The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 4

Thanks for all the good wishes on DH's new job....it is only temporary but it pays better than anything else and is a M-F job.....so for the first time in a bunch of years he will have a set schedule AND have the weekends off.

That is what I need a job that pays better, with a set schedule and the weekends off. I can dream right.

We had one of those near us when I was little. It was the kind that you pull up, park, and order from your car. Then they would bring your order out on a tray and attach it to your car window. Ah, the good ole days.....

Yep, that's the type ours is. It is really neat to enjoy because it reminds me of going with my family when I was little (6 or 7). That was the only "fast food" restaurant of the day. I loved their mama burgers. I felt so important that I was buying a mama burger instead of a baby burger or teen burger. They don't have those names anymore.

So I came home from getting Ellie at school and found a bag that said, “Open me Paula”.

Inside was a bottle of Parrot Bay (cool looking bottle) and a small bouquet of flowers with a note.

Okay - today might actually be a tie!!

Well I think we have a winner here. You combine the two together. Dole whip float= pineapple juice + pineapple ice cream and Patriot drink is Parrot Bay and pineapple juice. In my mind it is one and the same. Parrot Bay + Pineapple Sherbert + Pineapple juice = one yoummy drink. Or is it just me who thinks we should Parrot Bay to the Dole Whip float.

My son told me I can't take the baby to Disney until he can spell it. We're going next May. Everytime I see him, I say... :say hi to gramma; okay d i s n e y; say it with me... d i s n e y. All the time I'm holding him. I bet Disney will be his first word...

I managed to get my oldest grandson to say Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, still working on Disney. What a sweetheart then he goes and gives me the flu he had
Went home feeling really sick on Tuesday and was laying on the recliner with a hot water bottle on my belly. DH askes me if I am hungry for supper and I said no. Bless his heart, I love that he can cook but this was the one time he made steak sandwiches with onions. The smell made it worse
Feeling much better now.

We have the BEST ice cream place in the world -

it is called The Cone and is less than a mile from our house

Not only is the building cool - it is the BEST ice cream

it opened yesterday and I guarentee they have a 20 minute line tonight - and all they serve is ice cream -

they run 3 lines at a time and I have never seen any of the lines less than 10 people deep!!!

We have a cone as well. They also have ice cream year round inside a big barn building owned by the same place as well. It is very yummy. It gets quite busy so they have both options. Inside the barn they also have soups and sandwiches.

DDA TRIP REPORT

Thursday, May 18

5:00 pm The last thing I remember clearly was arriving at the airport. I was a few minutes early and knew that I needed to get a lot of drinks in – so I decided to have a quick drink at the airport bar. I brought a list of everyone in the DDA so that I could have a drink for them: I started at the top: Tammi67 (She’s going…I don’t need to drink for her!!) Next: julia & nicks mom (that’s me) Next: Tink2020 – you get the first toast in the airport bar…next up is Glynis – I better stop…it is time to board…WDW here I come!!!

5:45 pm Once onboard, I check my list - Steamboat Marti (she is already drinking in WDW) Next is babytrees, rosiejo & UP Disney – I better quit – the flight attendants are looking at me funny and I still have to get a rental car…

9:00 pm I head to Downtown Disney to meet the girls…I better toast a few more…itdjbw, Cinderumbrella, tmfranlk –

9:25 OH there’s someone with the same shirt on as me…Just in time for a toast to KMH1, triplefigs, and Steffy…

11:00 we head to our room – and as we reach the Pop – I can’t get the song BOP BOP BOP BOP TO THE TOP… out of my head…I wonder if I am annoying the others…oh not at all - Tammi is ready to dance We’re all in this together with me…

11:15 We decide that going to the pool might be the best place to showcase our talents…and of course toast a few more of our fellow DDA’s - tinknme, my3princes and our final toast of the evening to the birthday girl: bethbuchall (let’s have two for her!!)

Friday, May 19
8:00 am We need to get to MGM before all those Star Wars Freaks – oops I mean fans…lets toast our trip with some mimosa’s first!!! lmartin2711 & marcij and we are off!

9:00 am We go straight to ToT and RnR – we start on RnR – Marti goes on a Margarita run to the Backlot Express while we ride ToT – she got two for each of us – so we can toast bear74 & Eeyorecln – next up to toast - KristineN – but she is with us so we can take a break. Into WWTBAM – Damn – they are all Star Wars Questions – we leave and duck in the commissary to toast tinker1bell & MinnieMouseMom –

Hey look – there’s R2D2 – what do you mean I can’t walk in the street – the parade isn’t until this afternoon – oh there’s an 11:00 Star Wars parade – oops

Then we ran into an ewok -

– they are not a friendly species

11:30 Time to hit Prime Time café – we should really behave since Matthew and Paul are eating with us – but a couple of toasts should be okay: ReAnSt & PNO4TE – why does my waitress keep yelling at us? This is certainly not Disney Magic

12:30: look Darth Vader – light saber fight – oh – that’s not Darth Vader – oops –

suggests we head to our hotel for an afternoon break Forget that – we are staying at a value resort – hey Kristine is staying at the Poly in December – I think that gives us pool rights there!!

Time for a few mai tais as we toast: dumby; kc10family and Tinkaroo

2:30 we enter the Magic Kingdom –they don’t serve alcohol here – so we can sober up a bit – Philharmagic is really cool after a few drinks – but the carousel made me a little quesy – let’s try space mountain!!!! When was the last time we ate? Let’s get a Dole Whip

5:30 – That wasn’t enough - maybe we should go grab dinner – let’s go drink and eat our way around Epcot: bengalbelle; Brendita; Princess Nancy; lovesdumbo; mgkkgdm (oops – he is here – let’s toast him anyway!!); weluvdisney; Blueeyes101817; ellenbenny; disneyeveryyear; karebear1; MidNite

10:00 pm How did we end up at Beaches and Cream?!?!? They don’t even serve alcohol here – oh – but they have ice cream – nevermind

11:00 pm – we make it to our room – Bop Bop Bop Bop to Pop – I brought a hand blender – are those illegal – we mix a few margaritas and toast PrincessLeighsDaddy; lovespoohbear & chaoscent

Saturday, May 20 – my head hurts –

7:15 – we have to be at Epcot in an hour for our Segway tour – but my head still really hurts – let’s have a few Bloody Mary’s to cure our hangover…mommykds &
ksoehrlein – maybe a couple more - legalslave; macntosh & monicatb

8:30 am – we start our Segway Tour – why can’t I stay on this darn thing – why won’t it go straight –

look we made it to the World Showcase - there’s Mexico – there’s china; italy; America; France; Canada – back to Future World – we did it!!! Let’s celebrate with a toast to: WeLoveTheMouse

11:00 am – we ride Soarin’ - and I can’t stop singing “We’re Soaring, flying, there’s not a star in heaven that we can’t reach…”

11:30 am – a toast to eeyore45 and into Turtle Talk with Crush we go: we ask Crush –what is the best way to get a turtle out of his shell? His answer: “all you gotta do is rub his shell a little!!”

12:00 Time for lunch – let’s eat and drink our way around the World again: yellowfish78; Moonbeams; disney newbie; krdisneybound; poohangel; Shriva (what the heck) - Baloo – let’s have two for her – she puts up with a lot from us!!! ladylucca, Disneygrl36, kadaten

We really enjoyed the Food and Wine Festival – oh it was the Flower and Garden Festival – hmmm… I wonder if that is why the characters weren’t so friendly?!?!

6:00 pm Back to the MK – time for a Mickey Bar and a Dole Whip and what they heck – let’s have two of each – The lights in Spectromagic are really pretty – why are there so many kids at Walt Disney World – all their whining is really annoying; and what is with all the damn strollers – if your kid can’t walk around Disney world – they just aren’t old enough to appreciate it


11:00 – We arrive at Jellyrolls – we have a lot of toasting to do:

Sunday, May 21 –

5:30 am We wake up early – what the hell is the manager’s problem – we own DVC – we have the right to be here – what happened to welcome home – can’t I sleep on my own couch?!?!

now I remember – Bop Bop Bop Bop to the Pop – we better check out – can you believe it – we did not get a towel animal the whole time – no tip for mousekeeping!!!

9:00 – we are at AK to ride EE – that was so much fun!! Then we go see Festival of the Lion King and head to WL for lunch

12:30 – what do you mean you won’t put Bailey’s in my bottomless milkshake?!? That’s okay – I brought my own – now we toast - wannabecruiser; MickeyMamma; miss missy (again – what they heck) Cinderella Fan & Mom323 (wow that was a lot of drinking!!)

Amy-thanks so much for the character list. I wasn't expecting it so soon and so complete. It's wonderful!!!!

Kate-loved your trip report but you left out the part where I take pictures, sell them for lots of money and live happily ever after at Disney.

That sounds like my almost 2yr old. She will cover my mouth and say "Noooooo!" I can't even sing things like Itsy Bitsy Spider. My eldest however had me singing lullaby's until she was 5.

That is my 2 two girls. My oldest fell in love with Jonny Mathis (chances are) at 6 months-we were at the dump(oh...transfer station) and I had the Mary Poppins CD on but the dump had Jonny on the radio and she just started cooing....I bought her the CD and she fell asleep to Jonny every night for years. My youngest would only listen to Small World for the first 2 years of her life and would never let me sing to her. Then she used to have me sing Happy Birthday to her and every other family member and friend at night. Now she doesn't want me singing anymore.
