public school. This was DD27's favorite song when she was a baby. I know every lyric... :thumbsup2

Now I'm the king of the swingers
The jungle VIP
I've reached the top and had to stop
And that's what botherin' me
I wanna be a man, man-cub
And stroll right into town
And be just like the other men
I'm tired of monkeyin' 'round!

Oh, oo-bee-doo
I wanna be like you-oo-oo
I wanna walk like you
Talk like you, too-oo-oo-oo
You'll see it's true-oo-oo
An ape like me-ee-ee
Can learn to be human too

(talking going on here)

Now don't try to kid me, man-cub
I made a deal with you
What I desire is man's red fire
To make my dream come true
Give me the secret, man-cub
Clue me what to do
Give me the power of man's red flower
So I can be like you

You-oo-oo
I wanna be like you-oo-oo
I wanna talk like you
Walk like you, too-oo-oo-oo
You'll see it's true-oo-oo
Someone like me-ee-ee
Can learn to be
Like someone like me...
Can learn to be
Like someone like you...
Can learn to be
Like someone like me!

I am only up to page 1725 and have so much to go. Here is what I have to say so far………

Denise, Lynn, Julia - How was the Cheesecake Factory? I don’t want to know how fun it was to meet other DDA’ers, I want to know what kind of cheesecake you all had.

I do hope you all had a nice time.

Yes we had a great time. We all ordered two pieces of cheesecake ToGo.

My husband requested the Plain Original Cheesecake and I brought the Strawberry Cheesecake for my daughter. Melissa watched Alex for me since David had to take Austin to his 8pm baseball game. Alex needed to be in bed by 8:30pm since he has CRCT testing at school this week. It made me feel better about going out knowing both of the boys were taken care of.

I can't remember what Julia and Denise brought home??

Dinner was so much fun. :goodvibes Julia and Lynn are wonderful. We had a really good time. We talked for 3+ hours. :hyper2: Poor waiter, we didn't even order for almost an hour 'cause we couldn't find the time to look at the menu. I had the Thai Steak Salad, Lynn had crab cakes and a salad, and Julia had the salmon salad. And of course we had Diet Coke to drink. :drinking1 I think we each had 3 or 4 glasses. All of us got cheesecake to go. Hunka, I got John the Oreo chocolate! I've had a little of my Carrot Cake Cheesecake. It's so rich. We're going to do a family cookout this summer with the kids and husbands. It was wonderful to meet some DDAers!

Here's a picture of us after dinner. BTW, Lynn commented on how her b**b makes my waist look so tiny! I told her she has to be in all my pictures from now on. :rotfl:

L-R: Lynn, me, Julia

Denise
-- thanks for posting a picture. I never even thought of taking the camera to the coffee shop when I met Tammi. I guess we will have to do it again.

Looks and sounds like y'all had a great time.

Vicki-Can I get you something for Pal Mickey on my trip next week as payment for taking notes while I'm away on my 2 trips? You seem to be the DDA scribe. :teeth:

I've got so much I should be doing instead of DISing so I'm not sure how much I'll be here even before I go away.

Pal Mickey is always happy to have new stuff but it isn't necessary. I enjoy taking notes just for the fun of it (and no, I don't have a folder on everyone - however, I do have a record in my electronic phone book for everyone - does that count?). I'm something of a workaholic and usually put in 50-60+ hours per week at my job even though I only get paid for 40. Normally, that's not a problem because it makes me happy but my job has not been fun lately. The DDA has given me something to keep me busy that I enjoy!!! My family has even noticed the difference in my attitude and outlook.
