Congratulations to the soon-to-be-Grandmas! :goodvibes

And thank you for all the good wishes for our ultrasound tomorrow. Of course, a healthy baby is most important to us too, but we are far too curious to wait until July to find out the baby's gender. Plus, if we're having a boy, we need to stock up on blue now, because this is one pink household! :cutie:

Amy :)

For the baby shower everything nothing was pink or blue but when Talia was born by the next morning she had so much pink it was amazing and we had such a good excuse to buy more for her, I was laughing at my brother that if they have a boy now there wont be 1 item to hand down as I have very seldom not seen her with pink.

Good luck for tomorrow and let us know so we can shop!!!

Update on my mom:

The specialist doesn't feel either the MRI or PET scan are needed...they are just going in and doing a biopsy of the liver sometime this week. They wanted the biopsy done so they know what they are dealing with cancer or not.

Some pixiedust: pixiedust: for you and your Mom.

Has anyone heard from Denise?? Hope things are going well for her.

Denise -- sending lots of prayers and PD to Rees and you and your family. I know you can't wait to get Rees's surgery behind you. We're thinking about all of you.

Steffy - I used the DVD- for my videos, and I couldn't tell you why. That's what I bought many moons ago.

Thanks Tammi,

I bought DVD - because my DVD recorder will do both, but have never once burned a DVD!!

Hey Deb - how has your father been since his accident?? Is his life "back to normal" or as normal as it could be??

Oh yeah, he is back to normal. He is officially retired. He is also the person that was driving the 6 wheeler on Saturday that ended up colliding with a tree. It was very icy and no one was hurt although Chris was sitting on the front of it and was propelled off into the snow. It really wasn't bad and we all got a good laugh over it. I have taken a lot of ribbing about how I would get on any piece of equipment with him driving since he couldn't see a huge freight train. :rotfl: .

Anyone watching Deal or No Deal tonight? I didn't get to see it the last time it was on. My DM and DS10 can't wait to see it.

Deb

That show is in over there too! Wow! We watch it here every night DH and I love it!

We were just saying the other day that it's such a simple idea that it will translate into so many other countries - like millionaire only 100 times better!

The creator must be raking it in... why can't I think of something like that!!

ETA: ok so I'm sad enough to google your show - wow it is sooo different to ours! Yours looks all glam and is shown prime time!

Ours started out as a daytime tv show - airs at 4pm everynight and 6pm on Sundays - they've started repeating it at 6 and 7 on a sister channel so the masses can watch it as it's soo popular.

Anyway we don't have models and briefcases... we have 22 contestants who each randomly select a red box each day - then they line up behind a table with their boxes and a contestent is randomly selected by a spotlight. They then take their box to a table at the front and then start picking the numbers off, people open their boxes as chosen to reveal the amount printed on a label inside and then every three the banker phones up and offers him the deal.

I love it because all the contestents get to know each other (every time one gets to play they go home and they get someone new in) and you get to know them too, so you're really rooting for them to win some decent money. Our starts at one penny and stops at £250,000. Someone won the 1p once, no one has got the 250 yet though.

I'll have to watch your show in November to see how different it is - but I think I like our format best :goodvibes

Off to London now for a meeting.

Just stopping in long enough to say HI  and to send hugs :grouphug: and pixiedust pixiedust: to all who need it. Congrats to the pending grandparents!! I hope your little ones all get to feeling better and that parents' health is improving and that the snow stays away and the robins show up.

Did I miss anyone or anything??? :rotfl:

Things are slowly getting back to normal here and I am no longer working 7 days a week so I will start posting again very soon. But when I signed on this a.m. and was 30 pages or so behind I knew I would never catch up. So, unless someone tells me that I need to go back and read something.... here I will stay! Feels like I have come home

It is a simple concept, but we found it very entertaining. Chris usually will not watch game show, but he was glued to the tv cheering with the rest of us. We let the boys stay up late because they had been looking so forward to seeing it. The first contestant walked away with at $300+ Thousand dollar offer, opened the case he had to find that it was the $25 case. He made himself a very profitable deal.

It is still very cold around here, single digits. I keep coming back here just for something to do, but no one seems to be posting :confused3 Come on guys, I need something to brighten these dreary days.

I hope everyone is feeling better this morning. Denise, how is Rees. Is his surgery today? :wizard: :wizard: I hope that all goes well and the problem is completely taken care of.

Deb

Good morning Deb. I hope warmer weather comes your way!

Clare -- something I've been wondering about. I keep hearing that vacation time is more liberal in Europe. You don't have to be specific about yours, but what is the typical vacation time in England? Randy was just negotiating for time at his new job, and I started wondering what the norm is in other countries.

Tammi -- how is Nicholas today?

He is much better! :) I did keep him home though, since his fever was 102 yesterday afternoon. He'll miss his class picture today :(, but I sent the money in to buy it anyway. Maybe I can get one of the creative types here on the DDA to super-impose him into it?. :teeth:

Thanks for asking, Marci.

Just be sure to stay tuned today. Amy has her ultrasound today and has promised to let us know the results! Very exciting!

Hello, my DDA family! Things are looking up here in sickville, USA. Mary had a fever when she woke up, but it is going away on it's own. Hooray! Now, DH is down with it, but I made him stay home from work so that he could get some rest and hopefully heal! The kids all have colds, but that I can deal with. It's high fevers that are really scary!

It's really cold today here, too, Deb. I feel your pain. However, I do think that you are still A LOT colder than we are. I am so ready for spring!!!!! The twins were born on the first day of spring, so the rest of the kids are counting down the days!

My daughter Katie auditioned for her school's storytelling festival yesterday. She will find out today if she is chosen from her grade level. The ones chosen from the grade level perform in front of professional storytellers for the chance to do their story at our local Storytelling Festival in the summer. It's a huge thing! Storytellers from all over the world show up and spend a week telling stories and holding workshops. It's a pretty big deal. Katie really wants to do it. I was worried because she's really shy, but she's trying so hard to overcome it! I worry about her losing it, but she's doing really well! If you have any pixie dust to spare, Katie could use it!

Hi Marci - not sure if you mean days or time of year. I'm not sure what the average number of days holiday is in the UK but in my company when you reach junior management you get 30 days plus bank holidays (this is the max you get up through the ranks then I think)

We choose our holidays in January for the 12 months ahead - although my team is quite informal and we tend to book them as and when we think about it throughout the year. We just had a week off and have our November trip booked out, so that leaves me with 15 more days to take (plus the 4 I carried forward from last year!)

We have to take a fortnight off at some point - people with kids might go for July or August for summer holidays, we tend to avoid that period though. This year our fortnight is in November for Disney! Then we may take the odd week, or few days at a time during the year - but it varies from one year to the next depending on what's going on in our lives.

Hope that helps :goodvibes
