The Darlings Do Disney (TR is started!)

So random... but its the same way for me with my sunscreen. :) I never wear it... but bought it for Disney.

After we got back, I put it on one day, and excitedly ran to get DH. Was like, hey.... I smell like Disney!! He laughed, and agreed, but couldn't figure out what it was.

Muahaha.
I love that feeling!! I smell sunscreen and I think of summer, I smell Rub A535 and think of Europe! (My dad wore it on his back while we were there) :rotfl:

i LOVE THIS FEELING. I got a CRT and BBB last minute ADR! Congrats!!!
Thank you, and congrats to you too!!

Just joining in. Love your PTR so far, can't wait to read more!
Welcome aboard! :cheer2: Glad to have you!

hate this. fell in love with a mulberry spice scent B&BW used to have.... and it was a holiday one that I fell in love with. Of course... got discontinued. :(

And im gonna stop now. I've posted here waaaay too many times. :) Sorry bout it!
Isn't that always the way? :sad2:
Don't stop now, I was just starting to feel popular! :lmao:

Mr. Darling was very very happy today when he came home after going for our mail:

Hi Fellow Canadian! I thought I'd check out your PTR from the link from your reply on mine! Your plans look great! I'm so excited about POP! I love hearing from people who've been and are going back. It must be good!

Sorry to read about the passing of your grandmother. :grouphug:

Welcome! And thanks
I love Pop Century. It's a clean, fun place to lay my head! I usually spend most of my time in the parks so I'd rather keep upgrade costs out! (Although I was tempted this time, lol!)

Got an email back from the deodorant people, no chance of getting my scent. :sad2: Guess I'll have to pick a new one.

:rolleyes1 found myself looking at deorderant scents wondering if I could find something close to your wild jasmin when I was at Target over the weekend :rotfl2:

:rolleyes1 found myself looking at deorderant scents wondering if I could find something close to your wild jasmin when I was at Target over the weekend :rotfl2:

:lmao: Love it!

I have a confession. I smelled their "replacement" for Wild Jasmin, "Oh-la-la-Lavender" and it smells a LOT like my Jasmin, nothing like lavender at all! So I got it, it's a pretty decent replacement, I'll give them that. :rotfl:

Aaahhh area music. Those sentimental tunes that make me tear up like a toddler who missed the ice cream truck. :sad1:

Epcot is my favourite park. I guess I'm a sucker for the world showcase, but there's something else that I can't quite put my finger on.
I've never thought to listen to area music outside of the parks, so when someone here on the Dis mentioned it, I thought I'd go hunting.

I found this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2p49-bUN0Uo
(Go on, listen. You know you want to)

I teared up and was back at Epcot in the blink of an eye, sitting outside of Innoventions, eating a Mickey ice cream.

So without further ado, my Epcot must-do list:

Captain EO:
No picture :scared1:! I've never done this. I must, for the simple fact that I can't stand that there's anything at Disney I haven't done! I generally avoid the Imagination! pavilion as there is really not much there for me, but this year I will make my way there. I youtube'd some videos of it and it looks hilarious.

Circle of Life:
5930003203_9a2940c290_z.jpg

I always make a little time for this if I can, relaxing and cool, and it has a great message too.

Ellen's Energy Adventure:
5929909115_ae11381e72_z.jpg

I love Ellen DeGeneres! Another relaxing ride, cool and long -- a good excuse to get off my feet for a while.

Innoventions:
Particularly the Sum of All Thrills which I wimped out on last time. Those little pods looked too small for my claustrophobic eyes! I'm going to try it this year though. It's a favourite of Mr. Darling's.

Living with the Land:
5929932011_e2b4bd74f6_z.jpg

Again, calm, quiet, relaxed and cool.

Mission: SPACE:
5929904655_c67d4f6189_z.jpg

I can't do the orange team, but I'll probably do the green team with the in-laws (at least my MIL) while Mr. Darling does the orange!

Soarin':
2175044557_438bc223e1_z.jpg

My absolute favourite, hands down, in all of WDW. I tear up every time we take off! And when I watch Men In Black II, Patrick Warburton is not Agent T, he's the Soarin' guy who got lost and wound up at Universal Studios. :rotfl:

Spaceship Earth:
5930436470_b57863bf5d_z.jpg

A must-do for sentimentality if nothing else. Who can go to Epcot and not ride in "the golf ball" ?

Test Track:
2175836662_741503a246_z.jpg

Although I am not a fan of the first 3/4 of the ride, the outdoor lap is worth it.

The Seas with Nemo & Friends:
2175045235_abc69c82b5_z.jpg

My first ride was a disappointment, I think I was expecting more to the ride aspect, but now that I know what it's all about I enjoy the relaxing ride and could spend hours inside The Seas pavilion.

All of the World Showcase!
Just going to sum it up like that. I love to explore as long as I can. Great news is that my MIL barely got to see WS last time she was there so she wants to take her time exploring too!

I also want to get a chance to see Off Kilter this time. They make me home-sick, lol, but I do love a good celtic rock tune.

Finally, Illuminations is my absolute favourite fireworks show in all of the World. <3

Must skip:
Journey Into Imagination With Figment :rotfl: I really hate this ride. Anything that sprays skunk smell into my face won't be seeing me again.

I just posted my plans for our Epcot day in my PTR too! I don't remember doing anything in Epcot when I was ten and we stupidly didn't even go to Epcot when I was 21, so this trip will be like my first time there. I WANT TO DO EVERYTHING!!! I know it can't be done realistically in one day. Your pics and descriptions were extremely helpful to determine what we should not miss though. Thanks!

Your Epcot plans sound great!
Thanks! :goodvibes

Glad to help! And I just finished reading your updates and adding some input, lol! Epcot is my favourite park. It's more relaxing or something.

:thumbsup2 good for you....

enjoyed reading your EP update and listened to the music link in the background ;) sounds like a fun list of MUST-Do's...

I loved Imagination ride back when I was a kid but seriously one attraction they should have never messed w/...it's a skip on our lists too :sad2:

Captain EO  ok you may need a good one (or two) drinks before this...it might make it better ;)

I loved a day exploring WS too

J~

All caught up on your report. Love your DH's gift, my DH would be very jealous, maybe one day I'll be a nice wife like you and let him do it!

Sorry for your loss, it sounds like your grandmother was a great woman.

Can't wait to hear more of your plans!

:lmao: Thanks for the warning about Captain EO, I can't wait to see it now! :rotfl: I wish I had seen Imagination pre-renovation.

Thanks for your sympathy
Mr. Darling's co-workers are all jealous and their wives hate me for making them look bad :rotfl2: I can assure everyone that it will be a once in a lifetime type of gift!

Hollywood Studios, admittedly, is my least favourite park. I'm not entirely sure why. :confused3 I would guess it has something to do with the Hollywood/movie atmosphere. I'm not a movie buff and I love Disney for the special Disney magic found in Magic Kingdom. Sure DHS has some thrill rides, but ToT scares me. I guess it's not something I can fully describe, it just falls short of the other parks for one reason or another.

Having said that, I do love it and many things in it. So here are our DHS must-dos!

Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame Plaza
... because I enjoy taking silly pictures!

Indiana Jones™ Epic Stunt Spectacular!
216400_10150166468472989_508602988_6870324_1310351_n.jpg

I love Indi, and I especially love the special extra. No matter how many times I see it I laugh.

Lights, Motors, Action!® Extreme Stunt Show®
223126_10150166473537989_508602988_6870426_345861_n.jpg

Mr. Darling's must-do, not mine. Fast cars and flames and jumps and motor sounds aren't my thing.

Muppet*Vision 3-D
2175124313_213ec570c6_z.jpg

Silly, fun, and I love the whole queue area.

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster® Starring Aerosmith
218141_10150166471832989_508602988_6870386_6536331_n.jpg

My favourite ride-for-ride's-sake. I was so nervous about going upside down the first time but I was equally as exhilarated when I got off.

Star Tours
2982338816_0c5888696f_z.jpg

I'm a Star Wars fan (not fanatic, just fan) so I enjoyed the old Star Tours. Can't wait to try the new one!

Studio Backlot Tour
(How can I not have a picture of this uploaded?)
A nostalgic old favourite.

The American Idol Experience
I haven't done this yet! Maybe if the schedules line up I'll try it this time.

The Great Movie Ride
222276_10150166472607989_508602988_6870404_6572039_n.jpg

Ahhh yes, some not-so-great memories of this one from 1991. Our hijacker was huge and scary and I was 5 and sitting in the front row. Poor guy was trying to play his part while comforting the crazy screaming kid in the front row! I love it now though. See ya in choich.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™
223523_10150166471702989_508602988_6870384_1561382_n.jpg

Ok, confession time. I've never done ToT. I'm too scared. I'll do any roller coaster you throw at me but I am so scared of the drops. Not to mention I HATE elevators anyway (claustrophobic -- I always take the stairs!). I'm afraid this will ruin elevators for me forever, but I am determined to try it this time!

Toy Story Mania!
5731230467_ba6eabc326_z.jpg

Of course! I do adore this ride, it's so much fun. I have to research the little tips that everyone talks about so I can get a higher score.

Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage
2175910034_85a252a101_z.jpg

What a great show, I really love Beauty and the Beast anyway, and this is a great production.

If we have time-to-dos:

The Magic of Disney Animation
I do love to draw and I've never managed to do this yet.

Voyage of The Little Mermaid
5731229099_aceb3b0215_z.jpg

Not a bad show, but not really a must-do. Beauty and the Beast is just so much better.

Walt Disney: One Man's Dream
Always worth a look to pay tribute to the man who started it all.

Must-not-do:

Journey Into Narnia: Prince Caspian
Is it just me or is anyone else seriously disappointed in this?

Sounds Dangerous with Drew Carey
Really? Keep me in a dark room attached to a pair of headphones and whisper Drew Carey in my ear? No thanks.

Fantasmic!
Ok, I'm ready for the flames -- I hate this show. Seriously, watching blurry clips of Disney cartoons projected onto water... maybe once upon a time it was a very awesome bit of technology, but it doesn't impress me. I made the mistake of sitting to close last year and got soaked. The character parade is nice, Mickey at the end is nice, but I like me some fireworks. :confused3

Thank you once again! Our PTRs are sort of in sync. My next entry will be our HS day and now I know what not to do at HS!! Your ride descriptions are great!

However, as you'll see from my most recent (Day 4) PTR post, I'm SHOCKED at what you wrote about Fantasmic! because I've never before read or heard anything bad about it besides the fact that you have to line up ridiculously early to get a seat! Fantasmic! is pretty much my biggest "must do" of the whole trip. (Although Illuminations is up there too!) It looks like it could very well be that I'll be really disappointed with it. Of course, we're still going to do it because we never have before. The worst that can happen is that we'll say, "Ok, done that, don't need to do it again" right?

Oh, and I LOOOVE Beauty and the Beast (favourite Disney movie ever...which makes me wonder why I have Ariel as my avatar, oh well, I like her too!) I'm glad to hear that you love that show because I have high hopes for it, too!

I know, I'm probably the only one in the world who doesn't like Fantasmic :confused3 (well, Mr. D and I both). By all means make sure you do SEE IT lol! Most people think it's the best of all the shows, so don't take my word for it. It's not a bad show, I just feel that the part where they project movie clips onto spraying water is too long, and blurry, and that there aren't enough real fireworks (I know it's not technically a fireworks show, but I'd rather see some fireworks.) I guess it might be better if you go into it thinking "laser/lights show" than "fireworks"? But yes, the worst that can happen is that you, like me, will add it to your do-not-do list! (But more than likely you'll love it).

Beauty and the Beast is my favourite too! Belle has brown hair and a horse, just like me :rotfl:. I chose Ariel for my avatar because it was the first one I saw in the presets! :lmao:

Hollywood Studios, admittedly, is my least favourite park. I'm not entirely sure why. :confused3

it's not my favorite park either... and i can't quite pin down a reason

we have never stopped over here

Lights, Motors, Action!® Extreme Stunt Show®

did you know Lightening McQueen is in the show now?

Muppet*Vision 3-D
2175124313_213ec570c6_z.jpg

Silly, fun, and I love the whole queue area.

we haven't done this in awhile it was sensory overload for our DS who is Autistic...he is ready to try again in Jan...but DH and I hope to do it in Oct too...I want to look for the keys under the door mat :thumbsup2

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™

this is one of my FAV rides that and IASW :rotfl: good combo huh? you should try it once if you think you can handle the drops...I love it even more than RNRC

I agree this is a FAB show...like mini Broadway

I am a terrible drawer but this is a fun!

Must-not-do:

Journey Into Narnia: Prince Caspian
Is it just me or is anyone else seriously disappointed in this?

my son wonders why this is even still here when the movie is long since released?

sounds a really good day...hope you can fit in all the shows

I came over frm my PTR, everything looks ahmazing, but I'm going to admit, I've only gotten to page 3 lol Can't wait to read more!!!
