Easter Party

Karate today which was a BLAST!

Cute pics of the kids. I like the easter party pictures. Olivia was scared of the easter bunny when we wnet this year. I am starting to think we should wait another year before we go to disney as I dont want her to be scared of the characters.

Those are adorable!!!

How did the boys like karate? Jacob just started this year. He just got his yellow (gold?) belt Monday. He loves it, and his instructor is just the best! It's really helped his self-esteem.

Becky started karate when she was 13. She LOVED Walker, Texas Ranger for a while before that and asked if she could join. The first time I told her no because I thought it was just a phase. After 1-1/2 years, I realized it wasn't a phase so we let her join. She loves it. The sensai is from Vietnam and he is wonderful. All the kids love him. They test for a new belt once a year. She's talked to him about helping her find a new place to go when she leaves for college in 2007.

I'll post it for you. I made them a couple of weeks ago and my kids loved them. They didn't like the taste of the rum extract, so this time I'm just leaving that out.

Strawberry Daiquiri Cake

Cake:
1 package of Supermoist White Cake Mix
3/4 cup water
1 package (0.14 oz) of strawberry Kool-aid mix (powder)
1 tablespoon grated lime peel
3/4 teaspoon rum extract
1 10 oz carton of frozen sliced strawberries, thawed and undrained.
3 eggs

Lime Frosting:
1 tub vanilla frosting (I like the pourable kind best)
2 teaspoons grated lime peel

1. Heat oven to 350. Grease bottom of 13x9 inch pan or line cupcake pan with liners. (will make 24 cupcakes)
2. In large bowl beat all cake ingredients with electic mixer on low for 30 seconds, then beat on medium speed for an additional 2 minutes scraping the bowl occasionally.
3. For cake cook 30-35 minutes. For cupcakes cook 18-25 minutes. Both are done when toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for 15 minutes before icing
4. Mix remaining 2 tablespoons of lime peel into icing and stir. It helps to heat the icing for about 20 seconds in the microwave first, and makes it easier to poor or spoon onto the cake.
5. Top with fresh, sliced strawberries.

Note: I put strawberries on the pieces I serve so the left over ones don't go bad. I also keep leftovers of this cake in the fridge, it keeps a lot better.
These sound really good! I think I'm going to make them too.

Denise,

The pictures are just wonderful.

Yes you can see the boys are having such fun at Karate

Can I just tell the DVC owners here, that I am SO glad you aren't like the majority of posters I see lately on the DVC boards. Sheesh! Talk about a turn-off! :confused3

I think I'll stick to asking you all my questions. (And no, nobody said anything to me personally, so no need to hunt down a particular post or anything :) ... I just can't get over the general tone of those boards!)

Still not sleeping

We love our DVC so feel free to ask right here and don't let them put you off it!!!

Ok, I don't have time to catch up because we're grilling with my family and I'm starting late. But I just had to mention this:

curlywurly.jpg

I found them for only $0.59 (the real thing!)

And Marti wasn't kidding.... they are GOOD, and now Kyle understands why I always trek to the UK Pavilion every time we're at Epcot in hopes of finding them.
:teeth:

Where the heck did you find them for .59 and how many did you buy me?????? I'll send you a check right away, I swear.

So its all your fault huh?? :teeth: I'm starting to feel better already, but I have a question for all of you nurses out there -

should my chest feel like there is an anvil on top of it?? I complained to the doctor and told him I kept massaging my right breast because either my heart of my lung hurt. He checked and said it must be a pulled pec muscle. But now my whole chest feels like a weight is sitting on it. Is this normal??

    • Is the pain between the shoulder blades? Under the breastbone? Does the pain change location? Is it on one side only?
    • How would you describe the pain? (Severe, tearing or ripping, sharp, stabbing, burning, squeezing, constricting, tight, pressure-like, crushing, aching, dull, heavy)
    • Does it come on suddenly? Does the pain occur at the same time each day?
    • Is the pain getting worse? How long does the pain last?
    • Does the pain go from your chest into your shoulder, arm, neck, jaw, or back?
    • Is the pain worse when you are breathing deeply, coughing, eating, bending?
    • Is the pain better after you rest? Is it completely relieved or just less pain?
    • Is the pain better after you drink milk or take antacids? After burping?
    • What other symptoms are present?

Denise - I absolutely love the pictures, but my favorites are the ones at the dojo. I'm impressed with the layout in the pictures, he looks like a serious sensei. Sounds like you found a good place for them. How did Rees like it??

Denise - It's good to hear that you finally got some answers, be them good or bad. It's always reassuring to see an end result in sight. I love the pics too! Karate looked like it was fun cuz you can see it in your children's faces!

Curly Whirly's are officially going on my "What to buy in EPCOT" list for our trip in September...right under pearl shopping in Japan. :lmao:

They don't sell them in Epcot anymore.... according to one CM in United Kingdom (as of January). He said they hadn't had them for at least a month and didn't know if they were going to get them in ever again. I can't imagine that he was correct.... I'm really hoping he was wrong.

They LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it! They had so much fun, and Davis got an extra "high five" award for being the first to say "yes, sir". I think this will be so good for them, and I'm just glad they enjoyed it. Here's some more pictures.

Whoa, I am beat today !!!!

I had a Drs. appt. this morning to go to, so I had to get all of the kids ready that I babysit for so that my neighbor could watch them for me. I rushed around getting dressed, making beds, having my own kids ready for school, and I had to have everything ready by 8:30A.M., I really don't know how you working moms do this on a daily basis. So I went to the Dr. (which by the way told me I have lost 15 lbs. since I was there last month  , I am SO excited, I have been working So hard)!!!!

I then left there and went home to pick up cupcakes to take to Carli's school for her B-day snack. I got to school and asked if I could stay and visit and they said sure and asked if I wanted to help w/ the Easter egg hunt. I stayed and ended up hiding about 500+ eggs in about 15-20 mins. the kids had a blast!!!! I ordered cupcakes from Sam's  for Carli's treat, I just didn't have time to make 44 cupcakes for today. So I ordered them and I 'll tell you what, there were 2 dozen cupcakes for $11.28 I got 4 dozen, they were SO pretty!!! Everyone said that they tasted really good(I didn't try them, I was being good ;) ), I had them tint the icing pink and purple and they put Hello Kitty rings on them-they were SO cute!!! I would definitely get them again!!!

So we took a couple of cupcakes down to Kyle's room for him and his teacher and his aide, his aide asked me if I wanted to take the classroom hamster home over spring break because everybody that usually takes it home is going out of town. What could I do, Kyle & Carli were both begging me to take it , so I did. All I have to say is I hope to God this thing lives for 11 days, because knowing my luck that is what would happen!!! Kyle and Carli are SO excited about it!!!

Anyway I left there and went home to rescue my neighbor, she asked if we could get lunch , so I ran and went to Chipotle for her and got McDonald's for the kids. Got home and Carli was asked to go to the zoo w/ some other neighbors, so I ran around getting stuff ready for her to go there w/ them.

I Hurried and threw down some lunch w/ my neighbor. She left and I had to feed 2 babies, and then put 3 kids down for a nap. The house was trashed So I had to straighten up a little bit. I feel so out of my routine from running around all morning and just out of sorts. It is definitely just easier to stay home with everybody!!! Just one more day of babysitting and I am off for 10 days   !!!

Then I just sat down and

BOOKED MY AIRFARE FOR THE DDA TRIP :Pinkbounc :yay: :Pinkbounc :yay: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :yay: :bounce: !!!!!! I AM SO EXCITED!!!! CAN YOU TELL!!!!!

Well between the weight loss (!), eggs and trip to Disney, it sounds like quite a good day! :goodvibes

Hi, everyone.

I just talked to the GI doctor. We are going to see him on Tuesday at 12:15pm. He is trying to figure out which test to run on Rees to see the status on his reflux and Fundoplication. Rees has severe anxiety and gets very upset at the hospital. All of the tests require Rees to drink something, which wouldn't work with sedation. So, he's looking into which test would be the least stressful for Rees and give him the information he needs. Everyone agrees that most likely the Fundo has failed and needs repairing. What he worried about is the possibility that the Fundo has also herniated into his chest. The surgeon would need to know that information before proceeding.

They have doubled his reflux meds to get us through the weekend, and if he has another bad episode before his appointment, we are to go to the ER. I am hoping we can schedule whatever test he decides to order for next week. Once we get the results we'll schedule surgery. John and I are estimating that surgery would be in the next 2-3 weeks with a 5-7 day hospital stay and then recovery at home. Rees also needs a tendon release on his foot (from the Cerebral Palsy), so we will contact the Orthopaedic surgeon to see if they can do them both at the same time.

Thank you again for all the prayers, calls, and support. It means so much to us all. And Happy Easter and Passover to all of our DDA friends!

We'll continue to pray that the doctors can diagnos and repair any problems in the least stressful way for Rees that is possible. :wizard: for a happy and painfree Easter weekend!

Where did you find them??????

Jungle Jim's. It's a rediculously bizarre store in Cincinnati. But they buy anything you can think of (including all sorts of international stuff) in bulk! :thumbsup2

Jungle Jim's

They even have a monorail (that may or may not work someday  ), animatronic type stuff (like cereal characters, etc).... it's weird. But they have the hard-to-find stuff, plus the best produce in town! :thumbsup2

ETA: I don't know why I didn't think to look there before. I think they have every candy I ever found in World Showcase, plus some! There were about 40 varieties of Cadbury candy in the UK section! :goodvibes

Thanks for answering so quick..... I have constant dull pain inbetween my breast, not any better when I try to breathe deep, not any worse. It is not toward my back (in fact my back doesn't hurt) but toward my front. Over the weekend I was convinced it was my heart - it was racing - but I stopped taking the over the counter medicines and the racing stopped. This is a different pain than that - if this is the right way to say it - it is a larger area of pain, never comes and goes, rest doesn't help, coughing hurts but doesn't make the pain any different and antacids don't relieve the pain.

Let me know doctor - I'm heading downstairs to watch Survivor. I'll be back after that.
