Field day with DS7 was fun! Today I'm stressing about DS13's summer (or lack thereof). He's starting high school football in the fall (9th grade), and they'll practice 4 days a week in the morning with only 2 weeks off all summer. He's also on a travel baseball team (practicing & playing tournaments all summer). AND yesterday the high school baseball coach came to the middle school to talk to the 8th grade boys and is now trying to recruit him for the 9th grade summer league which...wait for it...practices & plays tournaments all summer.

Today I'll be catching up on housework & swaps...

Outdoor play
Lunch
Naps
Work on swaps
Big kids home from school
Babysit kids go home
Hair appointment
If time-mani & pedi
Watch DVR'd shows

Welcome to the world of High School sports!! Now all vacations will be built around their schedules! LOL
DD (will be junior) runs XC..starts conditioning next week after school.... then in the summer they run 6 days a week @ 6:30am - 8am! yup! (good thing she can drive herself this summer!)....
DS13 ( will be freshman)...basketball conditioning the month of June 3 days a week, 2 nights are league games and a tournament the first weekend in June... It's mainly the 8th graders from the last season so they all know plays and were state champs in 6th grade and had fabulous seasons in middle school... they might mix some of this year's freshmen in w/ them too..but they all know each other and play ball together all the time... PLUS DS13 will be playing HS soccer...so conditioning info for that is forth coming... Need to send that email out momentarily... Plus he has been asked to try out for a travel elite soccer team...a coach came and scouted him out!
DsS15 (will be sophomore) football 4 days a week, luckily June/July are more lifting, learning..no pads!!! basketball conditioning the same as DS13.... It's a crazy summer...
That doesn't include all the fundraising they do for each sport they are in during the summer.... it's nuts..and what is crazier is we are scheduled to start school back 8/11.... and we only get 2 full weeks of moratorium... last week in June and last week in July!

Wow Nancy I could not even imagine having that many in HS at once!

My kids are a little more spread out, so DS13(almost 14) is the only high schooler, then I'll have one in 3rd grade and one in kindergarten. It'll be so weird to have one starting HS and one starting kindergarten this fall!

Know what you mean on the fundraising-we were given 20 gold cards that we had to sell for $20 each-and 2 weeks to sell them. I still have 3 left and we have to turn the $ in tomorrow, so he'll be hitting the neighbors (again) tonight! That is just the first fundraiser. Not to mention the $650 we just paid for him to play and touchdown club. Then with the other kids and their sports-DS7 plays football, basketball, and baseball so he has a baseball camp this summer plus football conditioning 3 days a week. DS5 plays baseball-no camps for him but he'll be doing VBS. I thought it was crazy this spring when they all played baseball at the same time (and DS13 had spring football practice), but this fall is gonna be insane!!!

cancel a back ordered item - can't wait anymore
check on two shipments - new saddle horn cap and candle making supplies
call mom - no call after drs appt yesterday
dinner??

Need coffee - no latte t-discs here -

Better get cracking.

Not feeling 100%. Think I'll go take a nap. My errands are done, and I did clean the bathroom and finally put some laundry away.

Oh hold on... I forgot to mention.. I have one graduating HS next week and off to college in the fall.. I also have a 3rd grader currently, he plays football, basketball & soccer! Our town doesn't do camps much..and since all his siblings play in the HS sports and help w/ any school camps little bro gets one on one camp w/ older siblings! thank you to the older kids for that one...but I figure w/ all the fundraising $$$ they owe me that 40.00 break for camp pricing!
BTW, don't forget all the other high school budgeting.. You'll have class dues about 10-20 dollars, yearbook (depending on where they order..60-80 dollars), dances 10 bucks a piece here... (usually only 3 a year)... We finally got smart a bought season sports passes for the family at $150.00 a year... It was 5.00 a person HS level... well, w/ 5 or 7 depending upon the day, we paid for it w/in 3 games.... We have to pay for away games but that is okay..we only go to the away games that our kids are in...or that are BIG deals...
Several of us moms around here have decided HS is nothing more than an MONEY PIT!!!

Wow, you guys are accomplishing so much! I feel like we are stuck in a time warp of life altering decisions and phone calls and I feel like I'm getting NOTHING done this week.

DH now has two potential jobs on the table. So much to decide. That's what's on my table until further notice.

Congrats to Bubba! That is an amazing thing to happen! I would be too nervous to ever do such a thing! Did he have an awesome time?

And feel better to those suffering from their allergies! I hate this time of year because of them!
