I'm tempted to leave the country all together. DH said he'd rather trade the house in for a RV, and teach the kids on our own while seeing the country/world. They'd get a much better education then they will get if we keep up the cuts.
I am fed up, I have been soooo angry all day but I have to walk around pretending that all is fine and good. The math teacher was supposed to be the advisor for the 8th grade next year. I have to start planning this month. I wanna cry!!

I think I'm going to make a shirt to wear to the public meeting from a tag I saw on 2peas. "If you can read this, thank a Teacher"

Definitely time to move the move up. Hard to believe they are going to get away with cutting the special ed teacher. And admitting to taking a teacher just to put a body in the room?!! How about effective teacher.

How about the Art teacher who is there 1 day a week, or one of the 3 full time secretaries, or 1 more of the inept janitors that sit around and watch TV all night, or the aide and the sub who we suspect are doing more than flirting, or the superintendent that lives in Vermont and comes to "visit" once a week.

Lisa we have more Special Ed teachers then we do special Ed kids. We are famous for diagnosing kids in Pre-K, they sit in there every day just picking kids apart. DD isn't even in the building yet and they slyly monitor her when she's with me. I told them under no circumstances are they allowed to evaluate her without me present because the school psycho, I mean psychologist, will be there. I won't let her within 10 feet of my kids!

But they not only cut the Special Ed teacher for middle school, they cut the librarian that works one on one with a 4th grader with severe Autism, I don't think he'll have an aide next year. Even the principal said if we keep the 4 aides they will be so busy helping the IEP kids that they won't help the other kids in the room and they want to recombine DS8's class to 1 class of 30-35 kids, we are at 28 now with 2 known coming back in the fall and rumor has it there are 4 or 5 more kids coming in.

It's crazy all the way around!!

I think I heard that you already passed your budget though right?? I might be looking in the area again especially if DH works in Fairfield.

Oh and I'm pulling DS7 off his IEP, it's useless. His speech improves when he is not in school and you can barely understand him when he's "getting help".

Pull him out and work w/ him at home instead of that IEP that is making it worse than better.
I'd be putting a lot of research into 1. homeschooling all the kids or 2. making the move sooner than later. Oldest is going to need a good education to get thru high school and college... (as well the others but oldest is priority w/ it being so soon!).

Your oldest or DH's oldest?? Your oldest has a good head on her shoulders and public school or home-schooled she'll do the necessary things to advance her own education if the school falls short. I wouldn't worry about PJ, now DH's oldest, he may be in for a challenge due to the egg donor but I think the talk y'all had last week is a step in the right direction. Be the Master of your own destiny.

I'm really torn, J (broken leg lady - she really needs a name LOL) and I were talking today. 1/2 of me want's to give up, I'm tired of fighting. I'm tired of being one of the handful of parents that give a crap. I'm tired of the indifference that people have towards their children and the future of this town, state, nation, and world. I'm tired of school being used as "free" baby-sitting. But the other 1/2 of me is mom guilt. I can not stand by and let schmucks who think the one room school house is still ok, run this town. I can't walk away and give up on those kids, and not just mine, I have a conscience. Literally, 50 years ago we did not have a unified school, we had 8 one room school houses. Well all those people who used those schools are still alive and can not grasp that our kids compete in a global society. They actually sat at a town meeting and said we don't need a computer teacher and that the art, music and gym teacher can be 1 person. Hello you can't even work at Walmart with out knowing basic computer skills!!!!

ARGH!!! It's just so frustrating. I guess my downfall as a person is caring too much.
I talked with one of DS12's classmates today about 8th grade stuff and I told her that as a group they are going to step up. Every teacher tried to break that class because they are all really strong willed and I told her that we will prove everyone in that building wrong. We will be the best class ever to go through that building. The current 8th grade was so horrible and mean to each other and the teacher advisor (Barbie), I actually felt bad for her, as much as I don't like her, I was mad for her. I will tell my kids (DS's class) it will not happen!

No, I was saying more for your oldest needing to have a good education for high school and college... the one room classroom is far gone.. they can tour that on a field trip here if they want!

Yes, you do care too much..and that is what we all love about ya... but you have to remember priority one is your own!

Ok, more later.. bus will be here shortly for elem. boy!

PJ placed 2nd last night..had first up til the 6th lap of 8th and gave it up to a little girl... She has one more home meet and than on to sectionals!!!!!!
