Thanks for letting me vent. Now hopefully someone is here to keep me company and keep me from sitting here fuming. Am I totally wrong in this? It wouldn't be a first time I suppose. But it's got me reeling... going back and forth between being furious and wanting to cry. I just feel like I shouldn't have been put in the position to change everyone's plans in the first place. :guilty:

:grouphug: :grouphug: I hope the morning finds everyone doing better.

I find this shirt hilarious. And while most of the shirts I'm making for WDW and DCL next week are child-like (Belle outline with castle for MK day, Mary Poppins' Cakes and Teas for tea at the Grand Floridian, DCL with Scuba Minnie & Mickey for boarding day, Shego for MGM day, etc), I kind of want one shirt that's Disney but playful in a more grown up way. Do you think anyone would find this offensive? Or is it just fun?

Thanks!

Jennifer

I think this this shirt is SO fun!!! I definitely don't think that anyone would find it offensive IMO!!! I would wear it!!!

OK I'm off to teach Sunday School!!! I am having a really hard time motivating myself these last few week, thank goodness we only have 3 weeks left. I know I won't be doing this next year since I have started dreading it on a weekly basis and I don't want to feel like that. It wouldn't be so bad except that I have the 3 year old group (7 boys and 1 girl :scared1: )and it is so hard to really teach religion to 3 year olds. I feel like I am babysitting for 1hr 30 min, which doesn't sound like a long time but we are in a classroom w/ no toys or anything!!! This week I am totally winging it and bringing a video, that should hold them for about 15mins. OK thanks for letting me vent or stall whatever I am doing right now, when I should be getting ready   !!! I'll check back later!!!!

Julie :wave2:

Jen,
Hope you are feeling better this morning, MIL's can drive you crazy!!!
I am already dreading mine coming and it's 3 months away and I am going to have to put up with her living here for 3 months!!!!! Anyone care to trade???

Now if it was a Disney movie it would hold there attention for more than 15 minutes!!! :lmao: :lmao:

Good Morning All,

I just get home from work. So before I am off to bed, I decided to check in here. Since I have the rest of the day off.

Sending hugs and pixie dust to all of you. :wizard: :grouphug: I'm reading through now and I know everyone can use the hugs and pixie dust.

I've been around but haven't been responding. It's easier to stay up to date that way. Well at least for me.

Gotta love this crappy rainy, cold weather will not decide if it really wants to be spring or not. I want :sunny: and more :sunny: and :flower:.

Hello all - I'm back from a horrible week. But things are looking up! I returned home from the funeral to a box on my front porch. I got my box of Curley Wurley's from Clare!! I was so excited - I promptly ate two of them. They are just as good as I remember. I was hoping they stunk so I wouldn't want to eat all of them. :teeth: Who am I kidding? Cadbury chocolate over caramel, what's not to like? I'll post a picture this afternoon... we're heading out. Beautiful sunny day and I don't want to miss any more of the sun. Thanks Clare - I just love them. But I owe you more than you said - PM me the correct total and I'll paypal it immediately. Thanks so much.

I just can't imagine your heart break. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can be more helpful to this family in the coming weeks??

I can't imagine their heartbreak totally because I was older (but still too young) when I lost my dad unexpectedly. However, it was heartbreaking for us even then. My suggestion is to offer to drive & pickup the kids for their activities (if your time allows), prepared meals that can be frozen if not needed right away, and an ear if she needs it. If you knew him, happy stories about him. There was nothing better than to know that others would remember my father with happy thoughts. My dad's death really showed me how helpful sympathy cards with personal notes truly are for those left behind.

Isn't it amazing how wonderful things sometimes happen at a crucial time??!! WTG Clare! The DDA magic strikes again!

For those of you watching for good airfare:

My DH was watching Good Morning America or one of those morning programs and he learned of 2 website where you can watch the prices of airfare. I have no personal experience from either, but he said that they spoke highly of these on TV. So it might be worth trying out. Good luck.

Marti...I hope this week is better for you. This family needs time to heal...and a lot of time I'm afraid.

Jen...In laws are a strange breed that's for sure!!!

:cool1: Hi all! I had fallen behind here caring for my sick baby. She's had a fever off and on and a bit croupy and just miserable. And Mom's getting very little sleep. How can a 3 year old take up so much room. She was pushing me out of my bed again this morning so I thought I'd just get up and get caught up here.

Tammi-Hope you're feeling better. Have you thought about taking the strap off the Crocs? I had read on the big Croc thread that some kids put different color straps on their Crocs so I was thinking if you didn't like the look of the Niles with the staps up maybe you could just remove them???

Steffy-hope you're on the mend! Enjoy all the planning!

..

So glad your DD is doing better. Hope you can soon get some sleep! With no feet in your back!!

I saw on the Croc website that they have seperate replacement straps.....

Thanks for the well wishes. My ankle is still killing me. I don't understand. I wasn't on it a total of 10 minutes yesterday. And that's if I count all of the 30 seconds it took me to get to the potty... with it in the brace. I even soaked it in warm water and then plunged it into a pail of water with ice cubes!! It just won't calm down..

I'm getting ready to call tinker1bell and find out about her DS....

Happy Sunday DDA!

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: What a sweet thing for Claire to do!!

You so deserve it as you have sent me not one but two huge boxes of Christmas stuff!!

As far as your friend, it will take time. My DD's father-in-law's wife dropped dead in front of him and her 3 kids a few Decembers ago. She was only 37. It has taken years to get him to the point where he will even celebrate Christmas. At least he comes over for dinner. Still won't go shopping or decorate a tree or anything like that. The best thing that we could do for him was to let him grieve.

My Dsil spent many a day just sitting with him allowing him to remember and relive the good days. Sometimes just a shoulder when he needed one. And meals were good too. Needless to say, he didn't feel much like cooking.... I truly belief your presence is the absolute best present you can give right now......  :grouphug: :grouphug: for strength... :grouphug:

It sounds like you did the right thing. It is very difficult for men dealing with their mother & wife. This seems to be the standard. From what I've read (I'm an avid reader to learn all that I can when I have an issue), new couples tend to gravitate to the wifes family. The mans mother has a hard time adjusting to a woman in her son's life because she feels she is losing her son. That puts the man in a very difficult position - loyalty to the woman who raised them and the woman they love & want to spend their life with. With the wifes family, it is like adding a son. In my case, our holidays are celebrated the way my family did, cleaning is done the way it was at my house, the kids were raised like I was raised, etc. I can see where that would make my MIL feel she was being pushed out.

When I first married my DH, my MIL and I had major problems. I would get stressed days before going to their house. I knew that she would be critical of everything. For example, when I graduated from college (had DD5, DD2 and was 29+), my MIL congratulated me and then said "Now you can start taking care of Chuck and the girls". I was mad for years especially since I was the one that had wanted to move closer to them so they'd have a relationship with our family.

When I finally relaxed and stopped trying to compete with her (I had won already because her son loved me), we started to get along. It also helped my husband relax. He knew that if I raised an issue that it was very important to me (so he was supportive) because I let the little stuff go. My MIL and I are very close now. It helps that she thinks that my kids are wonderful kids (her other grandkids are selfish & spoiled). She now tells Chuck to take care of me and she looks out for my well-being. They live an hour and a half away so are close enough so that we can visit regularly but they can't just stop in.

It sounds like your DH realized what he had done. Awareness of the issue is the first step to improving it. To make a long story short, it can get better! I can't imagine life without my MIL now.

I'm not planning on telling my MIL about either May trip. I'm sure DH will but I won't. I'm telling the kids my first trip (adult only) is a business trip-don't know what DH will tell his mom. My MIL thinks I'm crazy to risk the children's lives to fly to FL for such a frivolous (sp?) thing as Disney when we go as a family. Funny she doesn't say anything about DH's niece who flies with her baby without a carseat????

I'm getting very excited for my trips too. Both very different and both very exciting.
