And they would have eaten it on Sunday too, but it's corporate policy to be closed on Sundays! It was so depressing to be in the mall food court with a dark Chick-fil-a! :rotfl:

Vicki and Marti, I'll send you my cookie recipe during Alyssa's naptime later!

Amy :)

And isn't it funny that driving around on Sundays and seeing it dark is when I feel like it!!!

Tia - It looks like the party was a huge success! I liked your cakes, and believe me, it's better than anything I could ever have done.

By the way, you need to change Terra's age in your siggy. Isn't it sad how fast time flies? My twins will be 4 on March 21. They originally wanted a Dumbo/Dora party, but I found a copy of Walt Disney Party Themes, and now they are gung ho about a Winnie the Pooh party. It actually looks pretty easy, and fun, so we'll see how it goes.

Thanks, Glynis. My sisters did redeem themselves by telling me that they only gave me a hard time because it was so much better than they could ever do. Kristi (Kassie's mom) told me we'd have to come back to celebrate together again if Kassie was ever going to have anything but a Sam's cake.

I was just thinking too that I needed to update my siggie. I can't believe that my baby is 3!

Those little mini chicken bites wrapped in a little roll brushed with honey - man oh man they were good!!!!!

I guess I will be stopping there on my way to work in the morning, those sound good, not that I need another addiction at the moment.

Ok, you're not going to believe this!~ Keep your fingers crossed! HGTV's show Cash in the Attic will be filming here in Atlanta the first 2 weeks of March. The show's producer just called me and we've made it to the final round. He will call back within the next couple of days to let me know if we've been chosen to be on the show. I said we wanted to redo our basement for the kids and get some adaptive equipment to help Rees out. PD please!!!!

Denise, that will be great PD for you pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Jo-----I love the tatoo. It is true, once you get one, you want another.

Denise----Way too cool about the taping. Let us know when the show will air.

1972--I was 22 with one child, DH was in the Navy and we were stationed in Hawaii, and I was selling Tupperware.

What started out as helping out Steffy at work by answering the phone for a week has now ended up working part time still answering the phone, helping out at the front desk, taking payments, trying to answer questions about all of the approximately 66 programs the Rec Center has going on every year and entering attendence for the school age before and after care and during the summer all of the camps and then billing.

The pictures look great. I think the cake came out well too. I try not to create cakes as I lack in the decorating department. I'm sure the kids loved it.

Deb

Thanks, Deb! I was pretty happy with how it turned out. I had been planning to make the Big Top a 3D design, but decided that alone would take a double batch of cake batter and we didn't really need the equivalent of 3 cakes for just 16 of us. :)

As for 1972, that was about 10 years before I was born.

Back to watching Rent.

Becky

Which means you were born sometime during my senior year in high school or freshman year at college depending on your birthdate. Now I feel old!

Well, Happy Special Birthday then!! (Actually, I just hadn't gotten to posting it yet and was guessing this, but wasn't sure.) I SO want to adopt sometime in the future and plan to do something similar. How did your family celebrate when you were growing up since they were so close together? Did you have a party for one and then do a family thing for the other? I know, I'm being nosey, but I just think that it is such a wonderful idea and I love hearing of families that celebrate that special day.

I always had my birthday party near to my January birth day, since that is the legal date. Most everybody said happy birthday then. On our special birthday my parents always woke me up singing: This is the day you came to us, came to us, came to us; This is the day you came to us to be our little girl. We got to pick out a special dinner (even if my brothers thought it was yucky) and then a special cake. It was a special time for our family and I have some very fond memories of it growing up.

The latest trend in adoption birthdays is to have a "gotcha" day. I don't like this term, and I really don't know why. My guess is that I think it refers to a material thing, not a person. But that's just one persons opinion.

Good luck if you adopt - international or domestic???

DENISE,

How exciting!!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait to see you on TV!!!

UGH.... I feel a migraine coming on. You think this one is stress related after this morning?

Once I take my medicine I'm down for the count..... so I probably won't be back on tonight.

Goodnight DDAs!

I'm not sure. Possibly both. It will depend on how many we decide to adopt which will depend on financial situations in the future. It's still a few years away, but something I really want to do if we can. I have considered domestic (slightly older, possibly siblings), China and Russia. That is without having done a lot of research so who knows how things will end up when it comes time to actually do it.

Wow - I never knew anyone who made maple syrup before - cool.

Which made me think actually, a lot of people talk about going to work or DISing while at work, but I don't think I have any idea what most of you do! Anyone want to share?

I am bookkeeper for our church, bookkeeper for an attorney and I work online monitoring chat rooms and message boards. Aren't you glad you asked? :rotfl:

For an adult, I'd do them 8x10

Ok guys, I can finally write about our weekend with our friends.
We left Friday morning VERY early. Steffy will tell you, I do not do mornings.
I think I even fell asleep which is sometimes hard because DH tends to get irritated while driving :headache: Then he had gotten some directions that might cut about an hour off our time. He gets to an intersection and says "I left the map and directions at home but I think I turn here"
Well, it ended up that we saved about 45 minutes. Only because a logging truck, two tractor trailers, and of course, the driver who had to brake for everything :rotfl2: got in front of us.

All weekend it tried to snow, off and on. No accumulation, but it looked pretty coming down. On Sunday we went for a walk with the dogs. It was sunny and they ran up and back, even going to the creek for a drink and a little dip. That meant drying off before they came inside so we could brush them. I was also able to spend some time with Calie, who now comes up right away and demands to be held and brushed. She really purrs now. At night, she is at the window making sure that her little bed warmer is heating up in the microwave :rotfl2:
Got some good recipes, and like always, DH made one meal. This time it was Corned Beef and cabbage which he actually started the corned beef from a good brisket.
Over ten-twelve years ago our friends just up and left Pa, their jobs and bought the place where they live. Until recently they used the downstairs as a B&B and hunting lodge. So she did all the cooking. Insurance just got to be too high, so now they are trying to sell the place. Now they do a lot of craft shows, and they both work part-time.

Since the last time that we had gone down, they now have two chickens, a rooster and two guinea hens. I was not able to get any pictures. The birds are just constantly on the move. Such a racket the guinea hens make especially when they lay their eggs. The eggs are good, the guinea eggs are smaller but very bright yellow in color.

Coming home yesterday we made it in 5 hours instead of 6. That made DH very happy. I always hate the coming home part. :(
