Just wondering what everyone's opinions are on The Dana on Mission Bay? We are thinking of staying here in September and like that it is close to Seaworld.

Any thoughts?

It's a great location - I've run/walked through it several times. I haven't been in any of the rooms, but the grounds are very nicely kept, and from the outside the buildings look good.

I haven't stayed there, but on our last trip we were nearby at the Catamaran. The Dana looks nice though and Mission Bay is a nice area and like you said, super close to Sea World. Definitely get breakfast or lunch at The Mission. It is so yummy, but get there early because there is often a wait in the morning, but it is so worth it. Their egg/potato dishes are amazing and we like the french toast and the blackberry banana pancakes. Try the mexican hot chocolate too- yum. Their portions are HUGE.

We have res. to stay at the Dana in mid June for a family vacation before heading off to DisneyLand. Just so happen that I was on a very short trip to San Diego last week, so I decided to check out the hotel before the family arrives in June. Great location, however the pictures on their website are much nicer then in person. The grounds are nicely laid out but they had lots of weeds in their yard/grass. The room on the inside was about the same quality as a Holiday Inn. And this was the Prem. Bay view room. Cost is around the $200 per night range. So I was not too happy and decided to canceled our reservations and book at the Hyatt across the street. For the same price that the Dana was going to charge me...I was able to book a concierge room at the Hyatt. This also gives us a free cont. breakfast in the morning along with evening snacks and drinks.

Wow! I am surprised at this. :scared1: I have heard only good things about the Dana as long as you stayed in the new building which the premium bay view is. I did hear that the marina and pool view rooms located in the other building were in desperate need of refurb.

I checked the Hyatt prices for August 1-6 when we plan to be in San Diego and the prices are $125 a night more than the Dana for a regular room, not concierge. Did you book at the Hyatt on Mission Bay.

Yes I did, right across the road from the Dana...we got the prepaid in advance price and booked the Regency Club Queen rooms. And at the Dana we were booked in the Prem. Bay View Room. We went to the front desk and ask if we could look at the rooms in that cat. and they were very nice and helpful. So that was how I was able to see first hand what the rooms looked like. However like I said...nice enough if it was just my immediate family - but my relatives who are coming with us in June are hotel snobs...and needed the wow factor in a hotel....or I will never hear the end of it.
