Hello all...

Just checking in...I haven't been around much and mostly likely won't be for a bit. My 91 year old father in law fell and is in the ICU. Very long story...but he isn't doing well. Very stressful, and Bill as the only child is having a hard time. We have been faced with some difficult decisions....we signed a DNR. I truly pray for a peaceful release for him...there's just no quality of life left for him. We are exhausted and functioning on only a few hours of sleep.

Hope all of you are doing well.

Kristine

Kristine,

You all are in my prayers. Bill has had a really hard time of late. Please pass on our good thoughts and well wishes.

I know there is a board for this, but I feel more comfortable asking here. I am thinking about renting points for our Oct. stay at BWV. I would have to split our stay beings weekends cost so much more. Alot of you here own DVC, have any of you ever rented points before? I know my boys would love to stay there & being within walking distance to Epcot & MGM makes it even better. I was able to stay here for 3 nights on this last trip & I really enjoyed it & I would love to share this with my sons. The only way I could afford to do this is if I rent. So how hard is this to do, what all is involved? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :goodvibes

I am in the process of renting points for a stay next January. I posted my needs on the DVC rent/trade board. (Someone here suggested that to me.) Then I got several PMs from people with offers of points and prices. I read all the FAQ's on that board before I posted. I ended up renting from someone who I felt comfortable with based on e-mails back and forth. She wrote up a contract with particulars and sent it to me to review. Once she is able to make my reservation, I will send her a signed contract and the deposit. It seems quite easy. Somewhere I read a recommendation that you make sure you go with someone who has posted a lot on the DIS before, rather than someone new with just a couple of posts.

Hope that helps, feel free to pm me if you have any other questions about how it is working for us.

Ellen

Now that I've seen that your son is 6, I have a few different suggestions as well. I have a 6 year old, too. He love the Henry and Mudge series and the Mr. Putter and Tabby series (all by Cynthia Rylant) which are very early chapter books. They may be a little easy for your son, but they are cute and quick, so they may encourage him to get started. Santa brought Miles a Chicken Little "cine-manga" for Christmas which is about 90 pages. There aren't a lot of words per page, but he absolutely devoured it. He also likes the Flat Stanley books which are a step up Henry and Mudge/Mr. Putter and Tabby.

Beth
Beth - I am going to use your recommendations, too. I have a kindergartener (6) who is a beginner reader. He knows his sight words, and can sound out most small words, however it takes effort on his part, which he is not thrilled about. He gets "tired" after a few pages. I'm going to look for these series at the library.

:grouphug: to you and your family. I'll be praying for strength, clear-thinking, and peace for all of you during this time.

Amy, Thank you again for organizing the memorial donation.

Jennifer, I hope your Mom gets her paypal problems resolved without too much trouble. I can't imagine how stressful that must be.

My parents actually rented points for a 1BR right after Thanksgiving at the BWV. I got a recommendation for a reputable DVC member with points to rent over on the rent/trade board, and set things up for them. It was painless, and they were happy with their accomodations. It ended up working out much better for them than paying an extra adult charge for a single room at the AKL, as my brother who's 24 was with them.

I'll also send you a PM.

I just wanted to give a big Thank you! to everyone here.
Without everyones help, encouragement, and designs, I would not have even attempted to make shirts, autograph pages, and mousekeeping envelopes for our upcoming trip.
Kate , thank you, thank you, thank you, for all you have done! Your tips have been so helpful to me! Without you and the others here, I know I wouldn't have been able to do it.
I know that my daughter's birthday trip will be one that she will always remember. I will cherish these memories forever!
Amy, thanks for putting together the memorial collection for Kate and Nancy's grandmother! You are truly incredible!
Again, I cannot thank everyone enough! You are truly wonderful people! :grouphug:
Tom - I am so excited for you and your family, going on your DDs first trip to the World. A birthday trip, no less! Have a great time, in case I forget to tell you later.

Hey guys! I could use some prayers and pixie dust this way... but not for me, this time!

My mom just found out this morning (and has subsequently been on the phone ALL day, LITERALLY) that her paypal account was fraduently charged almost $2000.00. The short of it is that the person who wanted the money cannot touch it right now, as a huge investigaion has been started.... but they won't credit my mom's account either. This is also from an account that does not have $2000.00 in it. SO.... she's obviously stressed. She thought she might be able to transfer money into the above account so that it does not get overdrawn, etc, as it was never meant for large purchases. She has been advised not to do that, however, until the investigation is complete.

So now, she's just having to sit back and watch as she incurs fees (which, ultimately will be reversed... but still), can't touch her account, worries about anything else (ebay, etc) that was supposed to come out of that account that won't be able to, etc. All while the bank AND paypal both say they can't do anything about it.... no holds on the payment, no reversal, no cancelling, etc. Nothing. She also has to fill out affadavits (for unauthroized use) for paypal, forms from the bank, a form with ebay (even though she wasn't even involved in the laptop "purchase" in question), etc -- which totally isn't her responsibility, but something she's stuck doing anyway.

She's a little stressed, to say the least. Add this to the fact that she was supposed to be dealing with the internet company today, which is still not working, plus a million other thing she does on a daily basis. She's just now starting Cassi's school day, so she's beyond frustrated.

Prayers that this is quickly resolved (without too terribly much (more) hassle), are greatly appreciated!
Jennifer - Prayers and :wizard: for your mom. Please tell her to also make a formal police report. This is clearly a larceny/fraud case and should be investigated and prosecuted, if they can locate the person.

This made me think of something a coworker once told me when we were talking about family planning. He said, if everyone waited to have kids until they could afford them, we would never have any. For some reason that always stuck with me, being so true. We think we can't afford them, but we can't afford not to have them.

I always remembered someone telling me his sister waited till they could 'afford' kids and when they finally could she couldn't get pregnant.
They just seem to fit into your life and cost never seems to be an issue, when DH wanted a third I told him he coul have a baby or his 'toy' he had been wanting and you guessed it his toy is in the drive whew :woohoo: I got off lightly!!

I hope ya'll don't mind me posting this here instead of the restaurant page. But I really value ya'lls opinion.

My very LARGE family trip in December 06-Jan 07 will consist of 8 kids from the age of 2yrs to 13yrs. Of course not everyone will want to do the same Character Meals. These are the ones I have suggested to them.

MK - The Castle
MK - Pooh & Friends
Contemporary - Chef Mickey

Has anyone done any others that they would recommend??

Thanks for the input.....Lynn
Well, you may have already gotten these suggestions, but here are mine. 1900 Park Fare at the GF w/ Mary Poppins, Alice, Mad Hatter, Eeyore, Pooh.

There is supposed to be a new boys Character meal at MGM, Hollywood & Vine.

There is supposed to be a new Fairies meal at 1900 Park Fare, I believe. However, I don't think that this had been confirmed, just rumor at this point.

Princess Storybook in Norway, as opposed to the Castle, now that it is 2 dining credits or terribly expensive.

Ohana w/ Stitch and friends.

Thank you Ellen! I do have more questions, I will send you a pm :)

Ok friends, I need some help. My sister in law is throwing her husband a surprise 50th birthday party. She has asked us all to come dressed from the 1970's. I don't have anything that will fit the bill. Can someone give me advice on cheap outfits (or anything relatively easy to make) for my husband and me? I have no idea what to do! Thanks all you creative people.
Tiedyed shirts and bell bottoms!!

WOW! I've been watching for Ding flights for Spring break (week after Easter) and there are absolutely NO seats available, at least to anywhere worth going. But of course, it is spring break. Hence, no seats.
