I just went to the post office to pick up a parcel... it was my croc knocks!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Now I can join the payless club :teeth:

I was only half way through the front door by the time I'd ripped the package open and now they're on my feet :rotfl:

They seem to fit fine - might have to do the dryer trick to stretch them a little because of the back strap.... but I love em already

Thanks so much for sending them Kate :cloud9: I'll pm the money straight away :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

DH is gonna have a fit - I went shopping on Sunday with my mum and bought 4 - yes count them 4 pairs of new shoes!!! Now I have 5 new pairs in 3 days and I usually hate buying shoes

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Aren't they wonderful? I live in mine now.

My DH always has a fit when I buy new shoes. He just doesn't understand :confused3 why I need the 70 or so pairs of shoes I have and continue to buy more. You don't wear half of them so get rid of them. He has I think 4 pairs. Oh well!

I have finally discovered the ONE flaw of the DDA - we are just too far apart to help our friends when they need us most.

Denise - we would all fly to Atlanta tomorrow if we knew it would help. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. I wish we all lived closer!

I was thinking the same thing! My mind started flying to questions of how much it would cost to fly to Atlanta if Denise needed us.

Please pray for my Rees. I can't believe this is happening to my baby again. I am absolutely devastated.

Hello. I don't usually post on this thread because I can't seem to keep up to speed, but tonight I was drawn to read the posts. I came across yours and wanted to share this prayer with your family.

"I said a prayer of healing for you - body, mind, and soul.
That God would bring you comfort to restore and make you whole.
I prayed you'd be surrounded by His awesome love and healing.
Dispelling all anxiety or pain you might be feeling.
Finally, I prayed you'd be uplifted by His grace,
And feel yourself enfolded in the peace of His embrace."

I will continue to ask the Lord for HIS strength, wisdom and comfort for your family as you face the upcoming medical tests, and deal with Rees' pain. There is nothing more difficult for a parent!!! :grouphug:

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not be faint." Isaiah 40:1

Shana

That was beautiful, Shana. Welcome to the group. I hope that you will stick around with us.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome! :goodvibes I have to apologize that I have not read through the 1,000+ pages , so I don't know the "history" that you all share. But I do look forward to posting more frequently and getting to know each of you better. You seem like such a caring, generous (and I can't forget TALENTED) bunch!!! ::yes::
Blessings, Shana

And another thread before that! Don't worry about all of the history. There's enough to keep up on just on the current things. Pretty soon you'll feel like you know everyone personally. I know that I do.

My firstborn son is going to be 4 tomorrow. Wow! Where has the time gone?! For his birthday we're just going to do cake and ice cream with the family, but this weekened we're taking him to the park in a neighboring town that has a kiddie train, kiddie roller coaster and a merry-go-round. (This is their website.) We plan on spending the day there. Tonight we took the family out for a pre-birthday dinner at a nice new Mexican restaurant.

This is my boy riding on the train last year (the date's wrong on the photo!)

He is darling! Hope he and the family have a fantastic day on Saturday!

Happy Birthday to him! party: party: party: party:

How fun! Happy birthday to him!!

BTW - I shared your dismates site with some people on another Disney board when they got into a discussion about the lack of single Disney guys. I hope that's okay.

Denise, how did Rees do last night? Everytime our insomniac dog woke me up, I thought of you and hoped that all the Figs were sleeping and comfortable.

If you need anything, I'm just a few hours away. Please don't hesitate to ask!

I just booked a trip. :cool1: I booked 10 nights starting Aug 23rd for 2 rooms at POFQ with FREE dining. We will likely only go for 7 or maybe 8 nights but I figured this would give me a bit wiggle room since I haven't booked airfare yet. It is "costing" me about $600 in lost discounts and purchasing extra passes but that still sounds like a good deal for the meal plan. I'll have the extra passes to use in the future. And thanks to Beth for telling me that they priced the package at value season rates when value season doesn't start until Aug 27th.

I asked DH if he would rather stay home but he says he'll miss the kids too much for a whole week. I can understand that and I want him to have a good time with his children but I also don't want him being grumpy like last time. He said its soooo boring to ride the same rides he's already been on. I'm hoping to find something for him to do on our Magic Kingdom day(s). There is plenty of new stuff in the other parks.

Has anyone been to the Kennedy Space Center? How old would you think would be good there? I think Lizzy would like it but would Joe(5) be too young?

We'll be at POR until August 26th. Maybe our paths will cross one day!

Beth

Ksoehrlein - Glad they arn't the same person! But Bob's a keeper!
SO glad to hear that! (My name's Kim, by the way, and it's nice to "meet" you.)

After I posted, I had all these wierd thoughts that maybe he had changed his name and moved away from his last known location, and that I had somehow found his secret identity -- guess I watch too many bad movies! But then again, if that were true, time travel would have come into play because Bob looks just like my XBF did in the early 1990s.

Haven't read anything this am. Good morning! On our way to school. Rees slept through the night. Said he feels better this am, but the first thing he asked me was to take him to the doctor to make his tummy feel better. I have a call in to the GI doc. I'll let you know when I find out any more details. Thanks again for all the prayers.

DDA, I could use some serious prayers for Rees (and me) please. Here's some background so you'll understand the seriousness of this issue.

When Rees was born, he was our healthiest until day 2 when he crashed. He was so sick, and the doctor's didn't know if he would make it or not. They could not get him off the ventilator, and it was extremely touch and go. He had horrible time feeding, and was diagnosed with severe reflux (GERD). He literally spent weeks at a time in the hospital, with one stay 45 days just before his first b'day. He vomited up to 40 times per day, was in agony, on all types meds, had so many nasty procedures done it breaks my heart, was on feeding tubes... oh, it was just horrible. We would call the GI doctors at 2am with him screaming in agony, refusing to eat at all, arching his back. We'd end up in the ER, get admitted again, go to the PICU. It was a vicious cycle and some very dark days. Finally at age 17 months he had a major surgery called a Nissen Fundoplication. A Fundo is a drastic and last resort surgery for these kids. They literally go in and wrap the child's stomach around their esophagus to physically prevent any acid for regurgitating out of the stomach. It has lots of side effects, and the kids are unable burp or vomit afterwards, so you must be very careful with stomach flu, food poisoning, swallowing pennies (ok, that is funny). It was MAJOR surgery. He was in the hospital for 10 days, has an incision from his breast bone past his belly button (looks like open heart surgery). Up to that surgery Rees was Failure to Thrive and only weighed 15 pounds. The reflux and long hospital stays and pain are a major reason he is developmentally delayed.

Well, 3 weeks ago Rees started refluxing again. He would wake us up at night saying his tummy hurt and point to his chest. He's back on all his meds, but they aren't helping. Tonight, it was absolutely horrible. He was retching, sobbing, screaming!!!!!!!! in pain for over an hour, arching his back, thrashing around in my arms because it hurt so bad. We finally got some meds to stay down. John and I are both panicked and have been sobbing all night. It has brought us back to the worst time in our lives. It was pure h*** and I can't believe it's starting again. So, it looks as if we will be going to the hospital for an emergency Upper GI in the next few days and possibly scheduling him for major surgery to have the Fundo repaired.

Please pray for my Rees. I can't believe this is happening to my baby again. I am absolutely devastated.

Oh, and John looked at me when we finally got Rees to bed tonight and said, "forget going back to school or work. Rees and the kids need you much more than we need money. God has you at home for a reason, and that's where you're staying." Thank goodness I have a fantastic husband who puts the kids above anything else. Needless to say, the whole teaching school thing is on hold for a long while. Rees just is too medically fragile for me to be working full-time and not have the flexibility to be with him.

Oh Denise - i'm in tears just reading this. Sending you :grouphug: and :wizard: for this stressful time. Rees is so lucky to have been born to such loving and caring parents. I hope things get better for you all. Please let us know if there's anything we can do.

:grouphug:

ETA: I'm glad he got some rest last night - let us know how things go today :wizard:

:bday: My youngest turns 2 on the 13th. She loves choo choos. The park looks like a lot of fun. We are going to Strausburg Railway, in PA, in June as Thomas will be there. Molly sleeps with her Thomas Choo Choo among 10 other things every night. Enjoy the weekend!

My youngest loves choo choos as well! He is 1 1/2. Have you ever been to the Strausburg Railway? We love it there! We have never been there when Thomas was there though, but I know Jay would love it!!! We usually have lunch or dinner on the train - it is a very relaxing and peaceful ride! Watch out for that gift shop - your daughter will find another 10 things to sleep with! :rotfl: We have also gone to the "Amaizing Maize" while we were there - and boy, is that a lot harder than it looks!!! They also have a wonderful farm-oriented play/hands-on area for kids! Hope you have a wonderful time!!!

When I joined the thread in December, I also had a lot of history that I never had time to catch up on. They welcomed me with open arms. They are a caring, generous bunch and I'm happy to be a part of them now. Jump right in!!!! The water's fine!!!
You mean you've not been here since the beginning?? Wow! Isn't it strange how new people come along in dribs and drabs yet after a while it seems like everyone was here on day one... even though I wasn't either :rotfl:

Gotta love the DDA :grouphug:

Denise,
So glad to hear that Rees had a better night. Hope you were able to get some rest too! We will be praying that the Lord will give the doctor's the wisdom they need to make Rees feel better as quickly and as painlessly as possible! I hope your kids have a wonderful time at their Easter party!
Hugs, Shana
