I have a couple of gowns picked out for the red carpet, just need to decide. Neither have a description, so I am not sure what to say about them :confused3

Evening everyone,

Thought I'd stop by for a little pity party before I go and try to find some extra blankets and go to bed. I'm sittin ghere wrapped in a blanket and wearing socks, which I never do at home.

Our heater decided to go out today, so after working another extra long day that was total chaos, I get home to find out that it is going to take approximately $1200.00 plus labor to repair, or $3000.00 plus labor to replace our heater. This when tuition is due, and the "Holidays" are here, sometimes I just feel like throwing in the towel . . . . . . . .

So I'm feeling pretty sorry for myself, when I came across an ornament that a friend and coworker gave to me two years ago. It made me think about her story.

Her name is Donna, she is one of the kindest, most generous people I have ever met. Four years ago right before Christmas, Donna's mother took ill, she passed away the week of Christmas, this was so unexpected it really hit Donna hard. Then the following year on December 17th, Donna's BIL came to the store to see her, she was off that day and was out doing some Christmas shopping. Donna's husband and her BIL had invested in an apartment complex in Gretna, LA. For those of you who might be familiar with Gretna it has some extremely "rough" areas, and the apartments are in one of the bad areas. Donna's DH had an aparment there where he stayed when he was working on the apartments so that he didn't have to travel back and forth. Someone broke into his apartment and bludgeoned him to death with a hammer and then set his body on fire. You can only imagine how totally devastated she was, she came back to work and tried to do her best to go on, we spent many a day crying together in our office. Now her DH was a great guy and could do many things but he was awful about starting projects and not finishing them, leaving their home in pretty rough shape. So Donna had taken part of the life insurance money and had her home redone, it was almost complete and she was so proud of it, she took me by there at lunch just to show it off, it really did look good.

Well, the town we worked in and she lived in was Waveland, MS, which is where the eye of Katrina came ashore. Katrina completely destroyed her home and everything she had that she didn't take with her when she evacuated. It also flooded the store that we worked out so she also lost her job, she was unable to relocate close enough to the store I transferred to so that wasn't an option.

The good news is she has found a new home and has started over once again. I think maybe God made me come across that ornament to show me just how trivial my problems are. I should count my blessings and not my sorrows.

Sorry to rattle on, but I just needed to "talk" with someone.

You guys all look so happy in the pictures although Olivia seemed to be playing coy in a few. Are the characters dressed in the blue outfits for the Year of A Million Dreams? Where did you find Clareece? We've never met her. We've never met Ron or Kim Possible either. Ron looked pretty accurate to the cartoon version, but Kim not so much or was it just in the pictures? #126 of you and Olivia is great!! Snow White and her prince, Belle in Beast all dressed up. I'm really enjoying the pictures. Scrooge McDuck, Aurora and her Prince, Snow White and her prince, Now I'm jealous. We've never seen the Princes. Thank you so much for sharing. Those photos are priceless as are your memories I'm sure.

It isn't too bad this morning and really didn't bother me through the night. I have my fingers crossed that it is going away. I guess time will tell today. Thanks for asking.

Deb

I've caught up so now I'm off to shower then work on the present wrapping. I want it all done today. Then I can make a list of the odds and ends that I need to buy and with any luck I will be completely done by the weekend. I am waiting for a bunch of packages from online purchases so hopefully they will arrive quickly. I ordered the kids Disney crocs from shoebuy.com last night as that was a great deal. Nick needs an adult size and I can't seem to find and great deals on those. Has anyone found a good deal or even free shipping? I may just hold onto Colby's and Hunter's and give them to them for Valentine's Day or Easter which will buy me some time to find Nick's

Hi everyone! I'm just sitting here catching up with the boards while waiting for Shutterfly to upload my pics. I got a coupon for a free design album with them! Perfect to display our engagement trip! (And all I have to pay for is $7 shipping!) I just have to decide on the album...and paper...and which pictures deserve to be in it! :rotfl:
I'm off to go see if Claire has updated her trip report!

Oh neat! Is it a code anyone can use? And if it is, care to share? :teeth:

Kelli - thank you so much for the card! The picture is really cute. All snow looks like a real winter wonderland.

You're welcome! We drove up in the mountains for that. We didn't get to stay long since I had to work, but I had quite a few pics that turned out really well. I should make a collage for my signature.

I told Elin this after the show but now I will share it with you all because I thought it was so funny.

Alyssa was really enjoying watching all the dancers, except for the boys/young men. After awhile she tells me that the boys dance like girls and that they look silly. Then she tells me that she wishes that the boys would wear regular pants, because she doesn't like seeing their (insert proper male anatomical term here). :rotfl:

:lmao: Out of the mouths of babes

I really, really have trouble watching ballet with any males in it! That's one of the main reasons I'm not really a fan. I'm afraid someone will think I'm like those men that stare at women's chests! Normally, I don't look anywhere near a guys crotch.

I can't believe I just typed that! You all are going to think I'm some pervert!

Vicki, you crack me up! :rotfl2:

Good morning, DDA! :)

Jennifer - I am sorry to hear about your brother's case against his ex. :guilty: That must be frustrating!

Deb - Glad your back is better! Hopefully it will be OK as the day progresses!

Janet - Just make up some gobbledy gook description about your gown. Nobody will know the difference! ;)

I really must get things done today! Like all the laundry from the trip. And I need to get some decorations up, tree or no tree.

We still haven't worked out how to keep the cat from chewing the wires. But I was thinking about maybe buying a length of garden hose, slitting the side with a utility knife, and then putting it around the wires as a sort of casing. I am pretty sure she couldn't chew through a garden hose.

I also need to decide if I want to risk life and limb going out to pick up my Christmas cards from Sam's or if I want to wait until tomorrow.

I am so :furious: with my brother right now.
He had to drop the case against his ex girlfriend, as supposedaly the sherrifs department and CPS could not find any truth to the charges. They would not look at all the documenation we had. The 4 yr old did not cry out when interviewed so they dropped it. The sherrifs department let the ex here the tape of Jacob's current girlfriend asking him the questions to get it on tape. So the ex is being a real "B" towards the current girl friend. My Brother apparently has no spine :furious: because the ex will call and say it is very urgent she talk to him. so he calls her back and she proceeds to yell and "B" at him. all he does is say nothing. I am so :furious: I can't relax and go to sleep. I am so close to telling my brother off and not speaking to him for a very long time.
Sorry for the venting.
