I'm up! After our trip to the Cape, we went to my sister's pool for a cookout and swimming. Morgan had an "accident" about 20 minutes before they were leaving for the party. She was walking my sister's border collie and he saw a squirrel (squirrel!), and took off after it. She's got a bit of road rash, but will be fine. Beautiful day, weather was perfect and company was, as always, wonderful. Great to see baby Sophie, even if she was a "little" cranky!

Today is the Memorial Day parade - we are wearing our tie dyed t-shirts and bandannas (remind me to tell you the t-shirt story at some point...) and marching as a troop.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day. Take time to hug a soldier :)

Good morning! Happy Memorial Day, everyone! Thanks to all of those who have served or are serving our country, and as Holly said, to their families as well!

Again, thanks for all of the pixie dust for Blythe!! And continued pixie dust to all of those in need!

Hope miss Morgans rash is feeling better.

How your dh Pam?

Linda thinking about you. How's your mil?

Brooke you must be getting excited!

Jennifer - so sorry to hear about you getting sick on your trip. Can't anyone get a break????

DH is ok - the pacemaker/defibrillator has been turned off so it can't cause any more problems (shocking him, alarm going off, etc.) until they can get in and do the operation. Still tomorrow, we hope, but will know more later today. Found out late last night that the young shooting victim in the ER bed next to DH on Saturday night died shortly after I left at 2 a.m. What a sad night.

We're taking some sort of indoor picnic in to him today - and watching movies in the (thankfully, private) room. We're gonna make the best of it - since we're sort of in this emotional "limbo land" place that doesn't seem quite real and the real world will come crashing back upon us tomorrow. The surgery, school crap, etc....

D's knee seemed a bit better yesterday. She was seen at the onsite clinic at DHS right afterwards on Sat a.m. and they gave her first aid supplies to keep the wound treated. No pools/swimming though - poor kid. I'll get another update and pass it along.

morning friends.

Dusting Baby Blythe! And Lisa. And Pam's DS. AND DH. AND DD! My goodness. And whomever else needs it.

My husband was career Air Force, so we have a special appreciation for Decoration day and every other 'flag waving' day. It was a good life, once Vietnam was over and I didn't have to worry every day about his possible imminent demise.

MIL is unchanged - with Alzheimers, the only progression is downward. We're looking at 'locked unit' nursing homes tomorrow, because we don't think she can go back to the nice assisted living place.

Thanks for your good wishes! Scrapbooking, friends, Disney and leisure time seem very far away right now. We'll be spending the day painting, but we are making progress, and that's satisfying. My goal is to have the house done and ready to go on the market by the time Linda comes home from her vacation.

Happy Day, all!

Pam enjoy your indoor picnic.
Keep us posted.

Sad about the young victim.

Mornin' all..
Happy Memorial Day..

Lindababe ~ When looking at the locked Alzheimer's Units.. ask about their security.. .does an alarm go off when someone is coming in/out of the doors.is there a video survelliance at the doors so they can see who goes in/out?. If there is a button to push to get in or out is it out of the reach of the patients... If not, is it tough for them to push.. I use to work as a Unit Secretary taking care of an Alzheimer's unit and that is why I suggest those questions. Not long after that my soon to be husband (didn't know it at the time) gave me a promotion to Admission Coordinator and I was responsbile for asking those type of questions. I wish you luck in this process as I know first hand what Alzheimer's does to the family/individual. My grandmother was diagnosised with it.. ;(

Today:

We are going to a cookout/swim party at Aunt TK's (DH's sister).. we are taking one of DD's BFF's who happens to be a foreign exchange student and living in 2 weeks... :( We've got a gift for her on order.. I sure hope it comes in this week or definitely before she leaves.. We want to take her out another time before she leaves for dinner.. She is a hoot! She called her the other day.. I only know her by the nickname the kids gave her... she referred herself by name... so it didn't click and I told her PJ was gone.. wasn't till I hung up that it hit me! I actually thought it was a solicitor! LOL Of course she doesn't let me live that down..

Debbie~ happy birthday to your DS!!! WE finally had our birthday brownie last night for DS14... he didn't want a cake, he wanted a brownie!

SIOH ~ clean girl, clean... LOL I do the same thing.. I deep clean before we leave! Everything must be in order and in its place..easier to tell if something is missing/out of place!

Ok, well, I hope everyone has a wonderful day today.. Thank you to all that served our country either past or present and their families who give a big sacrifice for us!!!

Good Morning!

It's a BEAUTIFUL day here. We are hanging out this morning (Randy is off cycling - crazy a## man - left at 5:30 this morning and won't be back until 11 am)

Kids are up (DD only in the last 15 min). I am going to head up and get dressed - then hang out in the Gazebo.

We are going to BFF's for a BBQ later. She lives near a farm - so we are going to walk over and visit with the piglets and calves. Her S.O. was a marine so we will be toasting him with Margaritas..

We'll be available to PBF by cell phone for any emergencies.

Have a great day everyone!

Rhonda

 Thank you to the families who's loved ones made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Thank you to those who have and are serving our country and their families who have strength like none I've seen before.

Happy Birthday DS of Debbie!

Pixie Dust for Blythe, Pam and Family, Linda and Family, Jennifer and Family.

Wish I was going with SIOH. :sad1:

Oh and Morgan, good thing that squirrel [squirrel] wasn't in your pants. :rotfl2:
We have the Phineas and Ferb soundtrack. I love that song. And the extended "Gitchee Gitchee Goo" song.

Not sure what we are doing today. DH is mudding the drywall in the mudroom entry way. Wall got torn down to repair the water damage. Trying to keep up on laundry for when that goes away. I'm hoping it happens when the boys are out of town. Got the baggies put in their correct folders for the swap. I am waiting on two packages so I may presort tonight. Still need to work on the hostess gifts. :sad2: No sudden burst of creativity has hit me yet. Will work on the AK swap to get that done before next weekend.
Oh and hot dogs on the grill today. :thumbsup2

Everyone enjoy your day!

Morning all!

Adding my thanks to all who have served or are serving in the military! My dcousin is 19, she left for basic training for the Coast Guard last Tuesday. I'm not sure what happened exactly, but her mom got a call yesterday and she is being sent home due to a back injury and will need picked up on Tuesday. We don't know if she injured herself there, or if they found an old injury; she didn't know of any prior injuries. Poor kid, she was so excited at her party last weekend.

PBF - thoughts and prayers for your DH and your family. Hope D's knee is ok too, ouch!

Jennifer - LOL at squirrel!, hope Morgan is ok though (not laughing at her)

Deb - Happy Birthday to your DS! Enjoy your spin in the new car!

Linda - Alzheimer's is a horrible disease and I hate it. No advice, just a hug. My grandma has been affected with it for about 10 years, in a nursing home for 6.

list for today:
be lazy (already did that)
clear off the table upstairs and unearth my Cricut
use that Cricut to cut a title for a LO that has been otherwise finished for a week
scrap more?
cookout at the IL's later
clean kitchen
start packing list for vacation--only 12 more days to go!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Steph

Well, my girl refused to march today. I told her that I didn't think soldiers got to say things like "I scraped my knee, so I don't think I'll go fight in the war today," but she didn't buy it. She made her choice. I told her if she was too sore to march, she was too sore to play outside or swim. So, she'll have to live with it.

I, on the other hand, did march with our GS Troop. I heard lots of nice things about our red white and blue tie dyed shirts and bandannas. Why look like everyone else when you can shake things up?! The girls were great, there is a ceremony about halfway through where they do a 21 gun salute and we all jumped at that, even knowing it was coming. I do wish that they would tighten that part up a bit, or put some speakers so we could all hear what was going on instead of standing there trying to wrangle 10 girls in the sun.

Got some hot dogs for the grill later. Life is good...

Jennifer don't you just love it when they make those choices so now you have to spend the rest of the day with the conciquence.

L was in a mood this am so i sent him back to nanny. he came home for his chainsaw and was such a snot about finding his jeans argh. let them deal with it. I'm not sure he will make his 12th bday in 10 days. guess I should plan something..... but with the attitude dude around he'll be lucky to have anything.

I finally got a ride in DS22's "Black Beauty". I call it "The Chick Magnet"...

It is a sharp little car... he zipped me around for a bit, and now he is planning on going out. So no bday dinner or cuppycakes today. Since it's his day, it's what he wants...

I'm off tomorrow, and the first thing I get to do is call about the AC... Really? I mean REALLY?!! ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!!! I REFUSE to spend my day off this week on repairman watch! AND I'm really getting tired of having to call this company with every season change!!!

Really deb not again ??!!

Didn't that guy give you his name and number and tell you to call him if there was any problems??? Or was that something else??

Seriously Debbie....MY gosh... you just need to put them on speed dial...that is crazy!!! Your day off and your on repairman watch.. YUCK!!!

we had a wonderful day..got home before the rain... kids are now fighting.. YAY!!!
But on the bright side.. I'm a great shade of red! :) It'll turn pretty tan this week!!! Always burn the first time out and than tan the rest of the season! ;)
PJ has her friend coming and spending the night w/ us tomorrow..they are going shopping at the mall during the day....

Hope all is well!!!

Mornin' all..
Happy Memorial Day..

Thank you for the advice, Nancy! We're babes in the woods in this area.

The assisted living place we tried to move her into had locked alarmed doors, with a code pad for the employees to use to let us in and out. But the flaw is because of fire codes if one leans on it for 20 seconds the lock lets go, and the alarm sounds, so she got out - she didn't go far, but still!!! And I'm thinking that they may not want her back if she's going to have these episodes of "agitation:confused3 I'm MUCH better with the renovation of the house than with the "people" stuff :(

So, Betty's only 20 years older than us. . . will some of you young ones PLEASE warn me when it is time for me to sign myself into one of these places before I get in such deep doo doo and cause MY heirs these problems?
