I know many of you are getting anxious, so I'm finally posting the "results" of our collection for Kate's and Nancy's grandmother's memorial. :sunny:

We collected an unbelieveable $483 dollars to donate to the St. Joseph Orphanage in Cincinnati, OH. :goodvibes

Thank you so much to everyone who responded to my PMs, whether you donated or not. Though most of us are strangers, we are one special internet family, and I know Kate, Nancy, and their family appreciate the DDA's overwhelming generosity and thoughtfulness. :wizard:

I hope everyone has a great day!
Amy :)
I just want to sat what anamazing group we are to have collected that much.
We trully are a familly.
So glad to see kate hanging out still.

Wanted to give everyone an update at the goings on in my house. My Abi not only said she felt better but looked better too so I told her she could go to school. Jim has not felt good through all of this(he also ate the chicken!!) and as soon as he knew Abi was on the road to recovery his body let loose. I feel bad for him he did so much for us this weekend and is now as bad off as Abi was.
I don't care what anybody says I am never stepping foot in Panda Express again.

I've never heard of Enid Blyton. What are the book about?

She's an english writer and is apparently one of the most famous children's authors ever. She wrote a whole pile of books and the famous five is one of the series. She died in 1968.

Here's a review of the first FF from someone at amazon.com:

amazon reviewer said:
This is the first installment of what was soon to become one of the all time best children's series ever written. This tome introduces us to the henceforth famous five: Julian, Dick, Anne, George, and of course, her faithful dog Timothy. The first three, who are siblings, travel to Kirren for the holiday and meet their cousin Georgina -a hot tempered little girl who dresses like a boy and refuses to answer to anything but "George". In no time, the five are fast friends and off on their first glorious adventure which sets the tone for many more: be prepared for mysterious happenings, bad tempered criminals, hair raising episodes in tunnels and passageways and of course, the usual mouth watering descriptions of every scrumptious meal the five share: FOUR meals a day, thank you very much, since the British partake of breakfast, dinner, tea AND supper!

And a link to amazon where the book is sold: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/03...103-5032458-7227036?n=507846&s=books&v=glance

And a site that lists all of her other books: http://www.btinternet.com/~ajarvis/blyton/blytonbooks.htm

What a wonderful memorial!!

I just wanted to give a big Thank you! to everyone here.
Without everyones help, encouragement, and designs, I would not have even attempted to make shirts, autograph pages, and mousekeeping envelopes for our upcoming trip.
Kate , thank you, thank you, thank you, for all you have done! Your tips have been so helpful to me! Without you and the others here, I know I wouldn't have been able to do it.
I know that my daughter's birthday trip will be one that she will always remember. I will cherish these memories forever!
Amy, thanks for putting together the memorial collection for Kate and Nancy's grandmother! You are truly incredible!
Again, I cannot thank everyone enough! You are truly wonderful people! :grouphug:

Tom..........enjoy your trip.....we want details when you get back!!!

Have Fun, Lynn

Hey guys! I could use some prayers and pixie dust this way... but not for me, this time!

My mom just found out this morning (and has subsequently been on the phone ALL day, LITERALLY) that her paypal account was fraduently charged almost $2000.00. The short of it is that the person who wanted the money cannot touch it right now, as a huge investigaion has been started.... but they won't credit my mom's account either. This is also from an account that does not have $2000.00 in it. SO.... she's obviously stressed. She thought she might be able to transfer money into the above account so that it does not get overdrawn, etc, as it was never meant for large purchases. She has been advised not to do that, however, until the investigation is complete.

So now, she's just having to sit back and watch as she incurs fees (which, ultimately will be reversed... but still), can't touch her account, worries about anything else (ebay, etc) that was supposed to come out of that account that won't be able to, etc. All while the bank AND paypal both say they can't do anything about it.... no holds on the payment, no reversal, no cancelling, etc. Nothing. She also has to fill out affadavits (for unauthroized use) for paypal, forms from the bank, a form with ebay (even though she wasn't even involved in the laptop "purchase" in question), etc -- which totally isn't her responsibility, but something she's stuck doing anyway.

She's a little stressed, to say the least. Add this to the fact that she was supposed to be dealing with the internet company today, which is still not working, plus a million other thing she does on a daily basis. She's just now starting Cassi's school day, so she's beyond frustrated.

Prayers that this is quickly resolved (without too terribly much (more) hassle), are greatly appreciated!

I know most of you got this in a PM - but I want to say it again:

Tinkaroo - congratulations on DVC!

PL's Daddy - I hope you have a wonderful time on your trip!

Jennifer - :wizard: to your mom. We had fraud on our primary checking account and it was a nightmare. I'm sure it will all work out in the end, though.

Kate - I'm glad things are looking up today :goodvibes

Babytrees - so sorry your DH is now sick. I'm glad Abi's better though.

Glynis - I second Captain Underpants! I used to teach Reading and the boys went wild over these. My DS is almost 5 and is so into the potty humor  . It was one of the best sellers in our Scholastic Book Fairs also.

Steffy - glad you're better :goodvibes

Hope I didn't miss anyone!

$100 roundtrip!!! I would have gone with the DING and booked that.....but then again Divorce Court wouldn't be that attractive :rotfl: It is hard to listen to our husbands when we know best. What website did you get the price and the DING from?? I have heard the commercial before but I forgot.
