Deb I hope your back is feeling better :wizard: Is it your lower back? I often have lower back pain, which did not start till after I had the boys. I cannot sleep in our bed for more than 5-6 without my back killing me. Once I get up & moving it gets better. I keep telling dh one of these days I need to get one of them adjustable beds!
my back is still killing me. It is mid right side. It is high enough that I don't think it could be kidney stones, but I can't remember doing anything to hurt myself. I'm thinking it is viral as I've had major temperature changes today. If it isn't better by Monday I'll get it checked out.

Deb

I just got this and thought I would share it with all of you.

"Friends are God's way of taking care of us."

This was written by a Metro Denver Hospice Physician:

I just had one of the most amazing
experiences of my life, and
wanted to share it with my family and dearest friends.

I was driving home from a meeting this
evening about 5, stuck in
traffic on Colorado Blvd., and the car started to
choke and splutter and
die - I barely managed to coast, cursing, into a
gas station, glad only
that I would not be blocking traffic and would have
a somewhat warm spot to
wait for the tow truck. It wouldn't even turn over.
Before I could make the
call, I saw a woman walking out of the "quickie
mart" building, and it
looked like she slipped on some ice and fell into a
Gas pump, so I got out to see if she was okay.

When I got there, it looked more like
she had been overcome by
sobs than that she had fallen; she was a young
woman who looked really
haggard with dark circles under her eyes. She
dropped something as I helped
her up, and I picked it up to give it to her. It
was a nickel. At that moment, everything came into focus for me: the
crying woman, the ancient Suburban crammed full of stuff with 3 kids in the
back (1 in a car seat), and the gas pump reading $4.95.

I asked her if she was okay and if she
needed help, and she just
kept saying " don't want my kids to see me crying,"
so we stood on the
other side of the pump from her car. She said she
was driving to California
and that things were very hard for her right now.
So I asked, "And you were
praying?" That made her back away from me a little,
but I assured her I was
not a crazy person and said, "He heard you, and He
sent me."

I took out my card and swiped it through
the card reader on the
pump so she could fill up her car completely, and
while it was fueling, I walked to the next door McDonald's and bought 2 big
bags of food, some gift
certificates for more, and a big cup of coffee. She
gave the food to the kids in the
Car, who attacked it like wolves, and we
stood by the pump eating fries and talking a little.

She told me her name, and that she lived
in Kansas City. Her
boyfriend left 2 months ago and she had not been
able to make ends meet.
She knew she wouldn't have money to pay rent Jan 1,
and in desperation had finally called her parents, with
whom she had not spoken to in
about 5 years. They lived in California and said
she could come live with them and try to get on her feet there.

So she packed up everything she owned in
the car. She told the
kids they were going to California for Christmas,
but not that they were going to live there.

I gave her my gloves, a little hug and
said a quick prayer with
her for safety on the road. As I was walking over
to my car, she said, "So, are you like an angel or something?"

This definitely made me cry. I said, "Sweetie, at this time of
year angels are really busy, so sometimes God uses
regular people."

It was so incredible to be a part of someone else's miracle. And
of course, you guessed it, when I got in my car it
started right away and
got me home with no problem. I'll put it in the
shop tomorrow to check, but
I suspect the mechanic won't find anything wrong.

Sometimes the angels fly close enough to
you that you can hear the flutter of their wings...

Psalms 55:22 "Cast thy burden upon the
Lord, and He shall sustain thee. He shall never suffer the righteous
to be moved."

My instructions were to pick four people
that I wanted God to
bless, especially for the months in 2006, and I
picked you.

Please pass this to people you want to be blessed.

This prayer is powerful and prayer is
one of the best gifts we receive.
There is no cost but a lot of rewards.
Let's continue to pray for one another.

Here is the prayer:

"Father, I ask You to bless my children,
grandchildren, friends,
relatives and email buddies reading this right now.
Show them a new
revelation of your love and power. Holy Spirit, I
ask You to minister to
their spirit this very moment. Where there is pain,
give them Your peace
and mercy. Where there is self doubt, release a
renewed confidence through
Your grace, In Jesus' precious name. Amen."

I know I picked more than four -- you can, too.
When Satan is knocking at your door,
simply say, "Jesus, could You please get that for me?"

Theresa - That was really thoughful! That family is lucky to have your family as friends! :)

Kelli - I hear ya' about getting out of the chair. I think I am stuck here.

I need to go to the post office, and maybe to Target. I also need to order our photo cards from Sam's so maybe I can get them in the mail before January. :rolleyes1 I was TRYING to order my Photo Pass pics but EVERY time I went to check out my computer crashed! :badpc: I will have to order them on Dadboss's computer when I go in tonight. The nice thing is the site does save what is in the cart, so I don't have to re-do the order.

Deb - How is your back today? I take 800 mg. of ibuprofen 3 times a day when mine is bad and that helps. I also take Robaxin, but that is prescription. The Flexiril doesn't work, but the Robaxin does. :)

I've been doing the 800 mg of Advil along with 600 mg of Tylenol and it doesn't help. SIL gave me some flexeril, but that doesn't help either. Hopefully it will clear up as quickly as it came.

When I arrived home from work tonight there was a package on the table for me. The package was from Kate & it contained a Jiminy Cricket ornament, mini Mickey posts it, a Mickey notepad, & Mickey gel pens! The ornament is so cute, it will look perfect next to my Tinkerbell ornament :goodvibes

Thank you so much Kate! I will post pictures soon.

We also got a package from Kate. I think that it was Nick that had Colby's name. He got the mickey post it notes, Mickey Coloring book, Mickey Gel pens, Mickey Sticker book, Cars notepads and a very cool Donald ornament which he has been carrying around the house. I will post pictures if I can find the time to upload.

Deb - I wish you had better news to report on your back. I hope it gets to feeling better very soon so you can get on with the things you want to be doing.

Elin and I had a wonderful evening, and the show was magnificent.

Hey, we could get a couple of us to put them together for the CD? Do you know what the limit of photopass cards is? We only have 40 pictures too but I want to get the CD.
The limit is 300 pictures.

Deb - does your back hurt when you are laying down too, or just when you are moving around?

The kids had their Christmas party at bowling this morning. They had fun as they did Cosmic Bowling with all the funky lights and stuff. They had donuts and drinks for the kids and Santa came. Then we had to go get workboots for Chris as his work gives them each $100 to buy a new pair each year and his gift certificate was about to expire. Buying shoes for someone with a 4D width is never fun. We came home and I took a long nap hoping that I would feel better when I woke up. No such luck. My Mom stopped by and helped me start wrapping presents. She will be back tomorrow to help more :thumbsup2 I made a list of everything that I bought so now I know that I'm not in bad shape on the presents front. I should be able to finish up this week. Hopefully we will have everything wrapped tomorrow.

It doesn't hurt if I lay still or even if I sit still with a pillow behind me. Anymovement and it hurts. It isn't a sharp pain, but more of a dull constant pain while on my feet or moving.

That's good. I was wondering if it was keeping you up at night. Hope you get feeling better soon.

Tammi - I am glad you had fun at your "girls' night"! :)
I told Elin this after the show but now I will share it with you all because I thought it was so funny.

Alyssa was really enjoying watching all the dancers, except for the boys/young men. After awhile she tells me that the boys dance like girls and that they look silly. Then she tells me that she wishes that the boys would wear regular pants, because she doesn't like seeing their (insert proper male anatomical term here). :rotfl:

I added Friday night and Saturday morning to my trip report. I have a link in my signature to the trip report. The next part of the report is the wedding. However, I have to find out if Jennifer, Stephanie, or Terry have any pictures they can share with me. Since I performed the ceremony, I wasn't able to take any pictures myself.

You know, I have exactly the same problem as Alyssa!

Elin, Tammi & Alyssa, I'm so glad that you enjoyed your girls night out!
