I've been trying to work up a logo for the audience participation challenge, but I don't think I'm doing too well. I think what I have is too complex to be a "logo". I think I'll just pack it in and do something else to waste my time. :)

Im not doing it either this time--i have NO talent in designign!!!!

I'm off to work. Today has not gone at all as planned. My boss called this morning and needed me to book airfare and a car rental for his trip next week. apparently he needed it done now as he walked into the house while I was talking to him on the phone:scared1: I don't know what your houses look like in the morning, but mine was a mess. Anyhow I got it all booked, but it made the boys 15 minutes late for school. When I got back I checked my email to make sure we received all the confirmations and one leg of airfare was missing. Thankfully I was able to book it then so all is ok. I had also planned to run errands while the boys were in preschool, but my mother (she works in the same building) was short 2 people and needed my help. Oh well, at least the day is 1/2 over. Talk to you all tonight.

Deb

Deb-sorry your day is so crazy ! hope you have a easy night at work!!

Kate - Welcome home! Today is the first day to register for the '08 marathon. I would like to hear more about it before I make a commitment. Of course the scheduling for DS and DH is another HUGE hurdle to look at, as well as whether or not I will have enough time to train.

Elizabeth - if I could do it, than anyone could do it! It was totally the experience of a lifetime! It was so much fun to be a part of all the stuff leading up to the marathon! The actual run/walk was really neat, too! There was such a feeling of friendship among all the participants. Everywhere you looked there was someone encouraging you, helping you, etc. I would definitely do it again!

Alan and I are thinking of doing the Disneyland half marathon in September, so that's something to work toward.

Well I just got back from a memorial for 2 firefighter's that died 20 years ago. I hope i NEVER have to go to one of them again, it was so hard, and I never knew the guys. We drove in a police bus to the scene of the fire and there were a ton of uniformed firefighters, firetrucks lined the street, the families of the two men that died, and the statue that they unveiled today. It was so hard and the guys saluted and some were crying. Im glad i went and it was a a nice dedication, but ir eally hope to never have to go to another like that again

it was really inspirational to watch

and I really would love to try - so I am going to tentavely say yes - we are thinking about staying then for a full trip

they had to get up so stinking early though!!

I actually had my biggest disney disappointment in relation to the marathon - they told us there would be buses to take us to Epcot to watch - so at 6 am my nephew and I go to get a bus and they tell us there are no buses - people had been waiting for an hour - after about 15 minutes I was angry - no cabs no buses - so I went in and told the manager - this is why I came and you said the buses would be running - I would have made other arrangements if I had known - you need to find a way to get us all b/c your hotel gave us all misinformation - there were no cabs - anything - and the manager said to me - no one here told you that i said yes they did and they told everyone out front the same thing - and his answer -I have no way to verify that you were told that but I assure you that no one here would have told you that b/c it is not true basically the man called me a liar -

DVC will be hearing about this!!!!

other than that and the lack of medals (which I hear they did find some more but not everyone got them) I think it was pretty well run

Kate that is just horrible about the buses. I'm going to look through my stuff and see what they said about it. It seems to me that I read that transportation would be provided for families. Let me check on that and I'll get back to you.

I've been using Glynis' rule....you have to take as many bites as you are old. That woman knows all the parenting tricks. :thumbsup2

If only!!!! Thanks for the compliment, though! I had some good teachers!

Bernadette,
See you in August!!!!!!!!!:dance3: Where are you staying?(or did I miss that post?popcorn:: )

I am still checking airfare. If I can't get anything $89 or under then we are driving.:scared:

Not sure if you guys remember that I was looking ofr the REALLY detailed La Nouba seating chart. I found it. You click "Buy Tickets" on the Disney site and go through until it pulls up the seats it is offering you. The section and seat numbers can be clicked, and it pulls up a seating chart (different than the one in the top corner). THAT is the one that is in such minute detail. It also looks like La Nouba is booking a little more than 6 mos. out - they go to July 25 right now. I need August 22, so I have to remember to watch the site. I know DS is going to be enchanted!:cloud9:

Hey everyone! Do we still want to try and plan a DDA cruise for sometime in 2008? I am thinking about possible rewards for meeting my weight loss goals and I was thinking last night about taking my first cruise. Since just Terra and I on a cruise wouldn't be as much fun, I've love to be able to meet up with some of you. Anyone still interested? If so, I'll start doing some preplanning and prelooking for possibilities!

Put me down as a maybe! Alan mentioned that he would like to try a Disney cruise. It couldn't hurt to give him some information, now could it?

Prayers and PD for Jennifer & her family, please!

Jennifer just called and asked me to let you all know her uncle passed away unexpectedly.:guilty: She was on her way to pick up Olivia from her mom, then they were going to go break the news to her Grandma.

I told her to let us know if there is anything we can do, but for now just keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Jennifer - :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

I thought I had this all worked out, but I am not even close.:sad2:

Are Garden Grill and Liberty Tree Tavern sort of similar? I know they aren't exactly alike, but if you really think about it, are they kind of? We've never been to either one, but I don't thik I want to do both in the same trip. My problem is that I am getting lazy about eating out of the parks. If we don't do Liberty Tree we can always go to Kona, which we love.

DH wants to try Teppanyaki, which is fine, but we would pay OOP because I have heard they are snarky about Dining Plan. And they are going to be closed until the end of May for "major rehab" so I wonder how different it will be when they reopen?

I am also trying to work out where to eat after our AK day. We usually go to Boma, but I wasn't thrilled last time. We could really take a bus to ANY resort from there, so maybe that will be our night to try Cape May? On the other hand, the new TS at AK will be opening in July so maybe we'll go there. Do you think Pan Asian is too similar to Japanese? Because it would be consecutive nights with Teppanyaki.:headache:

Elizabeth - of all the character meals (and we've tried just about all of them, I believe), Garden Grill, LTT, and Chef Mickey's are our favorite.

Although I can see where you're coming from in that there are some similarities, they're still very different. If you want to set aside the food, it comes down to ambiance and characters. At LTT you'll get Chip, Dale, Goofy, Pluto, and Minnie. At GG, you'll get Chip, Dale, Pluto and Mickey. If Mickey, Minnie, or Goofy are a deal-breaker for you, go with the one that has them.

Also, at GG, I think it's a bit more "private" - particularly if you can get one of the outer booths. LTT, you're a bit more squished together.

That said, we love both!

Read somewhere, too, that they've moved the dates for Teppanyki's refurb (Allears newsletter, maybe?). I think it might now be through sometime in June, so if you're worried about them reopening by May, you might want to reconsider if they're pushing it back.

Not sure what to tell you after AK, although your thought of taking a bus to any resort is a good one. There's always DTD, too. We're looking to try Raglan Road next trip.

I think we are likely to end up at Teppanyaki, Garden Grill OR Rose & Crown. Though we would do just as well with fish & chips from the UK CS. So Teppanyaki or Garden Grill. And we aren't going until August, so if the Teppanyaki refurb is longer it isn't a big deal. The thing is, when we have been to Kobe Steaks we always leave hungry. Another reason to pay OOP so we can keep ordering until we are full, I suppose!:rotfl2:

I would do LTT to just cut down on the travel time. I bet DH will want to go back to WL in the afternoons, so going to another resort for dinner and then on to the park is a lengthy process. Better to just go back to MK and eat at LTT. We're doing Chef Mickey's for breakfast one day. DS loves Chip and Dale so he would probably like LTT or GG.

After AK we'll probably go to Cape May because that's another one we have never done. I thought about doing it on one of our Epcot days, but we are doing Flying Fish the first Epcot night and there's that problem again of just too much running around. If we go after AK at least we aren't trying to go BACK to AK after dinner. If we're feeling energetic we can go to Epcot after Cape May!:rotfl2:

Last August the night we went to DTD it was a NIGHTMARE. It was the most crowded I have ever seen anything! The line for Ghirardelli's was out the door, and it wasn't moving. We stood in it for a minute, but we gave up. I don't think we are going to Marketplace this time around. We'll do La Nouba and dinner at Wolfgang Puck's and call it a night!

Wanna pick every ones brains.

Food ideas for a birthday party for an adult?
Tired of the cookout theme. Hosting at a local firehouse, so have use of the kitchen. Birthday is in early May, so could possibly still be cold out. Simple and easy, and enough to feed 26 adults, the 3 kids will just pick.

Thanks, Heidi

I'm sure that others have already posted this, but I like getting cold cut trays and small rolls for sandwiches. Different types of salad, green, pasta, potato, etc., chips and dip, appies, etc.

Can you do a pot luck? That works really well for my family. It's a large family, and would be very cost prohibitive if one person were to provide the food for everyone. We ask everyone to bring a main and a side dish. We put everything out buffet style, and there's always enough to go around. The family with the birthday (or the hosting family) is responsible for any birthday cake, but others generally bring other dessert items as well.

Good luck!

i didnt think they were the best

Karen - We were in line for them last time, but then we decided to walk ALLLL the way over to Norway instead! It would have been shorter to go around on the Future World side, but of course we went the other direction, around by France. Needless to say we were VERY hungry by the time we got to Norway!

Maybe we'll try the fish & chips around lunch, but just share an order in case we don't like them!;)

Yeah for Allen getting to give you the medal.

Thank you, yes I was planning on cold cut trays, but wasn't sure what else I wanted. And yes my family already said they would contribute some of the food, we have always done it this way even for cookouts.
