Have a good day everyone! We've got to get around and ready as Kassie has preschool graduation today. Rachel's 5th grade recognition is tomorrow night as well and then by Friday they are done for the summer.

Some eye candy for me and you to enjoy.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Pictures from the Disneyland premiere of POTC At World's End. Which I would have loved to have been at but was not.

Anne Marie - you have such beautiful dancers. At what age did you start putting your girls in more than one class? I know Alyssa would love tap too, but she is doing so good at ballet that I really want her to stick with it. Being only 5 I don't know if she (or I) could handle more than one class a year.
Does your studio have combo classes? Rachel and Kassie both take ballet-tap. It is one hour every week and they do have of the class on each technique. Kassie is 5 as well and this will be her 3rd class with them.
The girl's studio starts combo classes at age 3-4 or preschool.
Preschool classes 20 mins tap, 20 mins ballet, 20 mins tumbling. For those classes the girls perform 1 number at the recital which is usually tap.

Kindergarten classes (Where Sophie is now) is 30 mins tap, 30 mins ballet & it is a combo class where they perform both the tap & ballet at the recital.
They do this combo until age 7 (2nd grade) where they have the 1 hour class on each dance type.

Katie is in 4 classes now & if she makes compnay she will go to 6-7.

I just did something that I NEVER do. I just called into work sick. I've still got the sore throat, but now I've got a fever and shakes too. I feel pretty weak. If it weren't for shaking I would go to work, but I'm not sure how I'd do carrying the trays while trembling. Thankfully I'm not scheduled again until Thursday so I should be fine by then. I HATE to call in. Now I feel bad that they are going to be short handed.
Deb, don't feel guilty. You need a rest. Feel better.

I just ordered The Little Mermaid on Broadway tickets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are for Katie & Sophie's birthday present...I got 6th row in November!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

I am so excited! :yay: :yay: :yay:

You did the right thing. I don't know that I would like to be served by someone who is sick.

Rest up and feel better soon!!

Glad you had a great, rain free, weekend.

 I think you did the best thing for everyone, Deb. If you are running a fever, chances are you are contagious and the rest of the staff won't want what you have now. I hope you shake this thing pretty soon!

Can you see the difference?

Yes!!! You look incredible!!!

By the way, I love the one of you with the boys!!! I hope my Jacob will still let me hug him when he's bigger. Maybe I need to show him these pictures, so he'll know it's ok!

Oh, dear.:sad2: The family has come up to the price I told them I wanted. Now what? I guess now we will wait and see if the family from today meets all of my contract terms and go from there. It's not supposed to be THIS hard.

At least it's hard in a good way! Two families fighting over you, and willing to pay you what you want! Good on ya!!!

Tomorrow unofficially starts my summer vacation. No preschool, no ballet. So all I have to do is get Nicholas on the bus. No running around! I do, however, need to mow the grass and go to the grocery store. I also told Alyssa we might go to the school and have lunch with Nicholas, so she can see what she will be doing in a few months.

That's a really good idea! It will help her feel comfortable there.

Our school is only half day kindergarten, but in the Spring, the kindergarten teachers take their classes to lunch in the lunchroom so they can see how it works, where they line up, how they pay the lunch ladies, etc. It really helped Katie and Jacob feel better about going to school full time!

Becky - Thank you for the pics! I love that room! Probably not very practical, but it looks terrific!

Tammi - Ah! Summer!:goodvibes Summer starts for me on Friday, which means the kids will ALL be out of school and no camps until June 11. That's going to be a LONG stretch of days. I'm glad Shrek was good, because we are going to go see it. That's one thing about going into a job with younger kids - no more movies during the week. Brother is just now able to sit through a movie, and he fell asleep at "Meet the Robinsons". The one job has a 22 mo. old, the other job has an 18 mo. old so nobody will be old enough for movies at the theater for awhile.

I just heard of something that one of our movie theaters is starting this summer: Movies for Mom's. One morning a week (this will be year round), in one of the 17 theaters in the complex, a movie will be shown where mom's can bring their babies. It will be a discounted "second run" showing of a "chick flick", and they are saying that strollers, playpens, nursing mothers, etc., will all be welcome. Each mother will be given a head set to wear so they can hear the movie, and kids will be allowed to play, etc. If I had little kids, I might be tempted to do this. I think it's a great idea!

OK, Marti... I knew that Clare and her DH were going to WDW now, but I had no idea you and Marci were also going! How fun... except for the sunburn you seem to have gotten. Rochester sun is a lot less strong if I remember correctly.

I was there for a conference Monday - Thursday of last week, and Marti joined me, which was great. I hate going to conferences and having to eat alone. It was torture watching the families get ready to go to the parks every morning, and me trotting out to seminars about working with the government, but it was sure fun meeting Claire and Lee and spending more time with Marti. We did manage to get about 7 hours in the parks, a few one morning and a few more hours one evening. That picture Marti posted shows me with my splash mountain hair. The first ride we went on the morning that I didn't have seminars was Splash. To say we got wet is an understatement -- I had water dripping down my face.... then changed to go to the conferences and changed to go to DTD without getting a shower.

We are home from meeting with the family. DH & DS agree that they are very nice people. I just phoned the agent to tell her we are ready to move into contract negotiations, but her cell phone was cutting out so she is going to call me back.

Momboss left me a voice mail that she got a call from the mom with the 18 mo. old for a reference. She said she told the mom I'm not too bad.:rotfl2: I had a voice mail from the dad asking me to call to discuss the position, but I am going to wait a little bit before I call them. Obviously they wouldn't have called for references if they didn't manage to come up with a bit more in salary, so declining their offer is going to be difficult. They are SUCH a nice couple.

The couple we just met with are very nice, too, and I think I will enjoy working for them. We just need to make sure we are all on the same page as far as contract terms and we'll be all set.

Elizabeth -- it's wonderful that you have opportunities to pick from. It shows those families are indeed smart since they've both picked you!

Good evening everyone! I see it has been another quiet day here. The graduation was wonderful, why does certain music always make you cry when you are trying not to :confused3 Here are a couple of pictures from after the ceremony.

Beautiful pics Janet -- you look FABULOUS!

Deb -- I hope you feel better soon! Better to call in sick and get better then to not let yourself heal and get much worse, possibly missing much more of work. Enjoy your time off -- you've been working hard and deserve some rest.

Tammi -- the pics of Alyssa were beautiful. I love that you let us see a pic of you with Alyssa, too.

Anne Marie -- your girls looked beautiful, too! Thanks for sharing!

We just finished another weekend with baseball and soccer. The forecast for Dallas has rain possible for the next week. :scared1: As Elizabeth said, we've just now dried up from all the storms/flooding we've had recently. I hope it holds off until about 10 p.m. each night so we can get the last of the make-up soccer games in this week. And it would be nice not to get behind in baseball again, as Andrew has two games this week and Jake has one.

Sending PD to all of those who need it! :wizard:

Our weekend...

We left here around 4:30 PM on Friday. I had picked the kids up at school and ran to Pizza Hut for 4 large pizzas and bread sticks. That way I had dinner covered for Friday night and lunch for Saturday. I wanted to keep it as easy as possible for myself. We got to the campground about 5:45 PM. Chris and I set up the site and my Mom and the boys ate Pizza then she took Nick and Hunter to candy bar Bingo. Colby stayed with us and finished eating and setting up. It was cold, but not raining. The other Scout families trickled in throughout the night and we ended up having a campfire at our site with about 5 other families. It was really nice and we stayed out until about 11:30. The kids had plenty of other kids to play with and by 11 they were worn out :lmao:

I woke up at 3:30 AM to the sounds of rain on the camper roof. By 4:30 AM the rain had stopped. We had another brief shower around 8 AM, but it had stopped by the time our mini golf tournament started at 9 AM. We put the kids names in one hat and the adults in another and made teams of 4. It works out well as the kids end up NOT being with their parents so they behave better and don't whine or cheat and the parents can relax and enjoy the game. It was a lot of fun. Chris had the lowest overall score, but his team did not :rotfl:

The campground had the theme of Easter for the weekend with activities scheduled around that theme. At 11 AM as we were finishing mini golf they were having easter egg hunts. We took all of the kids to that. They were surprised to have so many kids show up so I ended up helping them hide eggs and we made a 6 egg limit to make sure that all kids got eggs. They enjoyed that. Then we headed back to our sites for lunch. Each family did their own thing. Then back to the Rec Hall for some cake with the Easter Bunny. The campground had a heated pool so some families allowed their kids to swim. I was not one of those nice Mom's and my kids were POd. Oh well they got over it. While the pool temp was 83 degrees, the outside air was in the 40s, not swimming weather in my opinion. My kids showed up for the egg relay race, but they were the only kids to show up so they won the prizes without doing anything. At 3 PM we had the fishing derby. The pond was surrounded with people. The fishing were jumping and everyone was really excited. The problem was that someone had fed the fish :scared1: So we fished for 1 1/2 hours and only ONE boy caught a fish. It was a 15 inch trout. No one else caught anything :sad2: (notice no mention of rain since 8 AM :thumbsup2 )

At about 5:30 PM we gathered at our site for the group meal. So many people had mentioned that they forgot to bring a dish so I was getting really nervous. I ended up making a croc pot cake, cooking 10 lbs of hot dogs and throwing together macaroni and alfredo sauce. I shouldn't have worried as we ended up with PLENTY of food. Way too many hot dogs. The cake was completely gone though. I was amazed how everyone just disappeared when it came time to clean up though. My mother was a huge help and we made short work of it. Chris started a fire and people started gathering again. The kids played on the road in front of the sites. Since it was only scouting families in that area the traffic was pretty much no existent so biking and frisbee etc was easy and fun. We had planned to do a campfire program around 8:30. The campground was having a dance starting at 7:30 with an Easter Bonnet contest at 8. I threw together an easter bonnet using flowers cut out of wall paper samples and a fishing hat. I talked chris into wearing it (sorry, I forgot my camera). He ended up being the only person with an easter bonnet so we won 3 nights free camping :thumbsup2 . When we got back the kids did there songs and skits. It was cute. The boys were disappointed that we didn't do their favorite skit from last year so I had the kids do it for us very impromptu. they were a hoot and loved it. Colby even did the dentist part. Too funny. That was followed by smores. It was after 9 by then so some kids were ready for bed. some of the group broke up. Other kids went back to playing which left a nice group of adults around our fire. I made cocktails for those that wanted them and we had a great time just hanging out. It was after midnight before we went in. My kids trickled in before then requiring baths and tuck ins, but that was easy since we were at our site anyway. Other than the cold it was perfect.

We got up Sunday and slowly packed up camp. My Mom helped with the inside cleanup then took the boys to mini golf. Chris and I finished up and chatted with those around us. Very relaxing. We left for home about 11:15 and it had just started to pour. It rained most of the way home, but we drove through it and came home to no rain :woohoo: Apparently it rained at home ALL weekend. We got really lucky. Thank you DDA Pixie Dust.

Once we got home I took a nap as I still had the sore throat and cold. I had to be at work at 4 PM. It was pretty slow which was ok as I wasn't feeling great. Came home and read here for awhile before crashing. I'm still feeling a bit under the weather, but not down and out. I'm working at 5 tonight too.

Now off to build train tracks for the boys.

Deb - It sounds like you had a great time! It is amazing how people leave before cleanup, isn't it? I always tell Alan that no matter what we clean up before we leave. That's only manners!

Congrats to Chris on being the Easter bonnet winner! How I would love to see that picture!!!

I hope you feel better, Deb!

Whew! I'm all caught up!!!

Sorry I never got back on last night. After our KFC dinner, we watched Mulan, and I was getting the kids ready for bed, when a dizzy spell hit me! This was the worst one yet! I was shaky, sweaty, and really icky!!! I haven't had a spell like this since Christmas, so I was totally unprepared for it. Thankfully, Katie could see what was happening. She got me to the couch and made me lie down. Then she took over getting the twins ready for bed, she read stories to them, tucked them in and then she and Jacob got themselves in bed. It took me a couple of hours to get over this spell, and by then I was wiped out!!! Alan called right in the middle of it, and he was so upset that he wasn't there. Katie just assured him that she had everything under control. When did my baby grow up so much???

Anyway, I'm much better today! I spent the morning finishing up the cookies and cupcakes for the carnival this afternoon. The twins and I went back to the Disney outlet store where we found a couple of hats for them for our DL trip, I managed to sneak some Tinkerbell surprises into the basket when they weren't looking, so I feel good about that!

I can't believe how quickly the trip is coming up! I keep looking at my list, and it doesn't seem to be getting any shorter! At least I made an appointment with our mechanic to get our car looked at this weekend. That will be a huge relief on my mind! I just want to make sure it's running perfectly before we drive that far!
