I am getting so excited about our Dec. trip :dance3:

I just made ADR's for breakfast at Trails End Buffet followed with Horseback riding. I was hoping to get an early slot for the horseback riding followed with breakfast, but it was booked. I think we will be ok beings it is a guided tour & goes at a slow pace. None of us ride horses, so slow is fine with me lol

I also special ordered a cake for us to have after dinner on Christmas, it is a surprise :santa: I ordered a white cake with white chocolate frosting & chocolate mousse filling, yum!

That sounds so exciting! I'm sure you will have a great trip!

Ok I am weird, but the email I received from Disney Shopping has blankets with both Garrett & Riley's name on them. Are they personalizing email ad's now :rotfl:

That's a bit freaky! I don't consider those really common names, either.

We met a family that has a Matthew that is a year older than my Matthew and a Laura that is the same age as my Laura. They don't have a Miles, though. ;)

Janet,

I saw that too this morning & was going to post but you beat me to it! How cool! Now you have to buy them for the boys!:)

I just ran out to do some Christmas shopping for Daniel. He wrote this beautiful letter to Santa. He is so sweet that I wish I could buy him everything!
I got him Battleground: Crossbows & Catapults - War Chest Starter Set,
Verticon Super Sound Battle Set, & Jam Pack Jam from Cranium. This was on his list & a Wii...Santas got the Wii covered so these will come from Dana & I. They all got good online reviews, & I had a buy $75 get a $10 giftcard. So Daniel is done.....

As for Katie, last weekend I went to Abercrombie & bought a few tops & pants & a large tote for her to use for school books. Just a few things from bath & body (she loves the new peppermint fragrance)& she will be done.

Sophie I am still having a hard time with. I did get her some dress up costumes but she is asking for some stuff I won't buy. She wanted this streak & style thing that colors your hair (um no...) & a Bratz makeup doll (um no, we have enough Bratz dolls thankuverymuch!) So I am still on the lookout for her.

Have a great day.

Santa is bringing a Wii, extra remotes, and a few games here, too. Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas for the "mom and dad" gifts. I don't want to spend too much more money. It seems like the gift costs go up exponentially with age!

Hey DDA! I just saw my birthday thread(s) and thought I should stop by and say hello!

I do keep meaning to stop by but I've been so busy that I never seem to get a chance to - plus y'all are such chatterboxes I can't keep up :teeth:

Things are quiet here at the moment - we just got back from a 10 day trip "home" we stayed at Old Key West, Vero Beach and Saratoga Springs and had a lovely relaxing time - then I came home and got sick  just a virus in my respiratory system - but it meant blocked sinuses and sore throat and cough and generally feeling yucky. But I'm on the mend today :)

I haven't been back to work yet - but when I do I'll be wrapping up my current job and moving to a new one :yay: same bank - same office - but looking after mortgages instead of websites so a complete change which is what I need.

Erm not sure what else has been happening... anyone here want to give me a quick update on the gossip??

:)

 Hi, Clare! I'm so glad that you stopped in!

ETA: This is post 5432 for me! My odometer read 12345 the other day, and I thought of the DDA!

Rees is having a g-tube (feeding tube inserted sugically on Friday). We were admitted from the ER Friday and will be here until Sunday. Here is the update from my care page. I'm posting on the thread on the CB too. It's been a rough time to say the least.

Hi, everyone. Today I'm better emotionally. I think the dam burst literally Sunday night and yesterday, and it feels much better to have let it all out. Rees tried smashed banana last night, and it immediately came back up. The only foods he can get down are ice cream, popsicles, pudding, and jello. We are going to try chicken broth at lunch. They are starting him on IV total nutrition in a little bit so he'll be ready for surgery and not lose weight.

I pulled Rees in the wagon yesterday for a long walk around the little garden they have here. It was beautiful outside today, and it felt great to have some fresh air. I gave him a long shower, and then I snuggled with him in bed last night. It felt good just to love up on him. I think now that I know I was right that something is wrong (they tried to send us home Friday night from the ER and said he was ok) has really made a difference. Now we know what to expect. We have a plan, and it makes it easier to deal with. And the surgeon was soooo upset to see how sick Rees is and how thin he has gotten so quickly. It helped to know how much he cares for my son too. And my mom arrives today for 2 days. I can't wait to see her. And John's parents will be here Thursday. But the best news is that John and Brantley-Kate are feeling better, and he is coming up this afternoon to visit! Boy, do Rees and I miss him, Brantley-Kate, and Davis tons.

Rees woke up hungry late last night and had a popsicle and ice cream. He watched Sleeping Beauty and sang the entire time. He finally went to sleep around 1am and woke up this morning at 11am. I've been doing some shopping for Christmas since I'm not going home for a while. thank goodness for the Internet!

 Denise, I have been thinking about you and praying about you a lot. I am glad that things are starting to look up for Rees, you, and the rest of the family. Today I saw an Alabama Roll Tide license plate holder on the car in front of me (not particularly common in this area), and thought of you.

One of my attorneys just sent me this link (there's also a further link inside this one to an article on MiceAge).

http://www.boingboing.net/2007/11/13/cremation-ashes-at-d.html

That's nasty. I know there are TONS of people who do this, but I don't want to THINK about them doing it.:scared: I can't imagine that cremated remains are biohazardous, but maybe they are! I DEFINITELY don't want to think about that!

We have one Walgreens in the area, but it isn't very convenient. It just opened this summer. The Buffalo area hasn't had Walgreens long either, but a little longer than here. I had never been in one until we went to one near Disney in August, 2006. I think we have only one Starbucks, too (plus the one in Barnes and Noble).

I can think of 2 Walgreens around here, but I never go to either one. CVS is far more prevalent. We use the pharmacy at Sam's. Now Starbucks is a whole other story. There are more of those than you can shake a stick at.

Happy Birthday, Clare!

Denise - More good thoughts and hugs coming your way!!:wizard:

I asked DS this morning what he wants for Christmas and he couldn't think of ANYTHING. I asked him if he wants the iCoaster and he said yes, so there's one thing. He might enjoy another big set of Star Wars Legos. After I said he doesn't play with them he decided he likes them. I think DH wants to buy a Wii.

So I survived another week of swimming. My friend told me they are closed Thanksgiving week, but SURPRISE! They are OPEN!:headache: I think we may skip swimming next week. The official policy is NO make up classes, but her teacher said we can make it up. Maybe GRANDPA would like to take her since he was the one who signed her up!:rotfl2: He'll be here next week.

I can't think of anything that my kids want for Christmas either. I need to tell them to write out their Christmas lists. Miles seems to take a sudden interest in his toys right before Christmas. It seems like he doesn't play with things for a long time and then all of a sudden, he's playing with them. I did tell Matthew last night when I was buying him a new winter jacket that it should count towards Christmas. He thinks lost the one that we bought last year. We can't find it anywhere in the house, so now he thinks maybe he left it somewhere last year! :headache: The boy is 16 years old! I think he could be a little more responsible about things like that. Though overall he is a responsible kid. Fortunately, they were only about $40 jackets, not $100+, but still...

I am glad that you survived swimming this week. Is the session just about over? If Grandpa takes her next week, is he liable to sign her up for another session?! :scared1:

DS lost a jacket last year. A nice Gap jacket. The problem was that by the time we realized it was missing we couldn't pinpoint when we saw it last. I think he probably lost it at school and we didn't know to look for it! His name was in it but for some reason nobody ever goes through the lost & found and attempts to give lost articles BACK to their owners. But I have thing about buying jackets. He has about 10 in his closet right now.:rolleyes1 Of course it is still 80 degrees so he doesn't need a jacket.

This session will NEVER be over.:sad2: It goes until the middle of January. And I HATE it! Every week I dread going and I hate the whole 30 minutes of each lesson. I don't know if Grandpa will sign her up again. She is making progress, but it is very slow progress. She won't be able to move up to the class where I am not in the water for a LONG time. But let's also keep in mind that she is only 22 months old, so I don't expect her to swim proficiently! I think she is kind of neutral on the lessons - she can take them or leave them. The reason Grandpa signed her up is because some other little girl from play group goes there and swims like a fish. Well, Princess is not a fish. Or a mermaid. Which is a shame because Ariel seems to be her favorite these days.;) :rotfl: I am sure if she was older she would be picking up on it much faster.

If Santa is bringing the Wii and Dana and You are buying games will the kids be suspicious? I think my kids would wonder how I knew what Santa was bringing as it is always a surprise to us all.
Hi Deb!

Santas bringing the Wii & the Wii games. Dana & I are getting toys/clothes. The stuff I listed was toys for Daniel. I was looking for that puzzle game you mentioned a while ago, but I couldn't find it.

ain't that the truth!!

Last night we were in Costco and they had wonderful robes so I picked them up for the girls. I have a robe, fuzzy socks and a pillowcase that will be one gift.

For Abi I am refurbing a jewelry box and filling it and she will get her ears pierced and probably a CD stereo I found.

For Cassidy I am making a pillow out of really cool sweatshirt material I found and we will be getting her a directors chair for her "movie" room. She also is getting the necklace from the auction.

Kids are done...I just have to figure out what to get the nephews...one I hate (no really I do hate him...he's a spoiled rotten brat....Jim said I was being kind yesterday)....he's 12 today and then a 4 year old and 1 and 1/2 year old....they aren't as bad but they are spoiled and quickly moving toward rotten. We have 3 nieces I have never met but girls are easier. We used Polly Pocket coupons and got the 2 older some PP and will probably get some more....gotta love the $5 off coupons!! The younger one I will send some Baby Einstein books I was given.

Can I get some suggestions please?? We did family movie baskets last year...I spent more than I wanted on them...it's a trim year.

That's what happened with Matthew's jacket, too. He didn't think anything of it until this weekend when we were trying to find it. Since it isn't anywhere that I would have put it in the house, he's guessing that he left it somewhere at the end of last season. Old Navy had wool jackets at 40% off, so we were able to buy one for around $37. It's probably not super warm, but he doesn't really need it for being outside for long periods of time.

I'm sorry that you hate swim lessons so much. I had a good time with them when my kids were little, but I can't imagine having to do them now :scared1: . Miles could swim quite early, but the older two really didn't pick up on it until they were older. It all depends on the child. I hope that they don't do another session, since Princess doesn't love the classes. Maybe they can wait until she is old enough to go in the water without you.

Hello All

Today must have been package day :cool1:

Lindsay sent me the most amazing Christmas Ornament. :cool1: My favorite color is blue and my family loves everything fab five. She managed to find an ornament with the fab five in front of Cinderella's Castle with blue accents and ribbon. It is absolutely perfect:cool1: Thank you so much Lindsay. I promise post a picture soon. I just need to clean this living room and locate my camera. This new TV has caused havoc.

I also received my DisneyShopping order. The luggage is beautiful. I can't wait to use it. I had also ordered some kitchen towels which were much thinner than I thought, but they have Mickey heads on them so at least they are cute. I bought the kids a few pins for Christmas. Those will be keepers to add to their collections. The pin bag is beautiful. It was much bigger than I expected, but very nice. I'm sure the boys will love to carry it.

The bumper mount bike rack that my Mom is giving Chris for Christmas came too. Boy is that heavy. Now we will be able to easily transport our bikes to Fort Wilderness without having to put them all inside the camper. The rack only hold 4 bikes, but Colby's is still small :)

The most important thing for a child her age to learn is what to do in the event that she fell in. They should be working on floating and getting back to the side safely. In addition they will work on getting her used to water in her face, blowing bubbles, holding breath etc. Believe it or not it is a good experience for you too. You are becoming more comfortable with the water whether you believe it or not.;)

Hi Deb!

Toys r us online has the Katamino game as does amazon. All 3 of our kids love playing it and so do we. I thought that Colby would have trouble with it beings as he is only 4, but he is a whiz at it and I can see younger kids enjoying it too. There are no small pieces to worry about.

I do really luck out on the nieces/nephews. Dh's sister doesn't celebrate Christmas and has never wanted to exchange gifts. Several years ago, my brother and I made a deal not to shop for each other's families. In some ways that seems kind of cold, I guess, but it does make Christmas shopping easier and more financially manageable. His kids (and mine) certainly get plenty of gifts from Santa, mom and dad, and the grandparents. We don't always buy for my in-laws either, though we do give them baked goods and a fruit basket.

By the time I bought all the extra remotes and games for the Wii, I spent almost $400. So I do want a little something individual for each under the tree, but it can't be too much more money. I think dh and I are going out to look for a new table/chairs on Friday. That will be our gift to each other. He may also decide on a new tv...we'll see.

I don't hate swimming, I hate that indoor pool. Right now they have it heated so warm it makes me woozy. And it grosses me out. ALL indoor pools gross me out. I would be MORE than happy to go to outdoor lessons every single day, all summer long, if it would save me from the indoor pool. And if we had an instructor coming HERE to teach her in her own pool I would be in heaven!

There are studies that show if a child falls into a pool they are still very likely to drown even if they ARE proficient swimmers because it will catch them of guard. Especially if they fall in fully clothed. But Momboss said they knew someone growing up whose child drowned in the pool so Grandpa is adamant about Princess learning to swim. She refuses to kick, refuses to blow bubbles, refuses to close her mouth underwater. She can hang on to the wall just fine, but she isn't strong enough to pull herself out of the pool. I guess we'll see what happens when the session ends. If Grandpa signs her up again I guess I'll deal with it. But I would prefer not.;)

Hi, everyone! I'm just popping in to let you all know I'm about 30 pages back. Sorry I dropped off the face of the earth. We had company all weekend, and then I got really ill on Sunday. Still trying to come back from it! I'll hopefully catch up quickly. If there's anything important I need to know, please PM me!
