Hi everyone, so good to see a lot of people posting.

I have not been posting much but have been reading right along.

To anyone who has had someone pass on, my heart goes out to you in your time of need :grouphug:

For all of us with aches and pains, the only thing that keeps me going are the pain meds :goodvibes

To everyone else :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:   :wave2:

I did all of my shopping on Saturday. Bought everyone gift cards and a few little things. Even found a tree at target for only $12

I was getting into the Christmas mood but it seems my youngest son has decided to be really dumb with his money and work. For crying out loud he is 27 and I am ready to ask him to leave. We let him come back home but he is past the leaving time.

Going to WDW was the best time I ever had. I am still working on getting my pictures ready and post my trip report. I am having problems with my arm and being on the computer a lot really gets it to hurting a lot. Not sure what the problem is but I think it is something like tennis elbow. I am trying to get a doctor appt before Christmas and our trip down to WV.
It was very emotional going to the Goofy Statue and leaving a rose for June. I was really moved by the tile.
I must share this picture with you. I was holding the rose and it looks like Tink is also holding the rose.

My sister had to put her dog Rusty down today. He was going into Kidney failure and was having heart problems. So that was very emotional for me too. Here he is with Thomas when I visited her after the DC trip. Stephanie absoutely loved him. He was the only dog besides her Grandpug that not affect her allergies.

Then when I came home today, I opened the card from Vicki. I could not even talk when I was trying to explain the tears to my DH.

Vicki I am so touched by the card and bookmarks. I will treasure that forever.

I have enjoyed all of the cards and ecards. Thank you all so very much.

One last thing. Here is the picture of Chucky and I sitting IN the cockpit of the plane.

Tom,
The pictures are just beautiful.

Before I get much farther....I just want to tell you all how much I am loving coming on after work and having a ton of DDA to catch up on....just like old times!!

Rather than posting the update on the thread, we could still PM DDA updates and an email could be sent out to the DDA email list. That way you would get a weekly email for an update and wouldn't have to actually come on to the thread if you didn't have time. I have a email group already set up so it would just be cut and paste and send. Pretty easy. What to you think?

Deb

I like the way you think!!

Hmmm. Our new tree smells like cheap luggage. I am not fond of that odor. It sits up higher than the "good" tree - much more clearance between the bottom branches and the floor. That could be a plus. I can't reach to start stringing the lights and DH went to bed, so for now we have a big naked tree. That smells funny.

:lmao: :lmao:

I must be giddy from lack of sleep but a funny smelling tree struck me as funny.

I hope not, this has been fun.And to think Deb has been trying to tell me all along. I should try to remember that one little rule she established long ago.
"she is always right and if I remember that everything will be alright."

My boss calls his wife...."she who must be obeyed"...I can't get Jim to think that way though :confused3

That is so neat!!!!

We are getting the Disney Scene It game. I can't wait to play that one!

You are going to love it!! I am trying to convince myself that I don't need the booster pack for it....so far so good.

OOOHHH Alabama Slammers aka Slo Comfortable Screw. My favorite drink. I could make one right now, no seriously I've got all the ingredients in the cupboard. Would an Alabama Slammer go well with Vicadin? Just kidding, no alcohol for me. BTW Those things will sneak up on you in a hurry.

Since I am so naive...what's in a Alabama Slammer....my daughter was tattling on me making it sound like I'm a lush or something because I have drank about a dozen drinks this year....hey if they stop carding, I start drinking!! :teeth:

Anne Marie - Have you done any research on the federal laws about what the public school HAS to provide for your child? Because I would think his high IQ would make him fall under the same guidelines as kids with disabilities, if that makes sense. Can you have a 504 meeting where you have special accommodations documented? That's what we have for DS due to his ADD. Your circumstance is totally different, but it amounts to a diagnosis of a learning "difference" that requires special modifications. The school HAS to provide him with appropriate curriculum, or they have to pay to transport him somewhere that has a curriculum that fits his needs. Public schools don't like for parents to know that, because even if they don't have the funding they HAVE to figure it out. Federal law. The principal at Daniel's school knows it, too. Even as horrible as our public schools are, there are magnet programs for gifted kids.
What sort of scholarships or financial aid does the private school offer? All of the private schools here have some sort of assistance that you can apply for. Of course his asthma is a concern - you would just have to meet with the staff at the private school to be sure they could handle it until you were able to get there. 40 minutes is a bit of a commute. Good luck sorting out the options! :wizard:

Yup....what Elizabeth said....I think I've said this before we went from an IEP for Abi's speech and occupational therapy to an IEP for her smarts. If Centennial couldn't handle her for any reason we would be able to move her to any school we chose on Centennial's dime.

You also have the option of having a person at every meeting to help you know the laws and rules and how they apply in your munchkins case.

I know many people who have an IEP where some parts are for gifted help and other parts are for learning disabilities. It happens very often.

Tom we got your card yesterday or today...I can't remember. But, that's not my point....my point is I know Leighanna is adopted but my girls don't and they said...Wow she looks just like her mama!! I have to agree....Leighanna looks just like her mom and dad.

You've got a couple of years...just this year they stopped carding me on a regular basis. I had 2 people in the last couple of days tell me I look like Cassidy's sister...and I look 24...I personally think they need glasses....can't they see the gray hair I have!!

That sounds scrumptious...I have a new drink to try.
