The Daily Grind ~ 12/19/12

So glad there's 2 days till the weekend. They are 2 nut filled days though.

Rachel glad your home safe and sound
Michelle yeah for no more shots (i hate needles)
Jen hug M fo me so sorry they have a unsharing person in charge and the kids are the ones to suffer.

I too can't watch much, I just want the kids to feel safe. The boys and I had a long talk abt thinking where in each classroom they could hide to be unseen and safe.

Today was 180 meals out of the center, 2 meetings (just got in now) and Tdap booster for Tom, I and Eric. So I will now have a sore arm for 4 days. Which is why I put it off for ever (like 5 years over due) but the cases of pertusis went from 50 to 500 in the schools this year (according to the woman who did mine). Eric had to have that booster and the 2nd varicella done for 7th grade. This was free from the Dept of health so great time to do it. They will also due his varicella next week.

I'm headed to bed night all

I hate that. Everyone should get a part. Even if its a smaller one. Is it community theater? Is there others near by?

For nutcracker they rotate the leading roles so its different every year.

I agree. If you have x kids interested you have x parts. If it means having a bigger chorus than you planned so be it.

This is middle school. The chorus teacher directs a musical every spring. There are generally more 8th graders than 7th and more 7th than 6th (the older you are the fewer chances you have to be in future plays). Every girl in M's Girl Scout troop that auditioned got a part...except her. :(

The lead was amazing last year. I'm not saying she won't be great, but there should be a higher level of fairness. (Not that Morgan wanted the lead, but I bet there were other girls who could do as good a job as who got picked).

All that being said, she has a lot of other things in her life and she's going to be able to focus on them now.

Jennifer, so sorry Morgan did not get the part. Hopefully she will continue to try. It is very sad that they don't all get something.:sad2:

Jennifer, so sorry that Morgan didn't get the part.. that's ashame..but it's their loss... She will focus on something else and will love it!! Tell her to keep her chin up and smile because she is awesome with or without this part!

:( Morgan didn't get a part in the play. The girl who played the lead last year got the lead again this year...I don't know that I'll be able to talk her into auditioning again next year. :sad1: I'd like her to get to do it once!

So sorry that Morgan didn't get a part. It stinks that the same people are picked year after year, without giving anyone else a chance to participate. Tell her not to be discouraged. The right part will come along. ::yes::

Honestly, I'm not a big believer in everyone gets a medal and no one loses, but this is her second try. There had to be one child she was slightly better than that got part and she didn't.

Okay, we're moving on! :goodvibes

I was the kid who always auditioned or tried out and never got picked, for plays and sports. Luckily I let it roll off my back for the most part. One thing I found I loved was working backstage for the productions. I did make up and hair. I still got to be a part of the fun, but did not have the stress of being on stage. Perhaps that is an option for M.

She "cast" the crew at the same time as the cast. She didn't get chosen for that either.

I'm probably more upset about it than she is. Well, I was, until she realized that her entire GS troop was cast and she wasn't. :sad1:
