Glynis, will one of you come and visit me?!

Needless to say, DH and I avoid the kitchen like the plague! We have been married 7 years, been in our house for almost 2, and just last week finally purchased a kitchen table and chairs!!!

Now THAT is a testament to how little we eat at home! :rotfl:

We were the same way when we were DINKs (Double Income No Kids). That lasted us 7 years, too, by the way. Then when I had DD, I decided it was cheaper to learn how to cook. Now I love it. I have to have a recipe to follow, though. DH usually just throws stuff together, and it always comes out great!

Now that makes more sense! You'll be fine - I can make fantastic yorkshires and it's well known that I can't cook!

Since I don't have a Yorkshire pudding mold pan, I'm just using muffin tins.

I'd love to have your recipe. Would you mind posting it or PM'ing me? Thanks. Any other typically British recipes would be helpful as well. I love to try new recipes, and I LOVE British food!

You totally have to let us know when it will air in all time zones. I'm so excited to be able to see you on TV. I just know that this is an answer to prayers and that good things will come out of this for Rees!

Filming is March 6 & 7. I think we got it!

OMG that is so exciting, I have never seen this show, but now I will have to watch it to find out what it is all about! :Pinkbounc

Ok, slight confession, I started out on the Toad in the hole, and then got distracted by one of the kids, and DH finished making it. He did most of the work, so I didn't even get to watch. I think I got as far as gathering all the ingredients. I'm definitely going to be the one making all the Yorkshire pudding myself. I love to cook, but so does DH, so it makes for some fighting in the kitchen. If I turn my back for a second, he takes over. It's so frustrating.

Sounds just like my house!!! My DH and I both like to cook. The only time it works out is if we decide to cook "together" then he doesn't get on my nerves because I'm expecting it. We do enjoy cooking together as well.

We make the one with the ice cream maker all the time.... it's AMAZING!

ETA: I'll post the recipe we use if you don't want to hunt for it. It's really simple!

Thanks would love the recipe.

hey I liked that show. In a fix. did they work on your house.

They were at our house filming all day for what was supposed to be a five minute portion of their show, but they canned the idea for the five minute fillers prior to the show being aired, so we never saw the footage!

How cool!!! And we can all say - "we remember her when...."

Hey Glynis - sounds like you can say you know another celebrity!

Denise -- are you excited to go to the auction house? That part of the show really interests me! I know if we found an auction house around here, I'd probably BUY more stuff than I would sell. You must be so excited!

I actually meant to post, but it's been a crazy day!

I went to a surgical oncologist last week, that specializes in the head/neck. He decided to do a needle biopsy on my lymph nodes, although he was certain they were just reactive after seeing all my tests from my other dr.

Sure enough - test results came back today, and everything is completely fine! My nodes are purely reacting to something, and have actually lessened in size - I bet it won't be long until they're gone for good!

Thanks for asking, Amy - and to all of you for your prayers a couple of weeks ago! :grouphug:

That is great news, Lindsay! I am glad that everything came back looking good.

I was thinking the same thing. After that long drive and now all they are doing is giving you grief.

I would like to proudly say that I was born in 1966!!!! And very proud of it. It takes special people to be in the "40+ club"!!!!

Lynn

I'm also a 1966 kid, joind the club this year.

Wow - I never knew anyone who made maple syrup before - cool.

Which made me think actually, a lot of people talk about going to work or DISing while at work, but I don't think I have any idea what most of you do! Anyone want to share?

I do billing and a bunch of other stuff for a financial printer. Our part of the company does the filings and printings that keep a company in good legal standing with the Securities and Exchange Commission and for when a company goes public on the stock market. It's not a bad gig because it's rarely very hard, though very busy at times. The best part is that I only work in the office for a few hours in the morning and then the rest of the time work from home.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Isn't it funny what they come up with. Where in Mass are you. Maybe we can plan a shopping trip somewher in between. I'm going to Manchester, NH tomorrow for lunch. My boys are itching to get to Chucky Cheese with their report cards. That is the closest one to us. So I'm driving 1 1/4 hrs for Chucky Cheese. I guess that isn't as bad as 10 hours for Chick -Fil -A :rotfl2: Any nice campgrounds around you. We are still planning our summer camping trips.

Deb

Well, Map Quest puts us at 2h24m from Salem, MA to you. Unfortunately, we don't have a car so I'm guessing it would take a lot longer to walk. If you ever make it further south than Manchester, though, let us know!

Thanks everybody for the well wishes -- a special birthday is a made up day from my family. I was adopted at three weeks old and my family celebrates that day. It is more important than the day that I turn another year older to our family - but the rest of the world celebrates the day I turn a year older in January. Paul has done a wonderful job of keeping up the tradition after my mom died. The kids in school were always jealous, I had two birthdays and they only had one.

Well, Happy Special Birthday then!! (Actually, I just hadn't gotten to posting it yet and was guessing this, but wasn't sure.) I SO want to adopt sometime in the future and plan to do something similar. How did your family celebrate when you were growing up since they were so close together? Did you have a party for one and then do a family thing for the other? I know, I'm being nosey, but I just think that it is such a wonderful idea and I love hearing of families that celebrate that special day.

Anyone want to meet for a margarita or something for lunch? :sad1:

ETA: I guess that needs a little qualification. Nothing drastic, just an age old, annoying, depressing "conversation" with DH.

 I hope you are feeling better. DH and I have a few things that I would call "conversations" too so I understand.

Ok, you're not going to believe this!~ Keep your fingers crossed! HGTV's show Cash in the Attic will be filming here in Atlanta the first 2 weeks of March. The show's producer just called me and we've made it to the final round. He will call back within the next couple of days to let me know if we've been chosen to be on the show. I said we wanted to redo our basement for the kids and get some adaptive equipment to help Rees out. PD please!!!!

Very cool! I hope that it works out. Lots of pixiedust: for you. Keep us posted!!

Happy Special birthday.

Some families around here call it a 'gotcha day' and celebrate that.

Have a good one.
