Okay, I'm back real quickly to ask, does anyone know of places that donate boxes? We have a lot of stuff to pack up, and if we could bypass having to buy boxes, that'd be great!

P.S. Thanks for all the compliments on Alyssa's pictures. Actually getting her to smile for just a camera isn't all that easy...the girl at JCPenney had to pretend to tickle me a lot (why that cracked Alyssa up, I have no idea!). You can see by the last picture, she was done though...I had hoped to get a few more pics in that second outfit, but I still managed to spend a small fortune!

Have you tried going to your local grocery store? Every time we've moved this is what we've done: go to the produce section and ask for empty banana boxes. We have moved many times, and the banana boxes work well, because they are sturdy and all the same size. And they're free!

Have you read any of the The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency books by Alexander McCall Smith? If so, do you find them very accurate. I know that it takes place in Botswana, but I don't know how similar Botswana is to S.Africa. These were the first books I had ever read that take place in Africa and I found them very interesting and enjoyable to read.

DDA…….I give you…….. Kiwi Jam in the making!!!


Seven cups of sugar

Four cups of mashed /blended kiwi

Mix together

Bring it to a boil and add pectin… boil for ONE minute (I sometimes go 1 ½ minutes, don’t tell the pectin patrol)

Pour into jam jars and let cool for a few hours.

Looks gross, but taste great!!!

Do you ever process it in a boiling water bath? Or does the heat of the jam seal the bottles on it's own? I really want to try this!

I meant to tell all you Croc lovers (I'm one too, btw) about the Crocs I saw yesterday. There was a girl about 8-10 years old standing at the bottom of the escalator. I could tell from the top that she had medium blue Crocs on, but as I got closer I could see different colors on them. I knew it wasn't the tye dye, so as we got to the bottom I was staring at her feet and someone had painted butterflies and flowers on them. They were really pretty! The butterflies were sheer colors and outlined in a solid color. I don't remember much about the flowers because I passed her so fast, but I meant to tell everyone here. I wish I had a picture.

Paula, I bet the kiwi jam tastes great. I love kiwi. Very cool Mickey head pictures too.

It was November of 1987. DH and I were up late getting ready for our one and only cruise and could not turn the TV off. We almost missed our flight.

I remember this vividly too. But my reason is that our younger DD was 15 months old at the time...

I have been wearing my crocs to physical therapy and yesterday FOUR - yes I said 4 people commented on how much they loved them and one of my PTs went to try to buy them last night but couldn't find them!

Then today I wore my Niles and my other PT said to me - you always have such great shoes on!!

They are pretty worried about my knee - I did better today than yesterday and he said today that I have improved since I started - that I basically had no quad then - but that I still have a LONG road ahead of me and then he scared me b/c he asked if the Doctor said anything about surgery to me -
he said it is not common with this condition but sometimes it is the only thing to do

ETA: they are very concerned about the total collapse I had on Sunday

We are also all very concerned about the total collapse. I'll keep you in my prayers. At least they are seeing some improvement, right?

For some reason, I keep getting "Working Mother" magazine in the mail. I'm not a working mother for Pete's sake, I have grown grandchildren. I have no idea why it started popping up in my mailbox. Anyway, there's a recipe in it this month that made me think of Marti.

Marti - this one's for you.

Coconut Dream (don't let the name fool you)

2/3 cup fresh or canned pineapple chunks
1-1/4 cups unsweetened pineapple juice
1/2 cup coconut milk
2 scoops vanilla ice cream

Reserve a few chunks of pineapple for garnish, then puree remaining ingredients. Makes 3 cups.

TIP: One 20-ounce can of pineapple chunks yields enough juice and pineapple for this recipe.

Sounds like a Dole Whip milkshake!

Do you plan on giving us a trip report on this? I've been dying to do this and not sure if I really want to spend the money yet.

So if we give you a trip report -- do we get to write it off as an assignment for AAA????
