The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 29

That other post was really long but I'm not finished yet.;)

We got home from Open House and I had a voice mail from my sister. I haven't spoken to her in over a year because she tried to keep all of the assets from our father's estate for herself. I threw a fit and threatened to have criminal charges brought against her. The estate is sitting in probate now, and I imagine it will be there for another year or longer.

She was calling to invite me to a birthday party for her DD on Saturday. I am SURE our mother made her call me. Mother refuses to be upset that my sister tried to cheat her. But whatever.

I called her back to tell her we can't make it on Saturday. We talked for awhile. Kind of odd. She has had another DD in the time that we haven't been speaking to each other. I knew about the baby, it was just weird. So I told her maybe we can get together some other time since Saturday won't work for me. I don't think what she did was right, but maybe I can get past it. We'll see.
I hope the bridges can be repaired Elizabeth. Give it a chance. :thumbsup2 :wizard:

Adian update

September 13, 2007 at 11:01 PM CDT

So today was awfully exciting. It seems that we had a care conference again today and after hearing a large hand full of opinions the one that mattered most came last.

Development is going well with Aidan, slightly behind, but we expected that. They are working on his strength, movement and sucking.

Nutritionally he is doing well, however we do still have the issue with dumping and such, but that could still be due to all the antibiotics. It seems he has another infection from his central line, but that was pulled late yesterday. Hopefully the infection will go with it, but medicine will last two more weeks. The dumping will not be an issue in his release.

We then heard from his floor nurse and had a private discussion with them later. We worked out our differences and felt more comfortable with them as a whole.

Social services then chimed in with assistance programs for us. He has an evaluation next Thursday and this could help us out greatly when he comes home. We also found out about the plans on departure which brings us to the Doctor's Evaluation.

It seems that Aidan is Coming Home Soon! We have been put on the schedule for our first 48 hour room in. And Naomi and I are getting our training down. They actually said two weeks they would like to have him ready for discharge, with just some social work, follow up training and medication dictating the stay.

He was also given a shot at the Trach Collar today for an hour. He did pretty well, however they chose not to do it twice since his blood gas was slightly elevated. The Trach Collar is basically just Pre-Moistened ventilation in which Aidan does all the breathing on his own. This trach collar is a big deal as it will dictate where he goes after discharge and for how long. If we can get him onto the trach collar exclusively then there is a nursing home he will have to stay in for 24 hours upon discharge. This will help kick in medicaid for him, and they recently stopped excepting Vent babies. They may reconsider however. If he can't get in there with a vent, then he will have to go to Longview for 30 more days. This is not something we want, so we ask that Lord work this miracle in either his vent usage or the hearts of those providers. We will except either, we just don't want staying in Longview for 30 days if we can help it.

So with all that said, it looks like Aidan will be home in time for Pumpkin Carving and Fall Festivities (Mid October). We may have gotten him home a week sooner, but I will be taking Naomi away for a short time to San Francisco during my training with my new Employer. This will give us an opportunity to relax and prepare ourselves for the weeks and months ahead with our precious son. No time for trips, but we do have family training to assist us on a date night or two, when he does get out.

I can't say thanks enough for all the well wishes and prayers, and ask that they continue fervently in the days and weeks to come. We are seeing that light we have prayed so long and hard for; and what we thought was only dreams a short while back is becoming realty quicker then we anticipated.

He is now 24 inches long and 19 lbs of love.

Good morning, everyone!!!

Stephanie - I would find out how to lodge a formal complaint again that drug store. That is completely unacceptable.

Yeah, I just went nuts the other day in Columbus -- there were great sales!

Jennifer I have not read all of your TR yet, but I did look at the pictures you have posted so far. Garrett looked at them with me & now he is even more excited about our trip in Dec. Look forward to seeing more, your pictures are great!

Thank you! It's driving me nuts that I don't have the rest up!

so somebody in my house (front runner is "not me") refilled the salt shaker with sugar and didn't replace the lid well so we sugared our popcorn. :lmao:

So Abi is making some more.

I'm sorry, but that is too funny! I hear that "not me" is a really common phenomenon where you get this invisible child as soon as you have your own (visible, of course ;)) children!

Just a quick fly-by post....

My week has been crazy, and I have a killer cough that sounds like I have been smoking 3 packs a day for years! :lmao: I think everyone at my office will be relieved that I'm not there tomorrow!

Went to Austin for work on Monday/Tuesday. Ended up having to drive as the rain was so horrendous in Dallas on Monday, and we were worried about our flights making it out to get to Austin on time. So, I got to make 2 round-trips to Austin in 96 hours. Been busy at work since getting back, plus trying to kick this cold. I don't feel too badly, but it was interesting with no voice and this cough in Austin!

I can't believe we leave tomorrow a.m. - I'm almost relieved that it's a short trip (blasphemy!) since I haven't had much time to devote to it. I am really excited to ssee the new HM in all its glory tomorrow - the reports I've read sound awesome!

I will try to check in if I can, and we'll be sure to take lots of pics at the MNSSHP tomorrow night. I will also get a truckload of maps! :thumbsup2

If I'm not back soon, have a great weekend, DDA! :goodvibes

(Hey Jennifer - I will keep an eye out in the parks on Saturday/Sunday! I'm not sure where all we'll be going - for the first time in a long time, I don't have a current plan! :scared: :wizard: :wizard: that the weather forecast improves!)

Aagh! I forgot to talk with you more after we switched from VWL. I'll PM you, in case you get it!

Just what Terry said..... and I will help her HURT that someone.

First thing tomorrow or today morning, get thee to the pharmacy and get new pills---correct pills. Insist they put on your record to cross check for interaction between drugs. You might want to check about changing where you get your meds cause there are places that automatically check for these kind of problems. Also----insist that your Doctor put this info on your prescriptions.

This means homework, but your life is in their hands and you need to be sure that you are taken care of ----------------or I will go and HURT someone.

Hi everyone and TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im off to work,,and its pay day :) :) :)

Not sure whats going on tonight--ifi they keep grandpa in NYC..we mght go stay for the night..

Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning, DDA!

Good morning, everyone!!!

Stephanie - I would find out how to lodge a formal complaint again that drug store. That is completely unacceptable.

I agree! The issue ISN'T that the Dr. needs to flag for drug interaction. The WRONG medication was dispensed, and it was a med that could have had serious consequences had Stephanie ingested it. (Although I don't think one would have been fatal.) I would see who regulates pharmacies and find out how to file a complaint. I would think the FDA would be where to start. Good luck!!

Lindsay - Have fun! I hope you feel better!:wizard:

Jennifer - I hope it doesn't rain on you!:wizard:

I am hoping we are on the right track with the school now, so that's good. I just noticed there is no school next Friday. We have never been out for Yom Kippur before so I think it's a coincidence.

We'll see how it goes with my sister. We have never been close because of the age difference. It doesn't hurt to be on speaking terms with her, I suppose.

OK. Off to pack some lunch for DS. Have a great day, all!:)

All this talk about Christmas shopping...........does it count that I am at least thinking about what I want to get people? I have, however, picked up 2 Hallmark ornaments for the kids.

Ok, this is what Katie & I came up with from Costco. I like the Cinderella picture alot but it doesn't look good with the cards they have. (same thing with the close up of the kids). This picture seems to go well with the background. What do you all think?

xmaspluto.jpg

I am going to order them online & then pick them up at the store..so convinient! (I didn't know about ordering online last year)
Love it! The background colors in the picture go great with the border!

We went to Open House, met all of the teachers (except the Art guy, who I am not worried about) and now I feel better. The band director was there and he said DS shouldn't worry about the referral - he would take care of everything. Good. He also said I don't have to pay a fee for DS to use the drums at school. Good.
Talked with the Social Studies teacher. She is VERY nice and DS just completely misunderstood the assignment. He never showed her the definitions he wrote by hand so she thought he ONLY printed them on the computer. Got that worked out. Good.
Talked to the math teacher. He thinks DS will succeed if we expect him to succeed. We'll see. He said if DS just can't handle it he can go back to 6th grade math. Good.
No issues at all with the Reading/Language Arts teacher.:)
I told each and every teacher that DS has 504 modifications being placed in their boxes by the counselor, so they know I am not playing when it comes to adhering to them. I would imagine complaints about non-compliance get the teachers in trouble, so perhaps now they will comply.
If DS tolerates his new meds OK over the weekend then he will be on them next week at school. HOPEFULLY now we will make some progress.:rolleyes1
Sounds promising!:wizard:

Congrats!

I got the crib put together tonight. I will go to the laundry mat next week and wash all the bedding. Then I can finish putting it all together. My aunt is coming in from Hawaii on the 28th of this month. She is an interior decorator and said she would help me hang the pictures in Virginia's room. She helped me hang the same pictures in Olivia's room when she was a baby.
:thumbsup2 Won't be too long before she's here!

I'm ten pages behind and tired, but I am wide awake because I am hopping mad. :furious: :furious: :furious:

Went to the drug store to get my Zyrtec allergy pills refilled. Instead, I have 30 antipsychotic drugs with really wicked side effects.

The last time they did this (dispensed the wrong drug,) I brought them in, she apologized, made sure I hadn't taken any, replaced them with the right pills and I was on my way.

Not this time. I looked up these big honking pills on the web. These are dangerous. One side effect is "increased morbidity" :surfweb: :scratchin :scratchin hmmmmmm I seem to have gotten a clue. Morbity means oh my gravy [/death!!U][/B

It really doesn't like my other pill. So if this was my first time filling this RX, I might be swallowing a really dangerous pill with really horrid side effects that would not play nice with the pills I already take. This is the second time!!! Only thing this one is way more powerful with worse side effects. Had I swallowed this pill, I'd be in a world of hurt...

What is the best way of handling this? :confused3

I know I kid about being old, but morbidity was just not on my radar... I'm not ready. And I just don't want to go that way.

:scared1: Glad you caught the mistake. Good luck finding out how to report this!

Good morning, all!

I can't believe you guys are all organized enough to get your Christmas cards done already. :rotfl2:

Stephanie, that's horrible!!!

Since I skipped some pages, I don't know if this has been posted, but WDW is looking for some moms who know the ins and out of WDW and of course, I thought of the DDA http://www.disneyworldmoms.com/ If you're picked, you get a trip!

Thanks, Theresa! I hope you are able to make some headway with Abi's IEP or whatever it is!

Ironically the teachers all said they don't assign very much homework, but the kids do bring home classwork they don't finish. Another HUGE clue that DS's meds aren't working. DH was getting mad at DS but we are almost back where we were before we had him on an effective med - he can't concentrate, doesn't listen to and follow directions, gets all confused and flustered. On his math papers he was redoing ALL of the problems, even the ones he got RIGHT! No wonder it was taking so long! DH needs to remember that DS isn't doing it on purpose!

Elizabeth -- I hope the new meds work. It sounds like that is most of the problem right now. That is a huge topic at Shelton -- adjusting as kids age/grow and how to stay on top of it.

Good morning, everyone!!!

Stephanie - I would find out how to lodge a formal complaint again that drug store. That is completely unacceptable.

I agree. Even once can be deadly, but twice....UNACCEPTABLE is an understatement in my opinion.

Hi everyone and TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you all have a great day!

PD and prayers for your Grandpa, Jen.

Lindsay and Jen -- I hope you both have MAGICAL trips! Can't wait to hear about them.

We have lots of sports this weekend -- two baseball games and a soccer game tomorrow morning. I sure wish we had mid-80s like Tuesday, instead of the mid-90s they are predicting. Oh well... I do live in Texas!

Have a great weekend, DDA!

My goodness, you have been posting like crazy! I can't keep up.

I need to run and make dinner, but I wanted to check in quickly.

Deb, I like this one:
DebXmas.jpg

The PTA meeting last night was interesting. I kept my mouth shut, but another mother did ask. The principal basically said the same things that she said to me, and I don't think it made a very good impression. This morning she was talking to some teachers (one of my good friends among them), and said that she thought the meeting went very well last night. My friend told her that she had some very upset parents still, and the principal was a bit surprised. My friend gave her my number, and the principal called me to ask to meet with me again tomorrow about this matter. She was much friendlier than at our last meeting. Maybe she can learn.

Steffy and Terry, the principal is probably a few years older than I am...maybe early 50's. She didn't introduce herself or give any of her background, so I'm not entirely sure. I do know that most recently she was an assistant principal at another elementary school in the district. Again, that would have really help the first impression of many at the meeting last night. I guess she has a few things to learn, but if she can start being open to that, she may do well. I am keeping an open mind.

I had another great day with the 3's! This is such a verbal group of three year olds, and they are already getting along so well with one another. There are a few minor things going on with the director, but I don't even want to think about that right now. I really do think that 3 is my favorite age to teach. There is such a wonder and magic about them and their first school experience.

I'm sorry that I have had to skip a bunch again. Tomorrow won't be any better, because I am helping with Dunk the Teachers day at Miles' school right after work. They have to read a certain number of pages to earn balls to throw at the Dunk Tank. The gym and art teachers sit in the tank, and it's always fun.

Beth

I love the picture. Thanks for taking the time to do that.

It seems that maybe the principal has seen the light, but be cautious when you meet as she doesn't seem to be very personable and lacks a bit in the communication dept.

Hey all! We don't leave until Saturday, but I don't know how much I'll be on. Thanks for the well-wishes! Please keep your fingers crossed that our weather doesn't suck as bad as they are predicting. Right now it is just thunderstorms, everyday. Not scattered, not isolated just tons of thunderstorms. :guilty: I wouldn't care as much if it were just Kyle and I, but we are paying a lot of money for my mom and sister to go, and they just don't get to go enough as it is! :sad1:

I hope the weather predictions are wrong!

Have a great trip. I hope that your cold vanishes in the Florida sunshine:wizard: :wizard:

okay caught up.

My Dr.s appointment went well. I am still losing weight, since I started the low carb. no soda diet.

That's great. Maybe these techiniques will stay with you after Virginia's birth. It sounds like a healthy diet plan

well since their is nothing else I want at disney.com I don't think I will order the costume. shipping is over $8 almost as much as the costume is.

There is free shipping starting today on costumes use code costumeship
Maybe I'll give you all call since you won't be on today.

My ME tags came today! :yay:

I told the kids today about the trip today over lunch.

Sophie was o.k. with it.

Daniel gave me a hug & said I deserved a break & a treat. He is such a sweetie.

Katie cried her eyes out & said I couldn't go to Disney since it was a "family" place. She cried for a while but we chatted & she is fine now.

I'll just have to bring home a nice gift for the 3 of them.

Our tags came too   Of course I didn't expect them as we are renting a car, but when I initially booked we didn't have the car reserved so I must have signed us up :lmao: It was a nice surprise though.

Ok, this is what Katie & I came up with from Costco. I like the Cinderella picture alot but it doesn't look good with the cards they have. (same thing with the close up of the kids). This picture seems to go well with the background. What do you all think?

That came out great. The background blends very well:thumbsup2

mom makes it with just the nuts, m&m and goldfish. i hate rasins. speaking of rasins. my dad sent me a notice about grapes and rasins and dogs. DO NOT feed them to your dogs they are very toxic and will kill them

Onions are deadly for dogs too.

I'm glad that you are on top of your meds, so many people don't take the time to check that they received the right meds. I would definitely file a complaint with the governing body. If it has happened to you twice then it has certainly happened to others too. That is not something to mess around with. Good luck :wizard:

I swear my luck sucks. I've been looking forward to this camping trip for weeks and I woke up this morning with vertigo. Ugh. I really feel fine other than my head spinning. I couldn't even close my eyes as I had bed spins. It was like a ride on Mission Space in my own home :lmao: My Dad is going to come down and drive me to pick up my nephew at school since I don't want to endanger myself or the kids. I suspect that I have a nasty little virus rearing it's little head though I still think that I passed a kidney stone on Tuesday. I guess this just isn't my week healthwise.

I ended up going to bed straight after work last night since we got our butts kicked and I was exhausted between all the camping prep and work. Chris and the boys did a good job getting the house picked up so I don't have to do too much today and if the housework doesn't get done it won't be the end of the world.

Oh Deb, try to rest today. Leave the housework for 1 day & take care of yourself.
