the Daily Grind ~ 8/25/11

Getting this started early so I can remember everything I need to do:

UGH forgot the most important thing: Wish DH a very happy 45th birthday!!!

Say a prayer in memory of Uncle Mike and send my aunt and cousins a quick thinking of you email. The is the big 10 year anniversary of his passing from an asthma attack, I can't believe it's been 10 years already.
Please think of Blink Cousins tomorrow. And my Dad, his brother, sister and Mother. You should not have to bury your youngest child.


Must do's:
laundry
buy totes
gas up the SUV and RV
haul the Mini's and the trailer to a friend in Northern CT
pack up the remaining valuables and clothes
take pictures of everything left behind


Basement - Haul everything upstairs that I can. Take pictures of everything that I can't. Find all important documents and pack them.

Outside - Basically clear everything that can fly and get it inside.

Pray DH can get away from work tomorrow.

I hope to get out of here by Friday night. We are going to head towards Ohio, probably Streetsboro KOA.

We've got an open house at the middle school this morning, Girl Scout tie dying party this afternoon, and a haircut for Morgan tonight. Busy busy...

There's a hurricane coming this way...Not much I can do about it, at least I won't be on an island for this one. (I was a nanny on the Vineyard when Bob hit, *that* was fun...NOT). We'll move stuff in from the yard so we don't lose anything. That's about all I can do!

The move of DS into the dorm yesterday went well. He was very excited, but also really nervous. But, it helps that he already has some friends on campus. His roommate and his Mom arrived while we were setting up DS's side of the room. He seems like a nice boy. DS said he tought they'd get along, but he wanted to see what he was like once his Mom wasn't around! I handled leaving him there really well since I knew I was going to see him a few hours later to let him take my car and then I'll see him again tomorrow to get my car back! I don't think it's totally sunk in yet that he's gone. Right now it feels like he's at camp or something!

So, today I'm off and without a car so I'm staying put. It's been a stressful week so I'm having a ME day!!!!

Wait for call that DS's car is ready. They are putting a new transmission in it and they are paying for it since it was their fault that it needed a new one. They said it would be ready this afternoon. DH and I have a bet on that. I say it won't be ready until tomorrow and he says they'll have it done today. They are never ever on time, but we'll see. The loser has to the buy the other one lunch!

Well 1 way for my yard to get clean and light a fire under all 3 mens butts is to announce HURRICANE. Need to move EVERYTHING from the yard, equipment from the fields and this will take days!!!!

Nancy- I am sure Fort Myers is getting what we are up here- use this time to make sure you are ready for a huricane but his one shouldn't be more than a little rain for us. In fact I think it is North of Fort Myers on the eastern coast by this morning.

Prayers for all those in the storm's path- we have family all along the East coast so unless it goes out to sea completely someone will feel it. We have been getting ready to send relief stuff at the church.

My list is short today:

Middle school to pick up DD's schedule for this year and put organizers in her locker.

Finish packing DS's car and hit the road at about 10am to bring him to college. We move him into his dorm at 8 am tomorrow.

It is finally starting to hit me that he is leaving...I hope I can make it through tomorrow. This is going to be harder than I thought.

Thank you Rebecca!!! Gram isn't answering her cell..so my guess is she was buying supplies.... she stock piles...even w/ the small thunderstorms.. When we were there in 2010, she had about 20 gallons of water stored already!!! Plus all the other necessities....

Battening down in Delaware. DS23 cleaned out the gutters yesterday and DH made a fast run to the beach to make everything secure there and help others pull their boats. Better safe than sorry...

Right now we are having big thunderstorms. So much for hanging out the wash

Best of luck to all the kids starting school...and to the Moms that are making sure they are starting it off well!

Prep the pork before I go to work today. I've been too tired to get it set up when I get home.
