~The Daily Grind~ 5/31/10

One day just isn't enough to appreciate our military and the sacrifices they and their families make each day.

Thank you for the advice, Nancy! We're babes in the woods in this area.

The assisted living place we tried to move her into had locked alarmed doors, with a code pad for the employees to use to let us in and out. But the flaw is because of fire codes if one leans on it for 20 seconds the lock lets go, and the alarm sounds, so she got out - she didn't go far, but still!!! And I'm thinking that they may not want her back if she's going to have these episodes of "agitation:confused3 I'm MUCH better with the renovation of the house than with the "people" stuff :(

So, Betty's only 20 years older than us. . . will some of you young ones PLEASE warn me when it is time for me to sign myself into one of these places before I get in such deep doo doo and cause MY heirs these problems?

Linda, Mom and I have experience in this from my Grandmother. If you have any questions, please ask. I know what you and Mr. B are going thru is a challenge. I'll keep an eye on you, and do an annual eval each March.;) If you start slipping in your scrapping purchases, I'll start worrying.

PBF, hope you had a great picnic. :) Good luck tomorrow to Mr. PBF.

Poor Morgan, those squirrels can raise all sorts of havoc.

Did anyone have a problem with the Disney channel today? Ours isn't running any programs at all.:confused3

Another busy day:

DD for my daily caffeination
Firemen's Memorial Service. With very little notice, the Town asked MomE and I to attend in honor of her husband.
Finalyzed arrangements with the minister and the soloist.
Went to Joanne's to pick up a tri fold board for a photo arrangement for the funeral
AC Moore - ran into a cute redhead :bride: :lovestruc and her handsome Daddy. Said hello to my family briefly and continued on
Try to make arrangements for a luncheon after the funeral. The Facility was closed, put that on my Tuesday to do list
Put gas in the van.
Stop at the dry cleaners with my dress and suit. good thing I check them before Thursday. The store was closed, put that on my Tuesday to do list.
Broke sunglasses, add buying a new pair to my Tuesday to do list.
Talk to funeral home, give final blessing on the obit for tomorrow's paper
Made arrangements for someone to watch DD Thursday night.
Sit down for a late lunch, feel asleep doing the cricut cuts for the tri fold board. Lost the Gypsy stylus for a bit since I dropped it in my sleep.:scared1:
select photos for the board
Dinner - salmon. It was delish!
Oversee tubby time
Exercise
Early to bed. I am beat.

Good night all. Hope everyone had a good weekend, or in PBF case, it ended as a fairly good weekend.

Thank you, Lisa. You have so much going on in your life right now - I truly appreciate your good wishes! Wishing you strength and energy too, as you move through the next few difficult days...

We had a lovely picnic indoors (grabbed takeout from DHs fave BBQ place on the way in to the hospital - ribs, chicken, pulled pork, corn fritters, lemonade and iced tea...yum!) I took s'mores fixings in (there's a microwave in his room) since I can make a mean microwave s'more! (Made these weeks ago for my census worker friends when we all got stuck...I mean "volunteered"... for the graveyard overnight shift. They are good substitutes when you can't make the real, grilled ones.) We ate everything and watched Up and Monsters vs. Aliens with the kids. A nice day - not the one we ever expected, but nice, nonetheless.

Surgery tomorrow - they are replacing the entire pacemaker/defibrillator and the wires that go into the heart. He has several complicating factors going on, which makes this a bit extra nerve-wracking than it should typically be for the surgeons. And me.

Lisa sending strength for you and mome for the next few days. I know sorry doesn't make it better or help much but I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. It just sucks (can i say that word and not get in trouble) hang in there and may you both have peace sooner than later.

Pam sending lots of dust your and Mr PBF's way. I'm glad you all made the best of it today. I'm sure it did the kids a world of good to have a great day. Wish I was closer but I can be there in a few hours if you need me. Lean on TB and Shamrock I know they will be there for you. H

Linda hang in there I remember when Nana had her stroke and she kept falling out of bed and they couldn't restain her. We were so frustrated, but the health care laws are insane and it's hard to get the help the person really needs because of them

Hugs to my friends.

Pam, the picnic sounds wonderful. It might not have been the most ideal setting but good for you for making the best of it. :thumbsup2

The s'mores sound wonderful. DD bought marshmellows and hershey bars at the grocery store. Hmm, methinks she got the recipe from the PFB. We'll have to give it a try.
